Summary: Perfect closed headphones for the price
Review: These headphones are clean-sounding outside of the box, but as others have written, the mids clear up perfect. Unnaturally low-end sounds are lacking in many cases (and on some rock recordings, some drums never seem to come as clear as one would hope) and it's not always produced easily.
If you enjoy clean, balanced sound, these headphones are for you. However, you can find some very enjoyable cheaper open-style headphones that emphasize clean bass in modern pop/rap recordings. I reccomend the comfortable, 'stylish' Koss UR 40's for this purpose. Those come with Koss's lifetime warranty.
These headphones travel pretty well, even though they are very large. They're surprisingly durable and well-made - they do break though! Don't let your stupid friends touch them! You'll have to take advantage of the 2-year warranty!
These headphones don't provide too much isolation, but they provide the most I've heard at the price.
So, there's really nothing to complain about besides the bass, and that can be fixed with an equalizer. More than acceptable on portables, but great on home systems. I can't say that about any other phones at this price, and anything more expensive is excessive if you ask me.

Summary: Don't waste your money!
Review: I have bought it from amazon via a thirdparty international shipment company. Which increased its prise of ownership by 50%. Applied "Burn-in" on the headphone for a week at a high sound level. I've compared it with my sound system to understand any improvement in the sound quality. Result: NO IMPROVMENT IN THE BASS. Before buying this product, becareful to take a look at the 'Frequency Response Curve' which you may found in the specs.
Diffuse field frequency respones has a range of 5 to 10 dB along different frequencies!!!! Becareful, -3 dB change means it looses its power to half! This response shows up to a -5 dB change at some frequencies. Surely that means, you wont hear some frequencies as you expect to hear. 200Hz to 1KHz range have a low response to input power. To get a better sound quality with this headphones, you need to set your music systems equalizer symentic to this frequency response chart (you should set equalizer to high for low response frequencies) Overall thoughts, I have about this headphone are that:
1) reviews are exaggerating its sound quality.
2) poor bass (but present)
3) Perhaps it is still better than other brands of headphones, but if all are like that, someone should produce something better.
4) 32 dB attenuation is an exaggeration. I bet it wont reduce sound more than 10 dB at hearable frequency sounds.
5) Quality material used to build this headphone, but I still believe that, it could have been much better. I was planing to buy some other items on basis of reviews like I did buy this, but that taught me not to believe in reviews no more. Read specs.

Summary: Superb Hi Fi Equipment!
Review: I must say that this was the best purchase I've made for this year. I bought this as a little birthday present for myself, and absolutley love it for several reasons. First, it's very comfortable to wear and because of its circumaural (fits around your ear) design, it blocks out a lot of the outside noise (especially when music is playing) and other people can't listen to what you are listening to. It's a must for classical and acoustic listeners. For those of you who listen to pop or more vocal music where there's a lot of sound board engineering, I must say that it sounds great as well -- you'll notice instruments (or synthesized instrumetns for that matter) that you've never heard before if you've never payed great attention to -- however you won't hear much difference as opposed to your regular speakers/headphones because these songs are engineerred to sound good on typical speakers. I guess the only downside to the headphones is it doesn't look "cool" on your head because the headband stretches out to a more squarish appearance and looks somewhat awkward on your head.

Summary: Top notch headphones!
Review: I purchased these headphones hoping for the ultimate in sound - my only experience with headphones prior to these were pairs that were in an entirely different price category. As the other reviews say, I did burn these in before I listened to them extensively (although it was tempting to listen right away!) and that is CRUCIAL to their quality. The sound quality is amazing - like you're right there. You really don't need the noise cancelling feature with headphones like these. I have used them on long car trips while others are driving and I can't hear a thing. Maybe it's because I didn't burn them in with music that had a lot of bass, but the only reason I gave the set 4 stars is because the bass response in heavier songs seems to crackle when the phones are very loud. But otherwise, the sound is way clearer than I would have imagined. Buy these headphones, especially if you have never paid more than $20 for a set. These Sennheisers will change the way you listen.

Summary: great sound, but....
Review: these headphones are great. They have great sound quality, incredible bass for headphones, and they can BOOM if you want them to. they are also very comfortable to wear for olong periods of time. That said, they were designed as studio headphones, and so are beefy and a pain to carry around. So if you will use them for at home listening, i strongly recommend them, especially for the price they are at. But, if you need headphones for a portable music player, i suggest that you go with something a little lighter and smaller, like the Bose Triports or the Sony VJR-700's.

