Rating: Summary: Buy This Phone Only If You Have No Other Choice Review: Users of 2.4 Ghz phones expect: 1. Clear clarity of voice. 2. Exceptional range. 3. Ease of use. This phone falls flat on 2 of these 3 expectations. While the phone is fairly easy to set up and use, this is the least important of the 3 qualities. We have had to return this system twice, as the performance aspects are dismal. Voice quality while on the phone varies for no apparent reason, and the range of this phone is only about 30-40 feet at best. My Panasonic 2.4Ghz phone on the other hand, can still transmit when I'm over 200+ feet away! This phone also has lots of mystery bugs, including failing to hang up after a caller leaves a message, and phones displaying "in use" when no one is on the phone. Occassionally the handsets will "loose" the base, and say "searching for base" and then re-registering. Avoid this phone like the plague! V-Tech used to have great quality phones, but if this is an indicator of current quality, forget it. Look instead to the Panasonic 2730, which is also expandable, but has greater range.
Rating: Summary: I really like this system Review: I have tried several multi-handset cordless systems, and this one met MY needs the best. It provides: 1. Excellent sound quality 2. Great battery life with it's NiMh batteries 3. Many useful features such as:hands free speakerphone in each handset, any key answer, handset to handset paging and lighted keypad. None of these systems are perfect, but I found the Vtech to offer the best combination of good sound quality, ease of use and cost.
Rating: Summary: Very Disappointed Review: I should have listened to all the negative reviews I read before purchasing this item. However, it was the top rated exapandable cordless by Good Housekeeping magazine so I fell for it. I purcased the base and one handset. The base phone was defective and would not hold a charge. The additional handset charged very quickly and we used it for a day and heard the annoying "white noise" so many reviewers mentioned. It would not go away no matter where we were in the house. I returned it and exchanged it for the Panasonic comparable model(#KX-TG1050N). It was more expensive, but we are very happy with it and do not experience the interference. I should have remembered a prior VTECH cordless phone we owned did not perform well and we replaced that one with a Panasonic. Save yourself the hassle and just go for the Panasonic.
Rating: Summary: Excellent system so far! Review: After reading the reviews of others, I was hesitant to purchase this phone & expected to be disappointed. This product is great! Instructions are easy to follow (20 minutes to set up main features), the design is zoomy and easy to use, the answering machine sounds & works great. We live near a major airport and I was concerned about clarity - No problem so far! the line is clear and crisp - no white noise here! We are not using multiple handsets, so can't comment on that. I highly recommend you give this system a try - so far, we really like it!
Rating: Summary: Finally - Good Reception Review: After only one day of testing, both handsets work well. We can speak and hear from anywhere in our house or yard with absolutely great clarity, a first for us with cordless phones. We really love it. So far, only two dissappointments: 1) the manual isn't as clear as it could be, and 2) you can't check messages from a handset. I thought the 'remote' feature would include being able to get messages from one of the handsets, but it turns out you have to go to the machine or leave your house and call from elsehwere. Otherwise, it's a great little phone, with fabulous clarity.
Rating: Summary: Nice feature set, but poor sound quality - don't spend the $ Review: I love the feature set for this phone. It solved one problem for me, but caused another. I have a big, old house with one phone jack. I bought a base unit and two additional handsets for a lot of money which I thought expensive, but ok if it really performed. The setup was trivial - plug and play but the sound quality was poor. EVERYONE who called thought they had dialed our cell phone by mistake. The audio is digitized, and it sounds that way. Sadly, I am returning the whole thing. For this amount of money the audio quality should be perfect.
Rating: Summary: Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Review: Do not purchase this phone system unless you enjoy the sound of "white noise" during telephone conversations. There is a constant hissing noise from the ear piece whenever the phone is being used . . . Please take heed to similiar reviews on this phone and save yourself the hassle and expense of having to return it !
Rating: Summary: Disappointed! Review: After purchasing this phone, both for it's good looks and answering machine, I was very very disappointed that it was of such poor quality considering it's high price. 1. As you've read here, the sound quality is worse than a cell phone. 2. The answering machine would not record many of my incoming calls, probably due to the poor sound. After taking it back to the store, the salesperson told me Vtech phones are known for being poor quality. Too bad they can't fix these problems - the phone itself looks great!
Rating: Summary: Pretty good Review: This phone fit my house very well, but it had some connection problems. The expansion was a good idea, because now there is more then one cordless around so i can find a phone easier!
Rating: Summary: Unusable Review: We really wanted this phone due to its satellite phones. We tried everything to get it to work properly. We moved it to all locations in the house. The amount of noise on the phone made it totally unusable. The messages that were left on the answering machine could not be understood. On occassion the phone would work fairly good, but mostly there was too much static to be used at all...
