Summary: Phone that could use some improvement
Review: This phone has some decent/neat features - Dual keypads, Speakerphone on base and handset, light on handset to indicate there is a new message, battery life is decent. However there are several annoying features on the implementation and/or not on phone - to transfer a call from speaker to headset (even the same handset) you must put the person on hold then pickup or you will disconnect the line, this phone cannot have more than 2 headset (not an issue in my case), the phone list cannot be transferred from 1 phone to the other, cannot conference using two handsets, the earpiece is actually the exposed speaker, the range isn't any better (actually a little worse) than 2.4 ghz phones although a little louder/clearer than Siemens 4215 (and much better battery life.

Summary: Very pleased so far
Review: Read the reviews on here and bought this phone set. It's very nice looking. Controls work well. One of our favorite features is the remote handsets have blinking lights if messages exist on the answering machine. Sounds silly, but nice to not have to always walk into our home office to check the machine. Much easier to just look across the family room.

Several reviews (including Amazons) indicate you can expand this set w/ additional handsets. We have not tried this, but Uniden's sales and support staff have both told me personally that this is not possible. If it works, great...but I've heard nothing factual that would indicate this yet and don't plan to go buy another phone to test it out.

Other nice features include speakerphones in the handsets and different ring styles and volumes. Also, I do think the machine's voice incoming & outgoing recording is acceptable. All in all, it's the nicest phone combo set we've ever owned.

*Only owned for one week, but so far so good.

Summary: Excellent Telephone!
Review: I give this telephone excellent ratings! I actually work in the telecommunications industry, and I sell several different phones...this one beats all of them! We initially purchased this Uniden brand mainly because of the dual handsets, digital answering machine, and the other features. I was initially skeptical, because of some people's reviews I saw on here being less than positive, however, like the old saying goes, everyone has an opinion (it doesn't mean it's right). I'm just glad I go with my instinct...the range and reception on this phone is phenomenal! The ring tones add a nice "perk" to it, and especially since you can program a specific ring tone for specific people calling in, the orange lighting is different as well.

I've been selling telephones & working within the telecommunications industry for years now, and I haven't seen anything better!

Summary: Terrific features, high quality, and slick
Review: This is clearly one of the best consumer cordless telephones on the market today. The sound quality is excellent, the battery life on the handsets is outstanding, the clarity on the speakerphones (both in the base unit and the handsets) is commercial quality, and the looks are clean and polished.

I particularly like the range of the phone. I live on a fairly large property and am able to go anywhere outside or inside with perfect reception.

I've read a few of the other comments here and there appears to be some misinformation in those comments. One wrote that the phone is not extensible past the two handsets that come with the phone. This is not true, you may add two more handsets. I purchased two additional handsets and now have four. They all work very well in conjunction with one another.

Also, I get a good number of messages everyday and have yet to run out of space on the message machine. The average message is around 30 seconds or less. That's at least 20 messages a day. If you delete messages after listening to them (as is probably good practice anyway), I don't think most people would have any problems with the message capacity.

The phone is a dream to set-up as well. Very intuitive and simple. I am very pleased with this phone and would absolutely purchase it again.

Summary: Phone Needs WORK
Review: I can confirm some of the negative comments this phone has:

--- Low Memory for Answering Machine (10 Mintes--talk about cheap Product Managers!)

--- Signal knock my wireless network off kilter. My 2.4 ghz ATT phone just had minor problems where others could sometimes barely hear me on the other end. This prompted me to get this phone. Everytime I use the phone, with my laptop near me, my wirless connection is KNOCKED out. I thereby have to reboot my lappy or even have to go to the router to reset it.

--- The voice quality is rather substandard. Kind of staticy and echoish. For $..., this is a MAJOR no no.

--- The paint job is CHEAP and scratches will be very noticeable in the short term.

--- Can't speak on both phones at the same time!! What were they thinking when they released this product?!

I have had good experience with the Uniden 900 mhz Extend-A-Phone which I still have to this day. Fantastic sound and about 25 minutes digital record time....Fast forward several years later and the quality has gone substantially down with this brand--obviously cost-cutting and profit margins has diluted the brand.

The good things about this phone are:

+++ Speaker phone on base and phone.

+++ Good phone book function. Intuitive (at least for me).

+++ Stylish.

+++ Nice tactile touch of buttons.

Aside from this, I'm returning this phone. It's sad. Really sad. I'm going back in time and will buy a much cheaper antique 900 mhz phone with speaker phone on base. Since Uniden was good in the old days, I'll seek one out from that time (as most phones today have severe problems in one way or the other).

Summary: Excellent Phone!!!
Review: This phone is extremely good. I primarily wanted it because of the looks... it ties with everything I have currently. Well, because of some of the bad reviews I've read, I was skeptical. So I bought this from a local wholeseller so that if it really was bad, I can just driver over there and get my money back. So far, I haven't had to do that. The phone is very clear and loud... people heard me clear and I called home I can hear the other end pretty clear. So my conclusion is that some people have some strange RF interferances or a defect...

I only wished it had more ring tones, the ability to download more ring tones, vibrator mode, a female voice instead of male, a better belt strap, color LCD, games, an address book, memo/notes, a calander, scheduler, birthday reminders, synthesized female voice text reader, audio out ports for overhead speaker integration or something, and a free t-shirt... Anyway, this phone currently has everything I dreamed of 6 years ago... so as for my new wishes, it's only a matter of time. lol

Summary: Your Mileage May Vary
Review: While I was satisfied with the audio quality of the phone, the range was actually much worse than my older 2.4 GHz or 900 MHz phones. Worse, the Uniden would cut in and out when I neared the end of my indoor range, meaning I would actually lose parts of the conversation. My Panasonic 2.4GHz just clicks a bit when I'm near the end of the range. The Uniden could not cover the length of my large two-bedroom apartment. Frankly, I expected a lot more from this phone.

Summary: Not Impressed
Review: I purchased the phone and I wasnt too thrilled with the look of it. When I looked at other phones out there it seemed OK. The phone is a little hard to use and figure out. It doesnt seem to be very clear and also has ok range.

I wasnt happy with the price I paid for it. I am going to return it.

By the way - I e-mailed Uniden and no response - horrible customer service

Summary: Beautiful Phone - Terrible reception
Review: Yes, you will be tempted to buy this phone because of its looks, and because it is cheaper than the Panasonic 5.8Ghz phone.

However, I couldn't go more than 10 feet out of my house without the call breaking up. Even inside, right next to the base, there is a slight, but noticable white-noise hum in the background of every call. I should note that I tried this phone at my office, and at home with the same results.

The other problem, as other reviews note, is that you can only use 1 handset at a time. I exchanged this phone for the Panasonic 51xx series. I am now satified. There is no comparison, as far as reception goes.
