Rating: Summary: Poor sound quality Review: The phone is hard for both parties to understand and the volume is low. I have to use the speaker phone setting for most conversations. People on the other end of the line always ask me whats up with my phone. I have had 2 different multi extension phones and neither has had the same sound quality as my old vTech $20 single line cordless.
Rating: Summary: Good phone Review: The volume of the receiver is a little low. This phone does not intefere with 802.1g wireless network in my house. Good design
Rating: Summary: VTech 5831 Sound Fades Review: There is a problem with the sound. I have two handsets. The one I use the most fades out periodically. I can't say if the other has the same problem, as it's not used as often. Mainly for this reason I don't recommend this phone. We'll see how the warranty works.
Rating: Summary: Works beautifully Review: This handset works great for us. No static I've noticed, and we are running a wireless, 802.11b network in our house. We love the intercom feature. The only thing we wish it had in addition is some sort of answering machine built into it. I recommend this phone.
Rating: Summary: A decent phone that doesn't interfere Review: This is a decent handset. I use the speaker and headset functions a lot. I've had it for nearly two years now and have ery little trouble.
On the downside, button pushing through all of the options can be a bit tedious, and the intercom function, though useful, can be a pain to get to. Five to six button pushes to call another handset.
Another aspect to be aware of is that the VTech site itself seems to have the lowest prices... $44.95 for the handset as of 12/20/04 plus $1.95 foe shipping. Amazon really needs to keep pace.
Rating: Summary: Great Phone - super features - clear sound Review: This is a leading edge phone - I especially like the satellite unit's not needing a phone jack. The speaker phone feature works well - and clear as a bell. Much higher quality than comparable Uniden product - looked poorly put together, chintzy. Recommend highly - no interference - great for home based businesses!!!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Good phone Review: We bought the base and 3 extra handsets. The phones work great inside around the yard and even in the adjacent houses around us. They do not however have the range we expected. The reception is clear, the intercom and call transfer are great as is the vmail indicator. We have never had battery issues or interference with our wireless network or other appliances as some people have complained. For the price they are an EXCELLENT buy.
Rating: Summary: Works great & clear, but limited range Review: We have the base + two hand sets. The good: I love it. It also works great with the phone-company voicemail system, because it has a BRIGHT indicator which blinks in the handset and on the base unit when there are new messages. Intercom is a cool feature, I will buy additional sets for around the house because we are no longer limited to jack locations: Garage, spare bdrm, etc. Speaker setting sounds clear to us and our callers. It has a headset jack. Redial & caller id return call menu give option to dial 7, 10, or 11 digit number. The Bad: The range is shorter than my old ATT 2.4Mhz system, > 200 ft. The speed-dial list has to be programmed on EACH handset separately.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Phone Review: You'll love this phone. No Complains, Well Worth it. The Best Phone I've Owned. The whole vtech 5.8 phone system is Fantastic.
