Rating: Summary: A Fashionable Phone at a Great Price! Review: Recently purchased this phone along with an additional matching handset. It may seem a little intimidating at first with all of it's options, but the instruction manual is easy to follow (there is also a "cheat sheet" provided) and the phone is easy to set up. It takes up so little space and everything is controlled on the handset. It really looks great (everyone who sees it compliments it!) and all functions appear to work well so far (clarity is excellent)....I've done research on all the phone brands (Uniden, Panasonic, VTech, etc etc) and after reviewing all the models out there, I would highly recommend this Siemens phone and the additional handset to compliment it!
Rating: Summary: Pretty Nice Review: Very sleek little phone. The handset is very light-weight, almost too light. The AA NiCads used by the handset allow you to use regular AAs in an emergency. It also has a cell phone style headset jack for hands-free. It has no ring tones that don't sound ultra-modern, so if you are looking for a traditional ring, this isn't the phone. I have two gipes: The advertised call screening from the handset is not available (confirmed with Siemens tech support); and there is no mute function available. All 4000-series handsets are the same. So in hindsight, I probably should have purchased the 4215 to get the extra features and add another handset later.
Rating: Summary: Wireless netwoking problems Review: Last year I purchased the Siemens 2420 model and started encountering static problems so bad I could not use the supplementary handset. The base unit still worked fine on the 2040 unit. I wanted to upgrade so last week I purchased the 4015 model. I encountered the same problem after a few days of use. I think it is the wireless network in my house but when I shut down the network the problem still exists. I personally liked the new 4015 model better than the 2420 model. The feel of the handset is better and the features are easier to configure. Since the problem still exists, I returned the phone today and i'm still looking for a solution. I may have to go back to a 900mhz unit.
Rating: Summary: Great phone Review: I just got this and it is a very nice phone, light weight, and comfortable to handle. Per another person's comment, the base does have a page feature, it is a small button under the unit.
Rating: Summary: Nice phone Review: This is a nice phone i like the led on top the blinks when it rings... lets u easily locate it at night or early morning... good menu system. Only major problem is no paging from the base... I loose the handset all the time !! go find it.... Reception is good upto 150feet.
Rating: Summary: Too many problems, not enough support Review: I bought this phone because a colleague of mine had one, and I liked the idea of being able to listen to my messages on the answering machine privately without them being blared to one and all. So even though it was a fairly expensive telephone, I talked my husband into getting it for me one Christmas. After only a few months, though, the base failed to communicate with the handset. I was able to fix it myself following the trouble-shooting procedure in the user's manual, but after another couple of months the same problem occurred. This time I couldn't fix it myself, so I called Siemens customer support. They had me try some things, still to no avail. They then sent me a new phone. That one worked for another couple of months, and then the base stopped communicating with the handset...again. So I again called Customer Support, and this time they were not so helpful. I was on hold for a very long time, and then when I got through, the guy told me I had to follow a procedure, wait 15 minutes, and call him back. When I finally got through to them after the 15 minutes, it emerged that he had gone home and obviously had just told me to go through this rigmarole so he wouldn't have to help me any more. I would have preferred just being told that right up front instead of being on hold for upwards of half an hour! They never did figure out why I was having problems, and because I was now past the original warranty period they informed me I would have to buy another phone. So I gave up in disgust and bought an AT&T model for half the money that is much easier to use and works perfectly. And guess what? I found out after using the Siemens model that I don't even LIKE the feature of listening to messages through the handset! It turns out to be more convenient to have both hands free for writing, putting away groceries, etc. while listening to messages than having to hang onto a handset. Oh well. Live and learn.
Rating: Summary: Piece of junk Review: Had this phone for about 2 years now and it has been nothing but trouble. I had to reboot it at least 4 times and then, finally, it just died. Avoid.
Rating: Summary: Solid performer Review: We have used this phone as our main phone for several years now, and we really like it. The sound quality is clear, and it works great throughout the house (and even partway into the garage). We purchased units from other brands to use in the two bedrooms without phone jacks, and they have TERRIBLE quality - we've already given away the first brand we bought and are getting ready to replace the VTech handsets. But this Siemens phone has continued to work great with no interference, even right next to my computer.
The phone can be a little difficult to program. We always have problems resetting the clock during time changes, and figuring out how to change the outgoing message.
We have had the phone for over 3 years now (I can't remember exactly how long it has been), and the battery is just now starting to give out. We are considering just buying a new battery, and replacing the other handsets with Siemens models because we have been so happy with this one. The only reason we are thinking of replacing this phone is because of the lack of features. I work from home, and my dogs love to time their barking, baying, and playtime to when they know I'm on a conference call, so I really need a phone with the mute feature.
I give this phone 5 stars for performance, and 3 stars for features and ease of use.
Rating: Summary: DON'T BUY THIS PHONE! Review: I had purchased this phone 1 1/2 year ago and then all of the sudden one day, they didn't work. We could get no dial tone. I called the customer service number which instructed me to do a few things ( take batteries out, unplug the main unit, etc) and nothing worked. She then concluded that the base was broken and because it was greater than one year I'd have to purchase another one for $120! I spent over $300 because We had 4 phones total and it stops working after a year!
I recently bought the V-tech phone and love it so far! The quality is much better and has nicer features. I like how the name of the person calling and the number appear at the same time unlike the Siemens phone.
Siemens customer serivce was not helpful and their products are not worth the money you spend for them.
