Summary: My best friend. My Palm m100 Handheld.
Review: When I got my Palm m100 a few months ago, I couldn't put it down. My parents were starting to get mad at me. I am 15 years old and I love little gadgets, especially handhelds. Even though it only has 2mb of space, it is still enough. I have downloaded about 10 games and I haven't even used 1/4th of the space. And I love the notepad. It works great. Also, I love the IR feature because my friend has the same palm. So, we exchange answers on tests to eachother. My mom thinks that the reason my GPA went up is because I am using my palm to take notes at school. Which, is true. But its mostly because of the IR. I give the Palm m100 five stars. PS kids, If I were you, I wouldnt use the IR feature like I do, I only do it in one class, the class with the most technology impaired teacher in the whole school. :)

Summary: Super affordable!
Review: For twice the price of the m100, you get 8megs, a faster processor, and a cradle, but that's it?

This is something anyone would enjoy playing with, organizing, or maybe just reading Ebooks on. For what it does, it's worth every penny!

Pros :

-Affordable

-2 megs is enough if you won't buy programs

-Easy, simple, and great with a clock

Cons :

-Smaller screen, but users won't complain, because they will be used to it

-Expensive secondary accessories($20 for a piece of plastic?)

All handhelds are basicly the same. The body is different and some people find it cute.

Buying this gadget you must tell yourself, is it enough for me or I must get something with more memory? If your answer is just "enough" then this is the perfect choice! If you have chosen "not enough", try to look for memory, stability, solid body, upgrades, lithium batteries, fast processor, and of course a way to find the money for all that.

+++++Notice+++++

Here are my advices :

-If you filled your 2 megs, delete useless stuff

-It uses serial cable! My computer's serial is occupied by my trackball(or mouse if you want)!

-Don't get addicted to games

-Stay in school

-Desactivate the sound

-Don't take drugs

-Make backups!

Summary: Incredible.
Review: I recieved this as a gift and was estatic. I spent the car ride home transfering my address book to the Palm, which was very cool, considering it was pitch black out... the backlight really helped.

I installed a few games on it, and transferred my addresses, and there is still a big chunk of memory - 15 games, oodles of addresses, a handful of memos, and still 1379K left.

I've been DLing recipes and placing them in to the Note Pad, so I don't need to carry them with me, just in case I decide to make something spur of the moment... I'm going to DL some of my writing on it, just in case I ever need that too ;)

It's easy to use, it's cute, it's small (but in a convient kind of way). You'll really enjoy it ;)

Summary: Palm M100 is great!
Review: My wife bought me a M100 after I'd been contimplating it for months. I wasn't sure if I really wanted one, I had tried a few palm devices at work and wasn't initially impressed. However, since it was a present I had no choice but to take it on an extended test drive. Three weeks later I am sold! This little bugger is much better than the databanks I've used in the past, easier to use with greater capabilities. With some free downloads I have AvantGo for MapBlast maps, iSilo for reading books, and a couple of fun games to kill time when necessary. The limiting factor is the 2MB of memory, but there is a company who will upgrade the M100 to 8MB, which I am seriously considering. All in all this is a great little device, especially for folks who are not sure if they want a Palm or not. If that describes you, get the M100 and you'll get hooked, fast!

Summary: Take a Look at What is Missing FIRST!
Review: I just purchased an m100 to replace a IIIe that bit the dust (my fault, I dropped it!). I actually like the slimmer, sleeker look and don't find it to be cheap looking or feeling as some have indicated. Rather, it seems very professional, to me at least. HOWEVER, somewhere obscured in all the specs is the fact that it lacks a mail database which allows you to sync your e-mail to the unit. I had grown quite accustomed to this with the IIIe and assumed it was a given on ALL Palms (as it should be!). I plowed through about 50 messages left by similarly disgruntled purchasers before I finally found a way to get the database (despite Palm). IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SYNC MAIL TO THE UNIT, EITHER GET A DIFFERENT DEVICE OR PLAN TO SPEND SOME MONEY OR TIME TO GET THIS ABILITY. Why on earth Palm would do something like leaving a mail database out is beyond me and my e-mail loving brethren.

