Summary: Best Valued Colored Palm OS unit
Review: This is easily the cheapest colored unit available, as of Q1 2002 at least. Because of its price its no longer an entry level palm but its still a bargain. Considering that it has a more vibrant screen then the m505 and even the m515 it certainly holds its own in terms of screen quality and price. As for resolution its still only 160X160 but its still decent.

Another main difference between this and its m100 brothers is the fact that its the first rechargable unit for its series. Despite Sony's recent surge in amazing Palm OS units battery consumption still belongs to Palm hardware. Palm has stuck to its philosophy of total mobility and low battery consumption. They are willing to sacrifice screen quality over battery life, hence the m505. Many reviewers malign the screen of the m505 because out of the box thats the first thing you see. It certainly doesnt jump out at you but after a while it does grow on you. The m505 battery consumption is almost equivalent to the Vx. For a colored screen that is fantastic.

Lastly using the univeral connector it automatically inherits ALL of the previously made universal connector accessories. Thats a HUGE plus that palm has over Sony's units.

Personally i would pick the m515 because of its form factor but m130 is cheaper and more durable.

The best way to really determine which unit is best for you is to actually go out to a store and compare it side by side. Another good way to help you decide is to read as many reviews as possible.

Good Luck

Summary: Good Entry Level Color PDA
Review: Offers great memory and expansion capability for the price. Color good but not outstanding. Small display but easy to read. Also, comes with a good selection of software for compatibility with Windows applications. (Word, Excel and Outlook.)

If you are upgrading from an older Palm the biggest problem is that it does NOT work with previous model of Palm keyboard or 3rd party boards. If you want a portable keyboard you will need to spend another [more money]. Number 2 problem is that the rechargeable battery life is relatively short; 4-5 days on the road just about uses it up. Thus extended periods away from the home cradle will necessitate the purchase of separate charger or 2nd cradle.

Overall a good value, and a good entry level color PDA.

Summary: Mixed Feelings M130
Review: I've now had 2 M130s in the last 2 weeks. The first one had to be sent back the day after. It kept locking up and dumping the information. I got my 2nd within 10 days and so far it has now locked up once on the first day. Palm tec support say it may be from a game I downloaded from their site. I will try clearing all the info and starting over. Even with the contract redused, this thing sucks up the battery. If you think you can sit in an airport and work for 2 hours on a doc or spreadsheet, you will not have enough bettery life.

Summary: Palm reputation and color screen good price
Review: I own and used a Palm m100, but Really wanted a color screen And getting a free SD card and Travel Charger made it hard to pass up. It came with Documents to go which is added utility over my old m100. Docs to go is a must on any handheld that I buy from now on. My only let down was that they made my old m100 keyboard incompatable.

Summary: Great PDA - Now That Its Working
Review: After a lot of tinkering and a couple of hard resets, I have the Palm working great. I think the problem was the old software from the M125 causing a conflict. After I erased all of the old stuff except for addresses and dates it sync'd fine. The unit is fast and the color is beautiful. Now that I have it working I highly recommend it. The only drawback is the small screen and low res graphics.

Summary: Don't Work
Review: Owned a M125 and loved it. The M130 that I received is bug ridden. From the very start it gave me errors syncronizing my data and crashed while installing programs. It would not write data to a Palm 16 MB memory card. I did a hard reset three times and reinstalled the software as many times with only marginal success. Tech support was clueless! They would not concede that I have a defective unit. Therefore I'm returning it and buying a Handspring Prism. I'm very disappointed because I feel this would be a great unit if it worked.

Summary: Palm M130, Price/Feature combination is outstanding.
Review: I have owned Palm's since the first one. I recently owned a Palm 5x. I was hoping to hold out until a future high-end version came along but my Palm Vx had taken one too many knocks and I needed more storage space.

This new M130 allows me to get all the features of the high-end models: (color, rechargable, MMC/SD slot, USB connection to my PC, the software bundle and expansion). The price was just right for me.

The screen is bright enough but a bit smaller. I've downloaded some pictures on a 32MB card and they look ok.

The unit seems pretty sturdy, the case is hard plastic and has a flip down screen protector. I like the one-button time feature of the M1xx models.

I was thinking about buying some of the software that is included with the M130. So this made the decision to buy a new device even easier. It comes with DataViz Documents ToGo Pro, Palm Reader, the MGI Photo application and a few other apps.

There are a few minor trade-offs like screen size and slower processor but I'm just amazed at the value combination of this product. The trade-offs are worth it. You can even get it with a bundle from Amazon for less that SRP. Great!

Summary: Excellent color pda
Review: I compared the Handspring Visor Pro with the Palm 130 and decided that if you could combine them, you'd have a great PDA. Take the shape, software, expandability and the 16MB of ram of the Pro and add to that the color screen of the Palm 130, and you've got everything you need.... I had to decided between the two and chose the Palm for the following reason: the color screen is easier for me to read without my glasses!!

Summary: Mine died!
Review: I bought my Palm M130 less than a year ago and it was great. Then one day it wouldn't turn on. I hit the reset button and it was fine for a few months. Then recently it wouldn't turn on again. I tried resetting it in different ways and no luck. Now i have a dead palm and all my phone numbers and calender info are stuck in my work computer! i wouldn't bother buying this product as i am sure it will die on you too :(

Summary: Worst customer service for a bad product
Review: I would have given this -10 stars if I could. I had mine for less than 90 days when it just wouldn't turn on. This happened around Christmas, so I couldn't contact them until after the 90 days was up. When I contacted them, they wanted to charge me to talk to them on the phone and wanted me to pay $100 to have it repaired. It took me 2 1/2 months to get them to finally fix it for free. 1 month later, I finally got a refurbished one mailed back to me. (They also kept my cover that noone told me to remove) Then about 3 months later, the one that they sent to me died. When I contacted the company again, they said it would cost $100 to fix it. When I complained, the man that I spoke with told me he could give me 1/2 off another one. I then gave their customer service a bad review. No one ever contacted me. This is the worst piece of junk and the company that makes it is even worse. They don't care about making a product that is good, and they don't care about making the customer happy. Also when you call customer service, you can't get anyone in America. I would steer clear of this product.
