Rating: Summary: Best sound for the money!! Review: The first thing I did after opening the box was to plug these headphones into my newer discman, which is the Sony D-EJ615. The sound is good, strong and full, but the bass is too heavy, the treble was too weak, and that muddied up the sound. Dissappointed, I tried them with my home stereo, and also my older discman (circa 1996). On these, the sound is beautiful and clear, I'm listening to Kid A and hearing textures that I didn't hear before. I don't know much about audio electronics, but I'm guessing that my newer discman isn't giving the headphones enough power. So beware if you're buying these headphones for a mobile device. One other small thing, the reason why I'm giving the HD433 four stars instead of five. The headphones clamp around the ears rather tightly, and can become uncomfortable after wearing for extended periods.
Rating: Summary: Good item for the money Review: The Sennheiser HD433 headphones have been a pleasant surprise, especially given their modest price. They are very light-weight and comfortable, and give reasonable sound reproduction for open air headphones. You won't be shaken to your roots with heavy bass notes, but for routine music listening it is hard to go wrong with these HD433s.
Rating: Summary: Best in their Class Review: The sound quality of these headphones is AWESOME! They have incredible bass and shimmering highs. Some say the midrange is a little low, but I haven't noticed any major problem there. The long cord is very handy when you are moving about; if you find it too long, roll it up with an elastic band. All things considered, these are probably the best for their size and price. Speaking of price, these headphones aren't cheap (I paid $50 CDN), but the their quality more than makes up for the price. The only dislikes I have with these gems is the ear pads and their looks. The outward appearance is not as jazzy as I'd like, though a more conservative crowd might like it. Sennheiser has some similar headphones with much sportier styling for the same price, but lower audio quality; I'd go for the quality over the looks. The ear pads: your ears will feel very warm after a couple minutes of wearing (great for cold days though). Overall, I am very pleased with these headphones and would buy them again. They work well with portable units as well as a home audio system.
Rating: Summary: Best kept secret! Review: These are by far the best headphones one can purchase for less then $50 and are better than many which cost much more than that. Lets start with the fact that they are supremely comfortable. Lets face it, if you are wearing headphones, it doesn't matter how exquisite they sound if they are so painful that you need a break every 15 minutes to let your ears stop hurting. The large ear-pieces are perfectly (yet lightly) padded, have just enough play front to back, and adjust easily up and down to fit just about anybody. Having said that, how DO they sound? In a word, AMAZING. They have just the right level of base, and an impressive threshold at the other end as well. Furthermore, it doesn't matter if you plug them into your portable CD player, your computer, or your big powerful stereo, these headphones deliver crips highs, deep lows, and can handle just about any bass-boosting technology available on the market today. I put these to the ultimate test: I popped Blue Man Group into my stereo and cranked it. This is probably the MOST DEMANDING music for any headphone to effectively reproduce and I literally felt like I was in the front row of one of their rip-roaring performances. These headphones are a must ... for the miser and music lover alike. Thank you, Amazon, for making these available to those of us who can't find them in stores. Oh, one more thing ... the cord is definitely long enough!
Rating: Summary: Good sound, but I want more. Review: These are great sounding headphones -- I have no complaint with their sonic qualities. I have a minor complaint with the quantity, however. I don't know if it's because it takes more juice to drive the larger coils in these, or if headphones are now made so that they can't damage your ears by getting too loud, but these headphones are not loud enough. My old [cruddy] Sony's are significantly louder with the same driving source. I recognize that this is generally not a characteristic that is important for most headphone buying folk. But I wear headphones when I practice my drums, and when I wear these, I can't hear the music over the din of my banging. In other respects, these are a fine pair of headphones and reproduce music into your ears very well.
Rating: Summary: Excellent for the price Review: These are probably the best headphones you'll find in this price range. They'll never compare to really nice over-the-ear designs like Sennheiser's higher-end models, but they make a great bargain for something you can take with you almost anywhere, without worrying too much over theft or damage. I use them with the computer and a portable CD player; I haven't noticed any of the lack of bass several other reviews have complained about. While they aren't as bass-heavy as the latest Sony MegaEarDrumBurster model, these can actually reproduce more than one bass note! Imagine that! Almost every set of headphones in this price range seems to cram everything below about 1 KHz into a low rumbling; these manage to actually reproduce decent bass. As for comfort, they are great - as long as you take care to put the little plastic nubbin in the center over roughly over your ear canal. They can get a little warm in summer, though. One final tip: the 10ft cord can get a little annoying. Just loop it up a few times near the plug and zip-tie it off to get the length more managable.
Rating: Summary: My girlfriend Loves them! Review: These headphones are a great buy. I use them with my Portable Panasonic DVD player(which is also an outstanding product) and they work great. The only problem is that my girlfriend hogs them and I get stuck using inferior phones that came with my walkman. They could use a volume switch though. Also, they could stand to be a little bit louder, but I bought a splitter/amplifier from Boostaroo.com and now they are loud, proud and comfortable.
Rating: Summary: Excellent pair of headphones Review: These headphones are great. They are very sturdy and are comfortable. They have a rich bass that sounds very good with most popular music. I purchased them as an adjunct to the crummy pair that came with my Rio Volt. The cord is a little long - about 10 feet, so one has to figure out something to do with all of the slack. The over the ear method of delivering sound does not do as well as wrap around or in the ear phones for limiting sound to the individual that is listening to the music. Comes with a nice adapter for use in phono plugs. Overall, these headphones are an excellent value. It is hard to believe they were only [money]
Rating: Summary: The best headphones under $30 on the market! Review: These headphones are without a doubt the best under $30 headphones on the market. The sound is actually more full than a very expensive pair of Sony noise-reduction headphones that I wear. I thought initially that the pads on the earphones were really huge and unnecessary, but they make the headphones extremely comfortable and suitable for long-term use. I've now had them at my computer and they've replaced several pairs of Sony headphones that I previously used -- they simply don't compare. You can't go wrong with these headphones.
Rating: Summary: not such a good deal Review: These headphones really lack in bass, they get distorted easily.
