Summary: most flexible
Review: This has to be one of the best early model pda's out there. connectivity with other infored devices are great. so far i have been able to control my tv, satallite reciver, my hp laserjet printer all from the infored. i've had it for 2 days and its all pimped out. 3rd party software is very easy to install and there has pretty much been nothing i cant find for what i want to do. it comes with 8mbs of storage which is a lot since programs are very small. some hardware is tricky to find but amazon[.com] has been the best so far that i've found where to find the stuff i want for this palm. if you buy it you wont be dissapointed. go to freewarepalm.com for free palm pilot software its been the best so far

Summary: A Classic!
Review: As an owner of Jornada 548 and Jornada 720 Pocket PCs and a Handspring Visor Prism I've had ample time to consider which of them is my favorite - and the Palm Vx wins.

What I like - the small size, simplicity, razor sharp screen and ample memory.

Specifics - this is the smallest of the PDAs I own and it's easy to slip into a shirt pocket. However, the feature I most like is the standard Palm applications, which do a few tasks well, and the wealth of third-party applications that can be easily downloaded. Compared to the Pocket PCs I own this and the size combine to make the Vx my favorite. Although this is the only PDA I own that has a monochrome screen the Vx is easier to read in all light conditions.

Why choose a Vx? By any standard this model is obsolete, but is probably the best designed PDA on the market - especially if you want a Palm-powered PDA instead of the more complicated Pocket PC devices - because used ones are attractively priced and it makes an ideal entry-level PDA. It also may be the only PDA for many people because it is rich with functionality (appointments, calendar, phone list, etc.), and remains compatible with tens of thousands of readily available programs.

Summary: Great First Palm Pilot
Review: I bought the Palm Vx as my first Palm Pilot and it's worth every cent I paid for it. It may not have as many features as the new ones, like a color screen, expansion slot, or bluetooth compatibility, but it's inexpensive and very reliable. It's run downloaded applications smoothly and with no trouble. It's got plenty of memory (8MB), a rechargable battery, and is thin and light. It's even better when you add accesories like the Palm Portable Keyboard or the Travel Charger. If you're looking for a basic Palm Pilot for a suprisingly inexpensive price, this is for you.

Summary: Takes a dinking, keeps on syncing
Review: I had a mishap with my Palm V during a softball game where the Palm was pretty well destroyed. I was more than a little concerned as I had a date in a couple days and the only place I had the girl's phone number and address was on my Palm (I was lax in doing my daily hotsync).

So, with some fear, I put my badly dented palm into the hotsync cradle and pressed the big button on the front. Some whirring and clicking and it still synced. That says a lot for the construction quality of this PDA.

Summary: Going gray with Style.....
Review: When It came time, I decided the time had come that I required the services offered by a PDA. Then the question that will probably hit everyone looking into PDAs: "Colour? or Grayscale?"
The advantages of Colour are: a higher visual appeal and graphics look better in colour and some high-end models can display pictures. The Advantages of Grayscale are: A large decrease in power consumption. The screen has greater longevity then a colour one. The ability of a backlit display. Also less expensive.

The choice for me was an easy one, I wanted a PDA that is small, has good storage ability, and reliable without a huge price tag. The Palm Vx fulfills all of my requirements at good cost and long battery life, I've gone 2 weeks of normal usage before it recommended discontinuing usage until a recharge.

In closing I went Gray with style with the Vx a truly great PDA
Mahalo!

Summary: Poor battery - worse support
Review: I've had my Palm for less than 7 months and I am having battery problems. Having followed their instructions, they are now telling me that my warranty has expired and they are going to charge me [money] for telephone support.

I really love the features and while it worked I recommended it to anyone who asked. I won't be buying another Palm product as a result of this experience.

Summary: Never out-of-date
Review: It has been exactly one year since I've bought my Vx. Untill I saw the newer generation colour display handhelds, I was thinking it was the best; yes, the one and only negative fact I can state in here is that, by the time, the gray scale display becomes boring.. On the other hand, anyone who plan to buy a handheld with a prize as low as possible, this is the best choice. Except for it is gray scale and no expansions are available, you can get 100% of satisfaction!

Summary: Excellent choice for PDA
Review: For the price range, this PDA is probably the best for your money. It's got a sleek design, not too trendy so you don't have to worry about it going out of style. With 8MB of storage, you can hold enough numbers and appointments for years ahead. Pitchblack conditions are not a culprit for this device because of it's backlit display, think back to the Indiglo Timex watches and that's pretty much what the backlit display looks like. Contrast adjustment is on the case which is much more convenient then navigating to system settings on the PalmOS. The cons about this PDA is it's expandability (no memory upgrade slot), but if you are going to use more memory for a PDA, then you might as well upgrade to one that supports MP3-playback, image, and movie support because 8MB is more than enough memory to get the job done for many years ahead. I know people who have been using the original Palm V model (2MB) for a couple years and they've got their lives planned inside of that little thing for quite some time. If you want to get this Palm to keep track of people you know and remind you of which appointments to keep up with, this is a very good choice. Just remember to archive your Palm data on your PC onto a disk.

Summary: simply the best
Review: I would highly recommend this item to anyone who has always wanted a handheld but was afraid it would be too complicated for them. No way, this product is terrific for first time users!! This Palm has all the basic feaures and is easy to learn, even the "grafitti" becomes second nature after a while. The hotsynch feature is great to combine with your home PC and the beam device is great for exchanging info with other users. Only one drawback; apparently a lot of folks out there agree with my assessment and I am currently in the market for a new Xv as this device is also a popular item to steal and refurbish!! My advice, buy one and enjoy it but be careful where you put it down, it may well walk off.
