Summary: Was Not Impressed!
Review: Bought this phone and kept it only a week ... didn't have any distance from the station and just didn't work well at all.
Went and returned it for the Uniden DXI 7286-2 and now I am a lot happier ... this phone has great range and is clear.
Friends had told me Uniden was a good phone and I'm glad I tried another one cause I am happy with 2.4 GHz phones we have now.

Just out of curiousity, I bought this one at a local store and compared it to my trusty 900MHz Uniden (about half the price).
Guess what?
The two phones sounded PRETTY MUCH THE SAME, in fact the 900MHz one was actually a little clearer in some parts of the house.
I will say though, the 5.8GHz phone does sound better than the disastrous 2.4GHz Uniden I bought and returned last year. But this one's going back too...why pay more for what is basically the same performance?
Again: DON'T BELIEVE THE ADVERTISING B.S. !!!!
I'm giving this phone 1 star not for its actual performance, but for the absolutely shameless advertising HYPE around it.
(This is kind of like a 3.0GHz PC compared to a 1.2GHz PC: with 90% of commonly used applications, their performance is virtually identical...only you'll pay a lot more for the bigger number GHz.)

Summary: finding a good cordless is like winning the lottery
Review: For a product that everyone owns, why does it seem so difficult to find a good cordless phone? Well, after trying many phones, I have to say I'm quite happy with this one.
There are three basic ways to measure a cordless phone IMHO: (1) interference from other devices, (2) sound quality, and (3) battery life. This Uniden unit nails all three.
1. Interference: We've got lots of wireless devices of every ilk, and nothing interferes with the Uniden, not even other 5.8GHz units.
2. Sound quality: outstanding. I actually use it with a VoIP line, and my previous VTech phone made me think that the VoIP was a bit noisy. Nope, it was the phone -- it's gone with the Uniden.
3. Battery life: actually shocking. I don't use the phone that much, but it has been off the base for 14 days and counting, and it's crystal clear, even though the base is 2 rooms away. I've never experienced a cordless phone with anywhere near this battery -- maybe the 5.8GHz is that much more power-friendly??
The unit looks nice, and the software is basic but user friendly (no manual needed). Overall: buy without hesitation.

Summary: So far, it's a great value
Review: I bought this phone a few weeks ago at Target and I am quite pleased with it. It has nearly all the features I was looking for (exception is a backlit keypad, but I really don't tend to make calls in the dark- the display is illuminated, though) and none of the extras that would cost more and go unused (I already have voicemail, so I did not need a built-in answering system). The price is very reasonable, especially for a 5.8 MHz phone, and the phone itself is simple to use. The sound quality has been very good and I haven't had any problems with range. Based on all the negative reviews I'd read about so many of the cordless phones out there, I thought I'd never find a good phone that was well-priced, but I think I've actually succeeded.

Summary: Looks good, but Not acceptable at All!!
Review: I bought this phone as a gift for my mother and was very dissappointed. Worst phone that she has ever used. The reception/range was horrible and there was intolerable static whenever it was used near TV sets. My mom called Uniden and tried the suggestions they had to no avail. I had confidence in Uniden and figured that the major price reduction was no need for concern, but I was terribly mistaken. I see other customers have had the same problem so it leads me to believe that these problems are inherent with this model and that the price is reduced in order to liquidate inventory. Think twice about buying this phone, pay a little more, and opt for a different model.

Review: I did not get good reception throughout the house. I used to have a Uniden tru346 2.4 and it got much better reception. I'm returning this phone because I can't walk into the other room without a lot of phone static.

Summary: Great sound, but too much static away from the base
Review: I got this phone and was initially thrilled with the sound quality and how well it works with my headset. However... When I clip the phone on and try to move from my office upstairs to roam around downstairs, the reception gets really bad. There is so much static I can't hear well enough. I plan to return this unit and try another one. I hope it's just a bad unit and that the next one will perform better.

Summary: Great 5.8Ghz buy!
Review: I have an 80211b wireless network in my home so I was getting interferece with my 2.4Ghz cordless phone. This is a great 5.4Ghz phone that is packed with features for a reasonable price - many of the other 5.4Ghz phones are quite expensive. The phone has integrated callerID display, redial, and the standard cordless phone features (incl a headphone jack). I wish it had a mute function so I could use it for work-related conference calls, otherwise it would be 5 stars.

Review: I purchased this phone a couple of weeks ago. Amazon has the best price. Cheaper than e-bay. Free shipping too. The phone is very basic and great value and good quality. Exactly what i am looking for. cheap, simple and good. if you need answering machine go with the other model, same but has AM.

Summary: Nice phone and good value for the price
Review: I recently purchased this phone after returning several brands of 2.4ghz phones. All of the 2.4 ghz phones had an echo and tinny sound quality. We do not have a wireless network, but something else may have caused interference for these phones.This phone has very good sound quality. I was somewhat concerned about how good the quality would be due to the low price of this phone. So far we have been happy with our purchase. This is the first Uniden phone we have bought. All of our previous cordless phones have been Panasonics. We had good luck with Panasonic but the handset buttons always seem to eventually wear out on their phones. I like the placement of buttons on this models handset and they are large enough for easy dialing. The handset volume seems very satisfactory and we have it set on medium volume. Uniden's user manual is one of the best I have used. It has a great format for helpful tips and is easy to read. The range of the phone has been good in our single level home. We are on a very large lot so we do get some static if we use the phone on the outskirts of our property. I have read some comments that 5.8 ghz phones actually have less range than the old 900 mhz so this does not concern me too much. We do not use the caller id function so I cannot comment on that. If you are looking for a model with no answering machine at a good value I think you will be happy with this phone.
