Rating: Summary: Very Good Phone loaded with features Review: After much research and several returns, we decided to buy the KX-TG1000N. We had not tried it before secondary to the bad reviews, and I decided not to write one after more than 4-6 weeks of use. Overall I am extremely pleased with this phone and its performance. Pros: * It is DSS, which adds to greater range and increased security * The base digital speakerphone is extremely good. Even though you can still tell a speakerphone is being use, it is of great quality. No missing word or phrases when using it*The Base DOES have an additional battery charger. *As with most phones with caller ID, you can dial before pressing the Talk button *You can communicate with the base or the other handheld units in the house. No need to yell calling people to dinner. You can also transfer the call to the desire unit (base or any of the handhelp units) *Alphanumeric memory (store names and numbers from the keypad or from caller ID data) *Headset compatible. This is great if you are cooking or doing activities involving you hands (Do get a handset) *Very good range and clear signal. In my experience with this unit I have found no problems with clarity or range of signal. It has been quite impressive despite the fact that I placed the base next to my desktop computer. Cons: *2.4 Ghz. Yes, if you have wireless networking there may be interference (I don't). Plus you tend to pay extra. The 900 Mhz DSS offers pretty much the same range and security. If they had this model in 900 DSS that would have been my choice. *Wall mounable: yes, but awful! The unit doesn't rest against the wall. The adapter to the base, so it can be on the wall, is in the back, not the bottom of the unit, so it looks like a shelf *The speakerphone in the handset is not as terrefic as the one in the base, but it works better than other speakerphones in uniden bases tha I have owned. It is great to use it when on hold *Somewhat pricey. The [money] rebate is quite nice though *It doesn't have a dedicated mute key. You have to look at the screen to to activate the right multipurpose key Bottomline: it is a phone system that is expandable, it has worked extremely well for the first 6 weeks. I give it 4.5 stars and I do recommend it.
Rating: Summary: Poorly designed phone Review: As others have stated, the sound quality is poor. In addition, the sound level is low; the volume can't be turned up enough to overcome any amount of background noise. The worst part: the mute, hold, and off buttons are located so they are easy to bump with your cheekbone. My wife can't use this phone for 30 minutes without hanging up on someone. Guess I'll be shopping for new phones again.
Rating: Summary: Good phone, bad ergonomics Review: Everything works really well on this phone - great sound, handsfree feature is fantastic, good range, second unit works well, easy to program. Loses two stars because the off and mute buttons are poorly positioned. If you tuck the phone under your chin you hang up the call. Happens often. Really annoying and easily avoidable design flaw. All things being equal buy a different phone.
Rating: Summary: Hmmmm.... Review: i bought this phone and was disappointed. if you tuck the phone under your chin to talk it hangs up....i eventually exchanged this for the 1050 series because it comes with an extra battery storage/charge drawer which is great when the power goes out!
Rating: Summary: For the most part... Review: I do like this phone. I have the unusual circumstance nowdays to have an older house with plaster/wire mesh walls throughout the house. I get great reception outside up to almost a block away, but there is one particular deadspot inside that is killing me. It is only about 25 feet from the base, and I get no reception. I have another panasonic that is a bit older with features that are better, such as programming your area code so that local calls will come through locally w/caller id, so you dont have to scroll through a menu to call back a local number. Another problem w/ both phones is that after a while you have to fiddle w/ the phone and base unit contacts to get it to charge correctly. If I had a wooden house, Im sure this would get a five-star rating, but you know how it is. I also think think this phone is identical to some uniden brand, you will get the same results out of other brands as well

Rating: Summary: Dissapointing Review: I have base station and one additional handset. The battery life is great, but the other features of the phone are poor. The handsets don't share saved phone numbers. Changing the volume of the base station ringer requires resorting to the manual. The sound quality is poor. Pushing the wrong buttons happens frequently, you will accidentally hang up on callers. Incoming calls aren't silent even with ringer turned off. The base unit can wake me from bed side table with ringer turned off. Hand set speaker phone is loud and works alright.
Rating: Summary: I am confused why people do not like this phone Review: I have been looking for 2.4 GHz cordless phone with the features I need for my home office. I have tried Uniden, Sony, Vtec, a private label Verizon, and now this. The others were all immediately returned as they did not have clear reception on the handset. Part of the problem is that I have a wireless LAN in my home and that definitely interfered with all of them. Even the microwave oven interfered with the Uniden and the Verizon. But this phone is crystal clear and all the features work well and as documented. I would highly recommend this phone. The only caveat is that I only have one handset. I would have no idea how the additional three would work - and it is unlikely that I will ever find out.
Rating: Summary: I thought my prayers were answered Review: I have spent a lot of time reviewing all models/styles/brands of phones, looking for "just the right one" for my kitchen. Because I love to cook, I was looking for a cordless speakerphone telephone that would be wall-mountable so that I would not have to stop what I was doing every time the phone would ring. I was so elated to find that this Panasonic model not only had a speakerphone in the base unit, but also in the hand held unit. To my surprise, and disbelief, I found that this unit had to mounted to the wall with the BACK of the base unit (not the BOTTOM) attached to the wall. It stuck straight out of the wall (like a shelf) - just like it would be setting on a table!! Then, I discovered that even with the handset volume set at the loudest setting, I could barely hear what anyone was saying. And to top it off, my voice sounded very muffled to anyone I was talking with. I tried the handset speakerphone once. The handset was on the table right in front of me. I could not hear one thing the person on the other end was saying and vice versa. I was so disappointed that I had to send it back after 3 days of owning it.
Rating: Summary: Good overall phone system, except speakphone Review: I've had a Toshiba 900 Hz for several years, that included an excellent speakerphone on the base unit. Recently, the buttons became worn-out, so I seached for a replacement. The KXTG1000N was a the top of my short list, for all of it's rich features. One very useable feature is the speakerphone on the handset. However, the quality of this is questionable. On conference calls, when someone begins to speak, I can clearly hear the first few words, then the rest of their sentence fades out. Very annoying, especially when your manager is giving you directions.. I even have the phone on mute, with volume at 50%, and still the same problem. I'm considering wiping the dust off my old Toshiba, at least for speakphone calls.
