Summary: Pretty good value
Review: Had mine for a little over a week. Overall I really like them, the only thing I wish they had done a little better is the "tuning". Occasionally, in order to eliminate static, you have to adjust the tuning knob on the base or on the headset. It would have been nice if this feature was more "automatic". I love the fact that the headset automatically charges when put on the base (no need to buy batteries). I also like the "Voice Call" feature which lets someone talk to the headphones user without having to scream.Its audio output is also flexible (allows for either headphone jack or A/V input.)

Summary: Very Reliable and Descent sound
Review: I have had these headphones for about 2 years. Sound quality is ok, and the battery life is ok, but these have been indestructable. Distance from base is fine from anywhere in my 2 story house. The only issue I have with them is the "leatherette" ear pads. The "leather" started to flake off of the pads, so I just ripped all of it off leaving behind the soft padding below. I am giving this unit only 4 stars because of the bulky size and average sound quality. For TV listening, these are great. I would recomend these to a friend.

Review: I have owned these headphones for around 6 months now. The tuning is really finicky and the sound is limited to a very narrow band of tuning. Distance available is household, but can go up to over 300 feet on very good days. I do have problems even sitting next to the transponder. Since the antenna is in the earpiece, turning your head can cause static spots. While thse are decent headphones, they can get your ears hot and the top of the headphones stand up about 2 inches above your head. So, if you don't mind looking like you are wearing a helmet and listening to occasional static along with a constant background humming, then these are ok to get.

Summary: Very happy with my purchase
Review: I purchased this for my 72 year old father who has poor hearing and was having difficulty making out what was being said on the tv or when playing his vcr tapes (he has chosen not to wear his hearing aid). He also needed a way not to disturb his wife at night when listening to the tv. After doing considerable research, I decided on wireless, non-infrared, headphones (he will sometimes fall asleep on the bed still listening to the radio or tv, so I needed something that would handle that scenario) and have just hooked up the new headphones tonight. I have always been happy with the JVC brand in the past owning that brand in a handheld camcorder, two tvs and vcr. I was deliberating between the JVC and a $20 more expensive Sony model in the same headphone category. On Walmart's website, they had the same JVC headphone but for $20 more and didn't even have it stocked locally. I therefore decided to go with this JVC model from Amazon. It arrived more quickly than I expected even with the free shipping. The quality of the materials were very much up to expectations. When I tried the headphones first with an older model VCR that did not allow me to plug in both the white and red connectors but only the single end (I'm not an electronics expert obviously), the sound was very low and pretty much drowned out by the static. When I used a vcr that was only 4 years old that had a place for the red and white plugs, the sound was very clear with plenty of volume and no static once I tuned them in. Since we are not using this to listen to music, I won't venture an opinion as to how perfectly it reproduces that quality. For tv/vcr use, it comes across as equivalent to what we could hear before and my general impression is that of a 900 MHz cordless phone, only with headphones instead. I imagine I could also use it to listen to c-span.org audio/video archived recordings on my computer as long as I'm not moving around since it tends to go through static areas, but even then if sufficiently motivated (while cooking dinner for example), I feel they would probably be fine. I found the controls very handy which surprised me given some earlier reviews. I wish there was a more intuitive way of knowing absolutely that the batteries were recharging (since I worry whether the headphones have "seated" correctly) and when they have fully recharged. If there is no audio signal, there is a light that helps as a clue, but since my father is using this with a vcr that is always on (fewer decisions to make), the light stays the same. I consider this only a minor inconvenience. From what I know now and for the application I'm using it for, I am very happy with the purchase.

Summary: They're not bad!
Review: I've had these headphones for a month now. I decided to buy them regardless of some bad reviews. These are radio signal receiving headphones, they recieve a signal from the base/charging unit. I have it plugged into my computer at work and they're excellent. The sound quality is good for just listening while you're working do not buy these if you're into hearing every detail. Sure, there's some radio static in the background but its nothing that will make you toss them across the room. Definetly worth the price!

Summary: Not ready for prime time
Review: Just not worth the money. Wouldn't be worth even $20 because it just doesn't work well. Wasn't looking for perfect sound but way too much static even when sitting right in front of the receiver with a full charge on the headphones. I'm not sure if it's just this product (this was my 1st set) or if wireless headphones in general aren't ready for general use. I disliked it so much I returned them.

Summary: Can I give "-10" stars?
Review: JVC didn't consider aerodynamics when they designed this headphone. The HAW300RF flies awkward, when you throw it against a preferably hard surface. Also, it requires several impacts before breaking and doesn't shatter to a million pieces taking out the fun from even destroying it L (also it causes serious dents on the wall) Buy a porcelain panda to put on the top of your TV! you're better off. If you bought this already... My advice is, just simply don't turn it on.
But if you do, first expect that you have to "tune" it to the
frequency the transmitter (the base unit) *questionably* operates on. You have to toy with it for a good while to get a VERY! lo-fi signal at best. (DO NOT expect a Hi-Fi sound or even anything near) Now the fun comes! The unit occasionally loses the signal by turning your head one way or another and 120dB white noise will cut bat shaped Halloween cookies from your eardrums. I guess the idea is that after the third time this happens, you won't be able to tell the difference between Hi-Fi and Lo-Fi anyway, so you'll stop complaining about the sound quality. Another funny design trick is that the base unit automatically turns off after a certain [short] period of silence. For example when you're searching for a song on a tape. ... what happens is when the base unit turns itself off, the head unit blasts a full throttle brain damage level noise... right through your head. I was witnessed several times breaking Charles Austin's world record of the high jump (that's 2.39m!) Very disappointing. Unusable

Review: Per other reviews, this product does not even come close to the quality stated. Requires constant tuning even when sitting close to source. Excessive static and noise. Very disappointed. Will return and replace with Sony brand.

Summary: nice design, but don't recomend
Review: Rechargeable batteries not replaceable without sending unit back to manufacture. No automatic mute when signal is lost from base unit. Signal cuts off and on from base unit and sound is damaging to ears. Cannot put in regular batteries while Nicads are recharging. Can't use at all while recharging, period. I took mine back for refund. Bought Sony's for replacement.
