Rating: Summary: Not AT&T Quality Review: I found this phone for half off at Sam's Club in their returns area. All it was missing was one battery and the main unit AC adaptor, but a trip to Radio Shack solved both of those problems. We bought the multi-handset phone because we live in an old home that doesn't have phone jacks where we want them and this phone was supposed to take care of that. However, this particular phone is not nearly as good as another AT&T phone I own. First off, most times I pick up the phone to make a call the line has a lot of static. With a cordless phone you would normally change channels when that happens, but this phone doesn't have a channel button. The problem is sometimes solved by putting the handset in the base for a few seconds and taking it back out. It works well then. Also, the battery seems to run out very easily when the phone is not in use. I can talk on it for a long time, but it will drain within 3 days of being off the charger, not in use. This is with a new battery. And again, my old AT&T cordless phone which cost only $20 didn't have this problem.
Rating: Summary: Stay far away from this phone Review: My husband and I purchased this phone in Nov.'02 thinking it was great. It had the dual handsets, digital answering machine and multiple message boxes. And at first, it worked great. But a few months after we bought it, it started getting a little screwy. The first thing we noticed was that the display would sometimes read "No Line" or "Extension in Use" and there was no obvious reason why. After messing around with the buttons or replacing it on the charger, it would go away. It charges terribly. If I had it off the charger for even ONE night, it would go dead the next day. This last summer (after only 8 months) the battery died in our main handset. I was sure it SHOULD have lasted longer. We couldn't find a replacement battery (and still can't) so it's just been laying around, useless, and we've been using the secondary set. Well, today that one died completely. It's only been 11 months and we're shopping for a new phone. After shelling out a substantial amount of money for this one. My advice? Stay away from this particular phone. I've heard of some people having good luck with other AT&T models, but I doubt this is one of them.
Rating: Summary: DON'T BOTHER! Review: I'm getting "buyer's assurance" credit from Visa on this phone because it stopped working after little more than a year. It beeps constantly, going out of service randomly. Batteries have been replaced a number of times so that isn't the problem. Don't waste your time.
Rating: Summary: Worse Phone that I have ever used Review: This phone is one of the worse phones that I have ever used. We purchased this phone because other phones that we had in the house had started to fail.We purchased one of these phones, one of the things tht we did like was that it came with two phones so that we could use it in differenet rooms. Well it only was useful for about 2 months. Well that was all we got out of it, after that one phone would hold a charge for about an hr or so. The other one would not even let you finish a short conversation. The unit would go dead. Now the unit that is the extra one will not even charge the unit. Now I called ATT about the phones, all they had to tell me was that I could get a new set of batteries for it. Or if I wanted it replaced I could send it in, and be without a phone for 14 business days. I have had other ATT phones that have been wonderful. I have a 9955 on my desk and it is great, it has not missed a beat. STAY FAR away from this phone. Get something that works. Or have a good backup when you need to send this one in, you can still have a phone in the house.
Rating: Summary: one star is generous.. Review: This is the worst phone I've ever owned. The incoming messages on the answering machine are barely intelligible and both handsets constantly read out of service. Many phone calls get missed trying to get one of these units to actually answer the call. This system was a huge disappointment. I really expected better quality from AT&T. It will be the last AT&T phone I purchase.
Rating: Summary: Should have listened to my gut feeling! Review: Purchased this AT&T product in Dec. 2001 Of course just as everyone else, I have always thought that AT&T would indeed have the best quality line of phones. Side Note: I purchased a very simple AT&T corded night stand telephone (similar to model 210) about a year ago. However, about 10 months later the #1 keypad key no longer funtioned properly. I tossed it into the garage thinking that perhaps it was just a lemon that squeaked by the quality checks. Anyways: I opened the box to my new AT&T 2255 Cordless phone and hooked everything up. Immediately and to my Surprise, my first phone call with the telephone indicated a terrible Digital Full-Duplex Technology. In "laymans terms", Whenever the other caller begins to speak while you are still talking: THERE IS AN AUDIBLE CLICK ON THE PHONE LINE. This sound comes from the telephone's hardware attempting to switch the signal over from sending to receiving. Full-Duplex refers to the ability of any communication device to transmit and receive information in both directions simultaneously. I.E. Half Duplex = Walkie - Talkie Full Duplex = Telephone To make a long story short....this telephone uses cheap internal full duplex tecnology. Before you say "perhaps you just got a lemon" I did indeed return the telephone for another telephone and the same audible click was present in the second telephone. However, my wife fell in love with the telephone's various feaures and demanded that we keep it. And now, I finally disconnected the 2255 telephone because recently it has been cutting or terminating phone calls without warning. Life Span for the $... telephone 6 months. Conclusion, where are these telephones manufactured? After 3 telephones I believe that AT&T has resorted to increasing profits by using inferior telephone technology and parts. I gave this telephone 1 star because this system prevents me from giving the telephone 0 stars.
Rating: Summary: Do Not Buy Review: The sound is terrible, especially for the person you're talking to. The audio could not be worse. This seemed like a great concept, but it just doesn't work, at least with this phone.
Rating: Summary: Worst of class Review: Just a quick recommendation: Do not buy this phone. Abysmal performance, poor digital answering system, arcane directions, and overall lousy performance. Buy any brand than this one. Given one star only because once everything was off, it worked ok as a basic phone system. We replaced with a Panasonic base with three handsets. This one operated as expected and as the AT&T should have.
Rating: Summary: Still undecided Review: For the first time I spent a lot of money on a phone ... in the hopes it would be perfect and I'd have it forever. In the showroom it looks perfect. The design and ergonomics are among the best I've seen. It's a joy to look at and hold the handset and click the buttons. The problem is I'm getting a constant nasty buzzing sound on the line. I assumed it was just me, maybe I have something interfering with the phone. But [other] people are citing the exact same problem. If I can't fix the buzz the phone is going back. The other disadvantage, which I knew about when I bought it, is the answering machine is good for only 15 minutes. 15 minutes is nothing. I don't see any reason why it shouldn't keep at least an hour's worth. My theory about this is that AT&T would prefer you sign up for their paid voice mail service rather than enjoy the free service of an answering machine.
Rating: Summary: We like this phone. Review: We've owned this phone for a few months and it works well. The battery life hasn't been an issue for us because we usually put the phone back in its charger when we're done. It has been very durable. My Wife is a "butter-fingers" (she'll be the first to admit it) and so this phone gets dropped every day or two onto a tile floor and so far it keeps working. It has lasted longer than any cordless phone we have used. The sound quality is very good. The only thing I find fault with is that the answering machine keeps recording for a minute or so after the caller hangs up.