Summary: Small is Beautiful
Review: After using the m100 for about a week, I can say I'm still very happy with it, and I do tend to be very picky when it comes to gadgets, being an industrial designer bu profession. The looks are definitely cool, much nicer than than Palm III and light years ahead oh the Handspring; the unit is also infinitely cute. Actually, I have to admit I chose this device over Visor mostly based on the looks :) It is very comfortable to hold and use, also to carry around, being very light. Despite the weight and all plastic construction, the unit does feels solid. My biggest remark on the build quality is the flip cover connection to the body, which both looks and feels weak and cheap and I did completely loose the cover couple of times just by opening it. The display is indeed noticeably smaller than other Palm models (well, comparing them side by side) and if you have problems reading small letters it can be quite a disadvantage. I personally find the size adequate, even for AvantGo browsing and the docs I have (mostly reference and dictionaries, books I still prefer in print). Readability is very good with soft, overhead, even light (outdoors, in the supermarket type conditions etc.) but sometimes the display surface has a nasty glare and the faceplate thickness shades the edges, making some parts hard to read. The backlight is useful only in VERY dark conditions, otherwise there is just not enough contrast to read the display. Memory is small, but if you're planning to do lots of work on your Palm, like spreadsheets and such, you will anyway go for a bigger display (and thus more memory of IIIxe or Vx). I have all my contacts, business and personal (about 200 so far), couple of months of activities, several nice games and necessary documents (and ok, two books just for the fun of it), Avantgo with 5 channels and still some 500 kb left. Btw, there is a memory expansion advertised on palm.com, a 2 MB backup module, with 8 MB coming soon from the same company. So on the long run you'll be able to expand if your needs grow. (As I understand, it is not the same thing as the Visor flash memory module, but some swapping needs to be done; still, if your life is so busy and fast paced, you are probably making lots of money and can get a second organizer, like Vx or Sony Clie). Finally, I wasn't so bothered by the absence of the HotSync cradle. My desk is way to cluttered anyway, so the cable does the job. Also, as a Mac user, I had to invest into the USB cable (-), which works without a glitch on G4/ OS 9.0.4 (+)

Summary: Great value for those of you counting your pennies.
Review: The M100 is the second handheld I've purchased. I purchased a Windows CE handheld made by Casio over a year ago but returned it one week after buying it. ... .

This time, I went for a cheaper one. ..., the M100 seemed to be a good candidate. I didn't expect much from it, given my past experience.

I have been extremely happy with the M100. It has never failed me yet. It syncs up well with my laptop and I have installed several third-party software on it with no trouble. Although the memory on the M100 is limited, I've never used more than 75% of it.

The only thing that I can say bad about the M100 is that it doesn't come with cradle. ..., I'll let that one slide!

If you don't need a color display or internet capabilities on your handheld, I'd highly recommend this product.

Summary: Wonderful Palm
Review: I just got this Palm 2 days ago and they have me hooked. I can't put it down. It is just great. This palm pilot is the ONLY one that has the note pad feature and also the only one which doesn't have the expense software on it. I don't care about the expense software because I would never use it anyway. My mom has a Palm V and her screen is a little bit bigger but all in all they work the same. They have the same amount of memory and games that you can download. I think that the m100 is easier to hold than the other ones because it has curves. The m100 in my opinion would definitely be a better deal than a Palm IIIx or IIIe. Those have a LITTLE bit smaller amount of memory than the m100.

Summary: a nice upgrade from a Palm Professional model
Review: i received a Palm Professional a few years ago as a birthday present, and i positively adored it. However, it got to the point that batteries hardly lasted long enough to bother using it, and as a college student i am ill equiped to spend large sums of money on a new organizer. Then Palm put out the m100, and i was set. I've added a dozen games to my m100 and i still have 90% of the memory available. With the leather flip-case and pacific blue faceplate, it's all that.

I think the m100 is perfect for college students who need to keep track of friends and homework assignments and class times, as well as anyone else who has similar demands on their organizer. It's not a visor wanna-be, and it's not 'dumbed-down' or anything. The m100 has the same OS as the other models, and works just as well. It's great for palm neophytes and palm enthusiasts alike.

Summary: Nice, but it just won't sync
Review: I am happy with the palm m100, except for one thing. The unit was able to sync only one time with my pc. It refuses to sync any more, even after doing a complete system reinstall. Technical support just told me to try to reinstall the software again. If I had it to do over again, I would spend a bit more money and go up in the models a bit...
