Summary: Great Phone with Great Features for the Regular Consumer
Review: I did alot of reading and shopping around before buying this phone for our home use. After buying it and using it for the last 6 months I can honestly say that its a great phone. The second phone does not have to be plugged into a phone jack--just a power source making placement of it very convenient. Even with the base unit in a downstairs room and the second phone upstairs there are no reception problems. I also love the intercom feature and the unique ringtones.There are multiple mailboxes that can be set up and are easy to access from either of the phones. I also like being able to transfer calls between headsets--this is great if you have family members who are often in different rooms. The phone works well, is static free, and is easy to use. I highly reccommend it.

Summary: Do Not Buy
Review: This phone died after just two months. Sent it back to Panasonic, and was told that I would be sent a refurbished/rebuilt unit, not a new one (wrong answer!). Other than the dying, and poor customer service, the phone is great - excellent features and great reception. Maybe I just got a lemon.

Summary: Everything you want
Review: I just upgraded to one of these systems and it is just about perfect for putting an "instant network" of phones in any home or even a small office running on a single phone line. Speakerphone feature works well (every handset AND the base station have speakers), broadcast range is excellent (100 ft through walls with no problem), the ONLY minor complaint is that sometimes the volume on the earpiece is too low. The phone even has a "signal booster" feature that helps if you're having problems on a call. The intercom feature is excellent. And the ability to listen to voice mail from any extension is great.

Summary: Not so fast Sportsfans
Review: Well, I read a lot of the reviews for this phone, and decided to check it out for myself, as my current 2.4 ghz model is driving folks I call nuts because of low volume and random buzzing. So . . . I knew there were some comments on receiver volume being a little low, but I'd give it a chance. Well, it's on its way back to Amazon. Major gripes: 1. Outgoing volume via my Plantronics headset (verified to work fine with other cordless phones) was noticeably low for the callee. This is big time unsat. I want the folks I call to focus on what I'm saying, not wondering why I don't have a decent phone - afterall, they know I'm a techie-buff!
2. Receiving volume in my headset was on the low side as indicated by other reviewers - not something I want to put up with on a day to day basis. Minor gripes:
3. Handsets are on the larger side - particularly troubling because even given their larger size, they don't perform well!
4. No message waiting indicator light - Hello, Panasonic, what are you thinking? ? ?
5. Ni-cad batteries? Again, what's going on at Panasonic? Give me at least NiMH or preferably Lithium.
6. Can not shut off handset ringer (I did not verify this, but I believe I read it in a reviewers report). Conclusion:
In the "final analysis" it boils down to poor sound volume, both sending and receiving. And this unit did not measure up, at least not with the fine Plantronics over the head headset I use.
Seems like these companies could throw a few more milliamps at the problem for mere pennies and this would fix this unsatisfactory performance. Just my opinion.
BTW, I went back to my "brick" Spread Spectrum Uniden cordless, which everyone says sounds fantastic (I believe it is 900 mhz). Why aren't we progressing ? ? ?

Summary: Great Phone but........Pricey
Review: This is the best phone that I have come across in a while. It has all the features that you expect from an expensive phone. I sure hope it will last forever. I had a Uniden for which I've always owned Unidens. I will have to see if this phone will live up to its reputation. I like all the features that its capable of. I especially like the ring tones, they ring like office phones ring, very upscale, I feel like I'm in my office. I know it's a bit pricey but give it a shot, their aren't many 5.8's out there. Oh and go the extra and buy the one w/ the extra handset included it is worth the money difference.

Summary: Great Phone...But Pricey
Review: The Panasonic 5.8 model shown above has great options and capability. It's usuer friendly and has the most features than any phone out there. The clarity is great and I love the ringer tones, they sound like the ones in the office. Although its pricey and has the extra handset, there are other options out there for 5.8 phones.

Summary: Generally Good Phone with Some Issues
Review: I chose Panasonic because it was the only 5.8GHz cordless phone that wouldn't interfere with my 802.11 wireless network connection. As other reviewers have stated, phones by AT&T, Vtech, etc. are not true 5.8GHz phones (they receive in 5.8 but transmit in 2.4) as specified in their owner's manuals. Overall I like the phone because of its abundant features, however there are several issues that should be addressed: - The horizontal layout of the phone/answering machine base is not very user-friendly for mounting on a wall (i.e. in the kitchen). The base juts out far enough waiting for someone to walk into it. It also needs to be mounted low enough for children to view the LCD screen and access the buttons. - I have a large head, but when I align the handset speaker to my ear, the microphone is far enough from my mouth that callers have difficulty hearing me. I have to put my ear on top of the LCD screen to get correct mic placement, but then I have difficulty hearing calls. Perhaps it would help if Panasonic slightly angled the handset like a clam-shell mobile phone. - Handset volume could be louder. This phone's highest volume setting is equivalent to medium (or even low) on other phones. Other reviewers have not had problems with this -- maybe parts quality isn't consistant during Panasonic's manufacturing process. - Slight hiss/static can be heard, even across the room with the signal booster turned on. Although signal boosting also drains the battery significantly faster, it would be a nice feature if it could be left on indefinitely rather than manually each time. - Although one can play answering machine messages remotely through the handset, live messages can only be heard at the phone base. Remote call screening would be another great feature next time around.

Summary: Worked great for two weeks then died
Review: I got the two handset model KX-TG5110m. It worked great for two weeks. Then came the fatal "System Error #9" all the lights on the base flash like a Christmas tree. I called Panasonic customer service the hold time was 12 minutes. The guy told me the phone was done for. He said it could have been a power serge, I do have the phone plugged into a good serge protector. Oh well, I can't seem to find a phone with better features, so I will exchange it for new one and give it another try.

Summary: Best Phone Out There
Review: I was looking for phone that had excellent speakerphone capabilities, what I got was the bonus package. This phone has, expandability, I've already ordered a second handset, and will replace all of our phones in the house with them in the near future. The intercom feature my wife and I have used it continuously over the last few days. As far as speakerphones, it works great,(ease of use, muting, and privacy) and the handset itself also has speakerphone capabilities. We called all of our relatives to wish them happy new year, me using the speaker phone at the base, and my wife elsewhere in the house using the speaker phone on the handset, if you are looking for a phone, this is what you should buy!!! Excellent phonebook, caller id, conference call, answering machine, etc.. capabilities. I'd give 10 stars if possible.
