Rating: Summary: Cool Phone Review: (...)Phone seems really cool, inbuilt ans machine, caller ID and Call waiting system make it perfect as a phone. good deal.
Rating: Summary: 1 month after purchase, still love this phone Review: As some of the other reviews pointed out, the style on the phone is great. Looks great, easy to hold, etc. I have had NO problems with it so far. Reception is crystal clear. I live in an apartment, so I'm usually not far away from the base, but I have walked to the mail box while talking on it (about 80 yards away) and it was still very clear. Other reviews have complained about the volume, but I have found it to be more than adequate. The answering system has worked really well. I have had two other digital answering machines that I hated - the messages were garbled, and the machine would often hang up on people. Everything has been very clear on this machine. Several other "neat" features that could be useful in some situations (review messages through handset, listen through handset as message is being left without answering, etc). So, now the things I don't like, the reason for only 4 stars: 1) Setting the time and date is slow and annoying. I hate the voice on the machine. But, you will very rarely have to do this, so no biggie. (Or you could just wait until 12AM on a Sunday to plug it in . . . :) ) 2) No toll saver setting on answering machine (toll saver - only rings twice before picking up if there are new messages). Very annoying if you call to check you messages often. I often do it as a "local toll" call, which adds up if I check several times a day. 3) The BIGGIE - No battery backup! Absolutely ridiculous for a digital answering machine! Even cheap ones have this feature. I live in an area where power loss is a rare occurence, but if you live in an area where storms and brief power outages are common, this may be a deal breaker. Overall, I REALLY like this phone, no problems for me, but GE could have added a few simple features to make it much more reliable and convenient. Other than the listed problems, I think the design and functionality are great.
Rating: Summary: Features a plenty, including plenty of static Review: Bought the non Caller ID version of this phone as a replacement for my older GE cordless phone a couple of days ago. Needed the mute and headset capability during business calls. Although I found the digital answering machine to be quite good, allowing you to manage messages with ease, the STATIC was so prevalent that talking for any longer then a minute or two is unbearable. Even switching channels does nothing to improve the static. Disappointing as I wanted to like this GE phone. Will be returning it today.
Rating: Summary: Do not buy! Review: Do not believe 2.4 GHZ! I can't even call this "cordless". It doesn't work when I bring this out to my yard. It drops the call when trying to pick up the call. My 10 year old cordless phone works better than this [junk].
Rating: Summary: Reception stinks --very disappointed Review: Don't let the looks fool you. Yes, it's a little cutie, but it's all on the surface. My 5 year old 900mhz phone has better clarity and reception. I exchanged it because the reception was so bad. Snap-Crackle-Pop! Also had an echo problem along with the snapping, crackling, and popping. I would not recommend this phone.
Rating: Summary: Nice Phone Review: Great phone...so far. I've only had it for about two weeks. I always read the other reviews before buying anything. I'm glad there were good reviews on this one because it's affordable and also comes with an anwering machine. I was looking for quality along with a "not breaking the pocket book" price. I'm a happy camper with this phone.
Rating: Summary: say that again Review: I bought this phone as a backup to my 900mhz Panasonic and it is terrible. I find myself constantly asking people to speak up because I can't hear them behind the static. My own voice comes through too loud, and makes for a frustrating experience. My older cordless works much better under the same circumstances. I'll be selling mine online, and I'll start looking for a replacement immediatly.
Rating: Summary: I almost love it but starting to hate it Review: I first of all want to say as far as design, clarity of calls, the extra distance I can talk away from the base is all great...but thats where the buck stops. The digital answering machine is horrible...when you try to call home to leave a message the announcement will not play all the way which means you never get the "beep" to signal for you to leave a message...it simply cuts right off after two words of the announcement and hangs up on you!!! I clearly understand that it will do this after the announcement if you don't talk continuously but I don't even get a chance to let that happen. So anyways I thought well I bought a dud and I will exchange it for another one. I got the same phone again and well I be darned but the thing still does what the other one did. I really want to keep it but I need to be able to recieve messages on it. Otherwise I will just replace it with a different brand and get over it. I have already called the manufacturer and they said they have had no reports of any problems with that model. Help?
Rating: Summary: Affordable and functional phone with features Review: I have been using the GE Model 27993GE3, 2.4GHz cordless phone for three months and I have been pleased with its performance. I have used the phone as a replacement for an older 900 MHz cordless phone model. This model has far exceeded the performance of my previous phone in the areas of reception distance, clarity, battery life and built-in features. Product Features: *Digital 2.4GHz technology provides great range and clarity *Call-waiting caller ID with backlit LCD on handset *Fully digital answering system with 12-min capacity *40-channel auto scanning for superb clarity *40-name-and-number caller ID memory *10-number speed-dial memory *Touch-Tone remote message access with voice menu *Call screening capability *1-touch redial *Handset volume control with mute button *Voice mail message-waiting indicator Pros: As you can see from the above list, there a number of built-in features on this phone. The clarity of the answering machine is above average and it is incredibly simple to use. The buttons for the answering machine are easy to locate and to use in setting its functions. Also, I have been able to routinely use the phone handset outside the house with little or no interference on the line. This is a tremendous improvement over the 900 MHz models. Perhaps my favorite feature is that the backlit LCD and buttons on the handset light up whenever the phone rings or when a button is pressed. This is provides for easier operation in dark areas. Cons: The sound quality for the handset is good, but it is not excellent. I have heard better reception from more expensive phones. The ringer volume is not adjustable and this could be a detractor depending on your preferences. While it is not adjustable, I personally find the ring volume to be in an acceptable range for me. Finally, if your looking for an expandable base to add handsets to, then you are out of luck. This model is not expandable. Overall: This phone is a good value for its price range. It is simple to use, easy to install, its operation manual is clear, its range is more than sufficient, its sound quality is good, it is relatively compact in size and it is full of features. Rating: Summary: Great phone ...with a few quirks. Review: I have had this phone for 1 year now. It works exremely well most of the time. The clarity is good particularly with the answering machine. Clearest and most natural I've ever had. I have found the range outstanding!! I have walked several hundred yards away from the base with a slight diminishing of volume before it shuts off. The quirks... I feel that the change channel button is strictly for looks. When I do get interference (about once a month... and it is very bad when this happens.. I get the lady from upstairs' phone cutting in and I hear very clearly her conversation. We do not have the same brand of phone...) The only thing that works is putting the phone back on the base to re-set it's self. Also at times the handset volume seems to diminish somewhat. AND the answering machine volume seems to reset it self to low magically at times and I have to change it to higher. All that said... Great phone great price.. don't want these annoyances? spend another 50 bucks. But who is to say that the extra price will wield a less quirky phone? Bottom line. It works EXTREMELY well... usually.
