Summary: Unbeatable quality for the price
Review: The Sony MDRCD180 headphones aren't studio quality, but you absolutely cannot find better headphones for such a low price. They're worth well more than the $12-15 you'll pay for them.

Sound quality is very good, with all frequencies well-represented. The headphones do tend to emphasize low midrange, but not to an extreme extent. Bass is very good; not as impressive as Sony's more expensive models, but it bumps nonetheless. One caveat, though: These are very quiet. You're going to have to set the volume a bit higher than normal for a "comfortable" listening level, and pump it up more than usual for overwhelming sound.

If you're looking for a good pair of headphones for a low price to use around the house, or whatever, these are the ones. No other sub-$20 set comes close -- heck, no sub-$50 pair comes close. Unfortunately, these aren't recommended for jogging, working out, or any other physical activities like that, because of their size. Buy a nice pair of earbuds for that.

Summary: Very Very Nice
Review: THe sound is very very nice, crisp, clear on everything. I bought them just for general use which include just regular computer sounds. Music much better. THese are very comfortable as well! I could wear them for hours! O yea, and if your a snowboarder, these would be very nice to listen to stuff while riding. And theyll keep ur ears nice n toasty! but, they dont make ur ears hot while you are inside (which is good). I give these headphones four stars because of their inexpensiveness, styleness, and totally awesome music quality!

Summary: There Pretty good
Review: These are a really good pair of headphones. Not amazing or anything but for the price they are very good.

I've had these headphones for about 2 years now, and i have never had a problem with them. They fit very nice, they super comfortable, good quality sound. And they have a good brand name on them.

But the only disadvantage to these headphones is that, yes...it is fragile. I personally have never broken them before and i have had them for two years. But i could see how people could easily break them. If you decide to buy these you should handle them with care. I have never had a problem with them, and i have had them for 2 years.

But besides that they are well worth the price. And you will be happy you bought them

Summary: Good But not a good portable set
Review: These headphones are good for the price with good sound. They aren't very good for portable cdplayers because of the large ear covers and the long cord.they have better sound than all my previous headphones including my cousins which has terrible bass.
PROS:Good sound,comfortable fit
CONS:Not very good for portables and not very good style, too plain.
overall these are good for the price but not good for portable cdplayers.I am twelve years old and not stupid like the computer thinks when I made this!!!!!!

Summary: My Sony Walkman Earphones Have Better Sound!
Review: These headphones are horrible! The sound level is terrible and you wind up having to put the volume up so high that you wind up blowing the speakers!

I got these headphones about 3 or 4 years ago and it is quite possible that Sony has worked out and fixed all of the problems with them but I'm not going to blow my hard earned cash on buying a new pair just to find out if they worked out the bugs or not and from my own personal experience I can tell ya that I have been very disppointed with these headphones and that I get better sound through my little Sony Walkman earphones!

Summary: Middle of the road....
Review: These headphones are not very expensive. Don't expect the sound quality you would get from Koss or Sienhoffer headphones that cost upwards of $200. The bass is a little high, but that can be fixed with an equalizer. The headband could use some padding, but I've worn them for several hours at a stretch and never had a problem.

I use these with my laptop computer to listen to MP3s while I work. I've also sat through DVDs on plane trips with them. For the price, they are a good buy.

Why 3 stars?:
These headphones do not have the sound quality of more expensive models, but the price is good and the quality is fine. They could stand to be a bit more comfortable, but at this price, I don't mind sticking them in a laptop bag and risk having them broken because I can replace them cheaply.

Summary: Best Quality for the Price
Review: These headphones are the battle-seasoned veterans of my audio equipment. They've been with me for two years, through all kinds of horrible weather that they experienced while I was out walking, and remarkably stayed intact. They are solidly built, although a complaint in that department that I have is that the ear cups are loud - squeaking, and, thus, disturbing me when my head moves at all. This, and a long cord, are the only complaints that I have about these headphones, but put only a small damper on the wonderful experience of using these headphones.

Despite the material they are made out of (plastic body and foam ear cushions), these headphones are remarkably comfortable, only making me dimly aware of their existence when in use.

The sound quality is quite clear and warm - once used for about a week. Other users have commented about bugs in this pair of headphones, but, beyond the aforementioned squeaking, I have found no such bugs, especially in relation to sound. The noise-cancelling ability of this item is near perfect - allowing enough noise to pass so that at a normal volume you can hear any loud noises around you, but preventing those around you from being disturbed or disturbing you.

I, however, am no longer using this pair of headphones because I have upgraded to the Sony V700DJ, which I reccomend if you have the money to spend. Overall, this is the best headphones that you can buy for under fifty dollars, and even better than some higher-priced headphones.

Summary: Muffled, muddied sound
Review: These headphones have a muffled, muddied sound. I bought them to use with my office boom box (Aiwa CSD-FDF81), thinking they would sound better than the speakers. They sound worse. My 17-year old son thinks they sound muffled, too. On the plus side, they are comfortable.

I brought them home and tested them against a 15+ year old pair of Audio Technica headphones. No contest. The ATs sound bright and clear by comparison, but are uncomfortable.

Keep shopping. Spend a little more if you must. Your ears will thank you. (I just ordered a pair of Grado SR-60 headphones on the recommendation of my audiophile brother.)

Summary: Not all gravy . . .
Review: These headphones were the recent subject of one of those "Consumers Reports" surprise findings. They came in 2nd-best in a field of products (including other Sony models) costing 5-6 times more than the CD-180's. So at this price, why not?

Indeed, they're lightweight and extremely comfortable on the ears. The quality of the sound is natural, warm, accurate, balanced. But there are also a few shortcomings, not mentioned in the CR ratings: First, the uncushioned headband is more noticeable than I might have suspected, leaving me with the sense of something hard and plastic sitting on top of my skull; 2nd, the wire is one of those dual-sided affairs, which can restrict a wearer's mobility more than headphones with only a single wire; 3rd, the wire is about half the thickness of slightly more expensive units, calling for the user to exercise greater than normal amounts of caution; 4th, "efficiency" is a tad lower than my first-line headphones--in other words, they require more amplifier power to achieve comparable volume levels.

In short, I'd judge these "fairly valued." At the price, they're good back ups, possibly decent replacements for the cheapie headphones manufacturers throw in with their CD players, etc. But even at twice the price, I'd consider the Panasonic HT710's a better value.
