Summary: Screen Cracks if you Push On Case!
Review: I bought this case because I take my Palm with me everywhere and I thought the hard case would keep it safe. Unfortunately the hard case CAUSED my screen to crack!

Here is why: On the inside, opposite the screen, are brackets for keeping extra memory cards. They stick out higher than the rest, so if you push on the case from the outside, they go right into the screen and crack it! It doesn't take much presure either.

Palm does not consider this to be a design defect and won't pay to fix the damaged screen. If you buy this case, be very carefull not to let anything ever push against it. Actually, you may want to consider a protective case for the protective case!

Summary: I really really like it!
Review: I bought this case the day after I bought my TungstenE and found that I didn't like the flap cover. I really really like this case! I don't what people are doing with it to their to break the hinges and to have it fall apart! I can use one hand to open the case and flip the cover backwards to read e-books daily. I've also dropped it a couple of times, once on gravel in the street and it held up well.

Only things I wish for in this case is for access to the headphone, miniUSB and power jacks. Other than that, it serves what it does for me.

Summary: great protection for you new palm
Review: I bought this case the day after I got the tungsten e. Do not use the built-in flip cover that comes with the palm. The flip cover ACTUALLY SCRATCHES THE PALM. I found that out the hard way. Other people complain that they can't get to the stylus or power button with this case, umm there was a piece of foam inside the packaging to prop the palm up inside the case. The foam puts pressure on the palm so that it doesn't rattle around in there, it also makes accesing the stylus and power button a cinch. Use your heads people. The case is very sexy looking being that it is sparkley aluminum, and it is slim and sleek, adding barely no weight or bulk to the palm. I think this is a great product that serves it's primary purpose to protect the palm, as well as adding a sexy look to an already sexy looking handheld.

Summary: bullet-proof, but not functional
Review: I chose this case for my Tungsten E because I have a habit of dropping things...I dropped my old Palm IIIxe in a leather case and cracked the screen just two weeks after buying it! I've used this hard case for 3 months now, and that's all I can take. This case really does protect the PDA and the metallic finish is great. But if your looking to enjoy a hassle-free, user-centered experience, I think you'll be dissappointed after you envelope your new Tungsten E inside this vault. When closed, the PDA will rattle around inside like it wants outta there. To turn the unit on via the power button or to use the stylus, you will have to open the front half of the case then separate the PDA from the back half to gain access. When charging or syncing, you need to perform a similar maneuver. Beaming a file to another PDA is equally awkward because the IR port is covered...you'll need to to fan out the pda from the two halves of the case. I'd like to use my MP3 player more often, but I don't because there's no access to the headphone port when the case is close. Finally, the case is a full 3/4" thick when closed...not exactly comfortable in your pocket. It's to the point that I'm really not using my PDA because the case makes it too much of a hassel. I would trade in the bullet-proof protection for a case which provides access to all ports and maintains the thin profile. I'm really quite surprised that PalmOne put their brand on this product.

Summary: Didn't hold up at all
Review: I had a RhinoSkin hard case for my old Palm Vx that saved it from several drops. When I got my new Tungsten E I knew I HAD to have a good hard case. I'm sorry I wasted my money on this one. After a few drops, the connecting post broke off from the case. Accessing the on/off button and stylus is a pain. The only good feature that I don't see in other is the double hinge that allows the case to fold back, but I won't get another one of these. I am in the market for a more durable case!

Summary: Case works
Review: I have had a hard case for more that a year. Over time it has been falling apart and I now have to buy another one. At $22 it has accomplished the job it was made for and that is to protect my $200 Tungsten E. I would rather buy a new case every year than buy a new Palm every year.
The areas of failure on my case are the regions that perform a mechnical function using plastic. One hinge broke (reason for a new purchase), lid latch broke, and the attachment slider does not hold anymore.
I would prefer to have a case with improvements but I don't see a better one out there at this time. The access problems are an inconvenience but workable considering the benefit of unit protection. I hope my second case lasts at least a year like the first one, then it will continue meet absolute minimum expectations.

Summary: Good protection for your Tungsten E
Review: I have had my Palm and the hard case for about two weeks now. The case is very nice looking and gives a high degree of protection to the unit. I am a teacher and a student and will be carrying this around in a book bag. I wanted strong protection and this case provides it. It is very nice looking with a clean design and brushed aluminum (not plastic) exterior. There is plastic in the interior that cradles the unit and provides storage for two SD cards. The case opens easily with one hand and the lid folds completely around to the back where it is out of the way. Because of the extreme range of motion offered by the hinge I suspect it could be broken fairly easily. The loose fit of the unit in the plastic allows easy access to the stylus well and the off/on switch. Holding the open case in my left hand I can easily tilt it forward a little and allow the unit to swing out enough to reach the stylus and switch. In the same way gaining access to the USB and power ports is easy. While it does move around in the case I don't think it moves much. I am confident this case will protect my unit against most hazards it will encounter in my book bag. If you want maximum convenience and minimal protection then this case is probablyl not for you. If you can live with a little extra bulk and want greater protection for your unit then this case will probably fill your need

Summary: Breaks easily but has 1 yr warranty with free replacement
Review: I have had two major problems with my case. First off, my case opens up all the time while it is in my bag. This caused the unit to turn itself on and off. Hence the power drained and the unit malfunctioned. Second, like the others, my plastic latch broke after 3 months. I called Palm, got transferred around and around (tech support is in India!) and FINALLY reached Corporate Customer Care. Here's their number; 408-503-7000, then select option #4. You'll hold for 30 mins but heck I just saved you a ton of time and aggravation by giving you the number it took me half a day to get a hold of!! THIS CASE HAS A ONE YEAR WARRANTY and PALM REPLACED IT FOR FREE without requiring me to send the broken one back to them! I passed this info on to a friend who had the same problem with her case and they replaced her case as well...no charge! Maybe if they have to send new cases to EVERYONE who has a broken latch they will modify the design...SO CALL!

Summary: apples and oranges
Review: I just got this case and am very happy with it. The things listed in the other reviews are an issue if you're looking for a different type of case. However this one is great for the type of design that it is.It completely encloses around the device so the stylus and the hotsync plug are not accessible when it's closed and you do have to lift it out a little to get to the stylus and to plug it to the charger and to do a hotsync but that's just the design of the case. I have no trouble opening it with one hand. One thing that i was a little concerned about before buying was about the lid. I was concerned as to whether it would be ontrusive or not but it folds all the way back behind and out of the way. This is a great case if it's the type of case you are looking for. But if you're looking for something just for easy access then it's probably not the case you want. No other case would offer as much protection though.

Summary: I have never written a review before, so good I had to.
Review: I looked at this hard case and decided not to buy it because of the bad reviews I read about it. I bought a leather case instead for my Tungsten E that lasted for 2 months before it fell apart. Lack of options lead me back to the hard case and I am so glad I bought it. I only wish I wouldn't have wasted the money on the leather case.

I have never taken my palm out of the case to sync or charge it. I turn it on with the four power buttons at the bottom. I turn it off with the stylus in my hand, it reaches the power button without having to lift the palm out of the case. I do have to lift the palm up to put the stylus back in but it only takes a second. The case does not scratch my palm. The silver case looks very classy and elegant. I feel that my palm is very secure and safe when in my case. I can't help but gush, you should have seen what I had been using.