Summary: Not bad sound but not comfortable headphones
Review: I was looking for circumaural headphones to use with my MP3 player for travel and use at work. After looking around I narrowed my choices between the Bose Triport and Sennheiser headphones. I did not want to spend a lot of money on headphones and after reading all the great reviews on Sennheiser I decided to give them a try. Now the only problem was deciding which Sennheiser model to buy. Since I wanted a circumaural model I ended up choosing the HD280 PRO after reading the great reviews and how comfortable they were. I got them three days later and anxiously hooked it up to my MuVo MP3 player. At first I thought the sound was pretty good and would probably be even better after burning them in as other reviewers suggested, but to my biggest disappointment the headphones were not comfortable at all. They were a little tight around the ears (my head is not that big either, I wear a size medium on hats.) and the headband gave an annoying feeling on the top of my head. I was afraid to stretch them open given the fear of cracking the plastic construction headband. On the positive side, these headphones did block out some ambient noise since they are tight fitting and the ear pieces pivot and fold to transport when traveling. Not feeling satisfied with these headphones, I reluctantly purchased the $... Bose Triports since Bose guaranteed a 90-day customer satisfaction and the only way to be sure was to compare the headphones side-by-side with the Sennheiser HD280 at home. The first thing I noticed was how much more comfortable the Bose Triports were over the Sennheiser, they were light and very comfortable on the ears and the headband did not give that annoying feeling on the top of my head. The Triports had much better and thicker material construction on the ear cushions than the Sennheiser did. Also the Triport has a metal headband that you can widen to your fit. Now on the sound comparison: On the MuVo MP3 player, the Triports had a cleaner and tighter sound than the HD280, and it also had a higher volume probably due to the 32 ohms vs. 64 for the HD280. Then I compared them on my home system listening to Jazz and Rock on an Arcam Alpha 7SE thru a Denon receiver with all settings on flat. The HD280 had great bass, little midrange and a bit high on the treble. I'm sure the HD280 would sound a lot better later given the reviews of burning them in but my biggest complaint is that these headphones are NOT comfortable as others have reviewed. The Triports, surprisingly, sounded a lot better with more midrange and an overall balanced sound. Bottom line, I am returning the HD280 and keeping the Triports. Albeit I am spending more than I wanted to but after listening and wearing these comfortable headphones, I am very satisfied with my decision. If you're looking for comfortable headphones, I don't recommend the HD280. I can't say that for all Sennheiser models but the Bose Triports beat these hands down on sound and comfort.

Review: Even at the Amazon discount price, this product has proven to be a disappointment. The sound quality is mediocre. The headphones cannot duplicate the deep basses of even a moderately priced speaker system. The sound is comparable to AM radio. Also, I agree with the comments that this product is uncomfortable to wear. I personally recommend to buyers to keep shopping. I believe there is a reason why this product is deeply discounted.

Summary: awesome headphones
Review: I've had these headphones for about a year now and am still amazed by them when I listen to music using them. They drown out outside noise and play the music incredibly clear.
I just put some music on now and thought, wow this sounds great, so I had to come write a review even though I've never felt compelled to write one on anything before.
I did burn them in using music with lots of bass when I first got them. Yes, you should do this.
As others have noticed, they are not the best for carrying around, but they do fold up in 3 different configurations so that helps. The ears can be rotated so that the set is flat. The rotation of the ears also helps it be comfortable to wear. I find them to be very comfortable for up to 3 or 4 hours of use. I don't know why people have complained about that. I have a strange shape head and ears and find most other headphones to be very uncomfortable. In fact the only other type of headphones I can use are ear buds.
But after 4 or 5 hours (I use them at work), they can start feeling heavy. They are heavier than other sennheiser closed headphones. That is my only complaint.

Summary: The best in their class - you have to try them
Review: Most people when looking at the price on these things will just push them away because they say that their cheap $20 headphones sound just fine. Well, they aren't. You have to get into this headphone class and try these things out and after using these for a while, you may even want even better headphones, but the thing is, much better headphones cost a LOT more. These are excellent headphones and give great response and sound crystal clear. They are extremely comfortable and collapse. Yeah, they are big, but what studio headphones are not, that's a stupid reason not to buy these. They do cancel out noise and at a reasonable listening level others wont hear you either. These are a must-have for anyone who cares about music and wants to get the full experience of what artists made the music for. I've found that even if I didn't like something very much, these would make me like it just because of their crystal clear sound and how they illuminate and bring out the music to your ears. Get these.
