Summary: Must Have For Students
Review: I am a student who is very interested it cool little toys (...I mean productivity devices!). The Handspring Visor is great. The modem is a great thing to have too. You might want to look into the Visor Deluxe, if you want to put a lot of programs on your handheld. 2MB isn't quite enough space, but it is a great bargain.

Summary: Best upgrade ever!
Review: I used to own a Casio E10, which had more memory. I was a little leary about the "memory loss", but after using this product, I'd say it is possibly the best on the market- even better than the color models! Simpler OS than anything by Microsoft, and the Springboard modules make it possible to have this unit grow if necessary. This is a must have!

Summary: Poor external design overall
Review: The plastic on this model is cheap. The snapon lid is clumsy to open and the whole product pops into two pieces, something which is a poor design. Not worth the bucks if you don't have any use for the module expansion slot.

Summary: Not only better than WinCE, it's better than Palm
Review: I bought the Visor after my Philips Nino DIED after less than two months of service. The short battery life of the Nino wasn't nice, but the short life of the BACKUP battery definitely hurt! I didn't bother getting it changed, the Nino is in the bin.

So, I had the obvious choice of the Palm platform. It is robust, no crashes (yes, CE crashes big time), highly compatible (CE has compatibility problem with Win NT! ) and has extremely long battery life (2 months, versus 2 days for CE powered devices). The obvious choice was Palm IIIe for a no-frill technology minded engineer like me. However, Handspring popped up on my screen at the right time. Now this is what I call value.

Handspring was established by the inventor of the original Palm Pilot and the team consists of all the key personnel of Palm Computing (before they left!). The Visor, from all that I have read, was developed to OVERTAKE Palm, in terms of productivity, infinitely upgradeability and value. The Visor is selling at around the same price as the Palm IIIe and has about the same specifications. However, while the Palm IIIe will always be what it is, the Visor can be upgraded through the purchase of SpringBoard modules. These modules include memory, backup software, games (like PGA Golf), digital camera (you read RIGHT!) etc etc, and a lot are on the pipeline. And remember, anything that runs on Palm will run on the Visor, they use the same operating system. Also, Visor comes with the IMPROVED version of Datebook, called Datebook+, and it's more useful than ever. It is so user friendly it requires NO learning on my part and I could almost run it straight out of the box.

Now you know why the Visor is a better choice than Palm III, and even Palm V. Identify your need. If you see less than 1200 friends normally, I guess you would be very happy with the normal Visor (also, really great for college students, believe me). If you are the gadget guy, go get the Deluxe version (with more RAM and comes in five tasty colors). Still want to get the Palm? Well, feel free...I stick with my Visor, with a big smile knowing that it is 110% well worth the money.

Summary: All the functionality of the Palm 3* but cheaper
Review: I have had my Handspring Visor since February, 2000 and I couldn't do without it now. I did extensive research into the various models available and found the Visor to offer everything the Palm models offered but cheaper and better. It is a fantastic product and a great company.

Enjoy!

Summary: Its Not Just for Executives
Review: I finally gave up trying to balance home/work/family. I decided to keep everything in one place and the Handspring Visor was something I could afford that included everything that I wanted. Its great - easy to learn with the display instruction. I popped the batterys in and started using it in seconds. I carry it with me where ever I go and I can say it is making my life easier already. From birthdays, grocery list, events and TO DO list. Its got it all. You don't have to be an executive or know anything about computers. Its great - MOMS will love it!

Summary: Best handheld available
Review: I've had a Visor since they came out, and, it is definitely the best handheld device available. When you leverage it's reasonable price with the expandability of the Springboard modules, there really are better choices.

Summary: Terrible experience with my Visor...
Review: I had the same problem that reviewer Mr. McCoy had. I recieved my Visor and it came with batteries. I turned it on and at some point during the setup process the Visor shut down. When I tried to turn it back on, it wouldn't. Resets (soft and hard) did nothing. I changed out the batteries with brand new ones. The Visor came on and within half an hour, it shut down again. Not allowing the SAME batteries to be used. I went through 3 sets of brand new batteries and this happened every time. The longest my Visor has stayed on has been 30 minutes or less.

I also had a problem where I would turn it on and then turn it off. Once it was turned off, I couldn't use the same batteries again. It wouldn't turn back on until I used a new set. I have heard many many people have the same kind of issue with this and the best thing I can say, is listen to the people who are encountering this kind of problem. They are not alone with this issue!! There appears to be a flaw in a bulk amount of these Visors.

Summary: Good but ok
Review: broke 30 days after the warranty, and they don't stand behind their product surprise. how many of us in the real world can make something that last for 13 months and have a job. if it was a fluke it would have been fixed.

Summary: Great Entry Level PDA
Review: Very nice to have. Could use more space but its just right for the price you pay. I use it to organize my classes and sometimes play games. Great for students!
