Summary: Pretty Good, but i must have gotten it too late...
Review: I did lots of research on the m 515 and was very sure that this was the handheld for me. I was very disapointed with picture display and some other stuff. This is when i realized i shouldve gotten a pocket pc.
But its still pretty good for taking notes, or a to do list.

Summary: Best Colour Palm For It's Time
Review: The Palm m515, in my words, was the saviour for Palm's goof: m505.

Compared to the m505, the m515 came with 8MB more memory (a total of 16MB), and a brightness control, which help made it the best of all Palms. It has the look of the old V series, 16MB, hi-res colour, and expandability (uses Multimedia and Secure Digital cards), this Palm is the best idea since the first one.

(My wife uses my old m515, which replaced her m130. My parents also still uses their m515.)

The rechargeable battery, which isn't replaceable, stays charge for about two weeks. I suggest you get a cigarette charger if you're on the road a lot.

There are many third-party software, hardware, and accessories still available for the m515--more than what's available for it's replacement model the Tungsten E.

If you want a professional, slick, and/or versatile PDA that is inexpensive and fairly new, then I would suggest the m515.

Don't waste you money on the m505. And, I wouldn't suggest the m500--why spend the money for all the technology and get no colour screen?

If you want a new model and want hardware attachments (utilizing the universal connector), I suggest getting a Tungsten T2/T3 or the Zire 71.

Summary: Poor Service
Review: This item is a wonderful tool to organize my life. I can't function without it, I like it so much. Precisely why I had to give it a 3 star rating. It can't seem to hold a charge reliably. When the battery reads nearly full one minute, an hour later I have lost all power and data, necessitating a hard reset. Palm will not stand behind this defect, because it was an "open box item." They will sell me a new model for over $200, but the m515 is not available except as "refurbished." I don't dare go that route again and recommend that others not buy open box items. They claim to have been thoroughly checked before resale, but I believe either my switch or my battery is defective. Because I like the model so well I am still trying to locate a "new" one on other websites that might be affordable.
Advice: Buy new and back up often on hotsynch.Don't rely on Palm.

Summary: Very frustrated....
Review: I have a Palm V and it worked great, but I wanted to upgrade to a color palm. At first this worked well too, but then I noticed the palm battery would drain after a couple of days and very little usage.

Now, I'm out running errands and making appointments, I try to use my palm and it won't turn on. I think the battery is dead but when I put it in the charger it shows the battery is only 1/2 used.

I like the color, but the inconsistency as to when it "feels like working" is too inconvenient.

Very frustrating.....

Summary: I Love My Palm M515
Review: My Palm 515m works fine. Was shipped on time and I paid a reasonable price. I am happy with my product. More4Less delivered as promised and I received all the software. Thanx More4Less.

Summary: New Graffiti2 not worth the trouble
Review: I have been a Palm user since my first Palm V I purchased in 1998. Since then, I have become fairly adept at the Graffiti writing system. However, when I purchased a new Palm m515 I found the new writing system too different to get used to and not worth the trouble. In particular, the "t"'s and "i"'s now required 2 strokes instead of one. I tried for several weeks to get used to the new writing system but decided to abandon it in the end because it was taking me way too much time to undo the shorthand I had become accustomed to.

Instead, I found other non-Palm OS (Microsoft Pocket PC) PDAs to have the old Graffiti writing system that I'm used to and even a natural hand-writing recognition software. Write in script, and it converts your handwriting into text. I couldn't believe it and certainly can't imagine why anyone would bother with Graffiti2.

My recommendation for users like me who are used to the old Graffiti system is to seriously consider a Pocket PC instead. It'll do everything your old Palm did and more. Take this from a (formerly) loyal Palm user.

Summary: fantastic item
Review: I use my m515 religiously... It does everything I could want it to do. And, it integrates with Mac OS X without a problem. It synchronizes with iCal, Address Book, and Mail using Apple's iSync Conduit and the AppleMail Conduit. If you use Microsoft Entourage, it works with that too. Apart from managing my schedule and contacts, I use mine to take notes in class, play games, or even read books (on long car trips or flights). It even has a vibrating alert to get your attention if you're in class or in a meeting. Despite its size, the little wonder is extremely rugged. You won't hurt it by dropping it. And, it's very comfortable in your hand. I highly recommend this to anyone, particularly very active people always on the go.

Summary: A great color PDA w/ Palm OS
Review: Upgraded from a Handspring Visor Edge to the m515. After doing the research I decided to stick with the Palm OS but change brands for a number of reasons. (1) The m515 comes with the full version of Datviz Documents to Go (not premium version which you can upgrade to) which you will need if you want to make your Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files portable; (2) I wanted a color screen but did not want to spend over $250. I wish the screen was high res (320 x 320 pixels) but I can live without that. Some of the Pocket PC models have great high res screens but I am not convinced that their synchronization abilities are as seamless as Palm's; (3) It is a piece of art in itself combining form and function.

I bought the extended warranty from Palm for $40 since there seems to be some design issues with this model.

Summary: Sick of Palm's Sudden-Death thing--Switching to BlackBerry
Review: This is the third Palm I've had in four years. I used to be a huge fan. I took good care of my Palm and told everyone how great it was. Then the first two Palms-- first one, then the other within a year--just STOPPED WORKING from one second to the next, and nothing from Tech Support could bring them back to life. Of course, this Sudden Death happened while I was traveling (the first time) and moving (the second time) so until I could get back to my computer, I was royally screwed for committing everything to Palm! Thinking the PDAs might have died because they were in constant use and a couple of years old, I bought a brand new Palm m515 in May: I had an international move coming up and didn't want the problem to happen again. In August (in the middle of the move, with the desktop in storage for two months-- thanks Palm) it also just suddenly stopped working. Several months later, after many, many phone calls and emails, I received a new m515 cost-free. I coddled it! Funny how the battery kept draining. However, three weeks ago HotSync suddenly stopped working from one hour to the next, even though absolutely nothing has changed on my system. No one has been able to fix it. The advice from Palm has been less than useless. I have heard too many stories like mine about Palm. I am switching to paper for now and if I get another handheld, it won't be a Palm.

Summary: Palm is a no no
Review: I have had this 515 six months and am returning it to palm a second time for the same reason, it simply dies. I took very good care of it. The first time it took forever to get a replacement, and i had to have our IT manager deal with them as they would not even give me a return authorization code so I could return it. I am finished with Palm, the technology on there end is unimpressive compared to what Dell is doing (Axim pocket PC), and Dell is MUCH easier to deal with. I am returning everything to Palm with a letter, we will see what happens, and if they stand behind there efforts..... I should also mention this is my second Palm, and I am not going for strike three...........
