Summary: simply put, this phone is a piece of junk
Review: I have been a loyal customer for Panasonic phones for over 10 years. I bought this phone about a year ago, and have only one piece of advice: avoid purchasing this phone. I was suckered into buying this as a replacement for a perfectly good 900 mhz phone because of the idea that 2.4 would be more secure and offer greater range. This really hasn't proven to be true with this phone.

I often can't hear callers because of static in the headset speaker, which has forced me to use the speakerphone more than I'd like to because the headset is virtually unuable. I might be willing to believe that my phone is a lemon, but too many other reviewers have voiced similar complaints to be ignored.

Also, as the editorial review states, the design of this phone doesn't make much sense. Programming the phone is confusing. It is missing simple features. NO MUTE BUTTON. NO SIMPLE WAY TO REDIAL. NO simple way to access stored numbers, or to store them. Overall, this phone is an embarrassing piece of junk. The engineers who designed this phone should be ashamed. Panasonic has let its customers down with this phone. :(

Summary: Dead at one year
Review: This phone worked great for almost a year. Then as I talked, I would hear a crackling noise. Finally, the crackling noise became unbearable. Now when I search on the caller id, I get the message 'out of range'. I thought it was the battery going bad (it has a re-chargeable battery); however, when I replaced the battery, it did not improve. Don't buy this phone. The service is poor too. I left a voice mail and they never returned my call. I bet I have cost Panasonic at least 6 phone sales by word of mouth. I proud of it too. It would be morally reprehensible to let people enter into a buying decision on this phone without letting them know it is a terrible contraption.

Summary: I too have experienced the pain...
Review: If you see a pattern in the reviews of this machine, believe it.

I own this unit and the reviews of it here are accurate. After a year of ownership, my "out of range" problem occurs in about 1 of every 10 uses. In addition, the phone does generate more static over time, rendering a normal conversation quite difficult. Further, a large majority of people I talk with claim that my phone makes my voice sound very quiet. Finally, the phone is awkward to hold during a long conversation.

There are good points. The answering machine is nice and relatively easy to use. That's pretty much it.

Conclusion: I got suckered by the good looks of this machine. Believe me and everybody else here when we tell you that no matter how good it looks, the unit is not reliable.

Summary: worthless phone - don't buy it.
Review: After having my initial phone about 6 months, it died. Sent in to panasonic, took them TWO months to fix and send back! (it totally quit working, power supply was still good though) Then after 1 year and 1 month after original purchase, died again (this time it had an error msg indicated on the LED readout on the base, and nothing worked).
They said even though they had the phone two months for fixing the first time it died, it didn't extend the warranty at all! But they did go ahead and fix it at no charge. Since then, I have had the out of range problem, even when only 5 feet from the base unit. It just gets worse over time. And this is the the 3rd one I'm on.
The sound quality has progressively gotten worse, along with
the out of range problem. Caller ID doesn't always show up
either.
I've also had an ongoing problem where sometimes after removing it from the base unit, it doesn't recognize it. So I have to
re-insert it a few times before it recognizes.

There is one GREAT feature I love about the phone, its the
answering machine, because it can be programmed to page you
(I have a Skytel alpha pager) when you receive a call, and will
send the number displayed on caller ID, and also indicate whether
the person left a message or not.
I wrote a complaint letter to Panasonic after the phone died
a second time and they weren't going to fix it. It really bothered me that they didn't extend the original warranty by
two months, when it took them two months to return it to me
the first time. They never responded to the complaint.

Summary: no more display
Review: The phone looks good, and has a long range.
BUT, you always need the user guide because the interface is not intuitive at all. And worst, there are technical problems:
I had trouble with caller ID so I had to return the phone.
The display on the handset is dead, after less than a year.

Summary: Terrible product!
Review: I bought this phone just about one year ago and over the last month and a half have been experiencing heavy static and "out of range messages". I currently have the phone away from all electronic componets and have moved it around my place several times but the results have been the same. My last phone was a Sony cordless and I had it for over 3 years with no problems except for my roomate spilling water on it- bad luck. I'm shocked to see all of the similar issues with this phone and believe that Panasonic should be liable for a full refund- I will not waste my time on another Panasonic phone. Someone mentioned a class action lawsuit..it might be time to look into that option....

Summary: Buzzing
Review: I bought this phone a year ago and have recently started having exactly the same problem with this phone as other customers - buzzing. It starts after ~20 minutes into conversation and makes it impossible to use the phone. I called Panasonic customer service and they suggested replacing handset battery which I was not able to find so far. After reading other reviews, I am hesitant to waste more money on this.

Summary: Legal Action
Review: I was duped into thinking Panasonic manufactured quality phones as well. 6 months later it was completely dead - out of range messages, and extreme static/buzzing. After numerous calls to Panasonic and angry letters, the best they could offer was a new model I could purchase for $50 in return for my silence (to which I obviously declined). With the number of horrible complaints they've received, I'm surprised that no one has threatened a class action lawsuit. Any lawyers out there interested?

Summary: Great voice reception
Review: I recently purchased this phone and after reading these reviews I thought I should take it back. Then I thought about my experiences with it. It's got great reception, easy to use, looks nice and has other miscellaneous functions I like. I don't see where the bad reviews can come from. I live in a two-story house and I use the phone mainly in my computer room. I thought all the electronic equipment (2 computers, hub, RCA Home Theater receiver, 2 Cerwin Vega AT-15s and 3 other speakers plus tv) would at least cause some interference but so far there's been absolutely none. It's worked great inside the house, my room, basement, etc with no loss in range nor quality. My only caveat is that the base rings, other than that, it's an awesome phone.

Summary: Unfair Reviews
Review: I purchased this phone a year and a half ago. Since then it's been kept several places in my bedroom, but on top of my VCR which was on top of a DVD player which was on top of a 19" TV was where it stayed the longest. After a few months of sitting on most of my other electronics, the phone's sound degraded and would frequently display "Out Of Range" errors even when placed inches from the base. So I was already to dig up my receipt and warranty info when I thought that maybe all the other electronics under the base unit were causing some interference. I moved the base unit to the other side of my room, away from my other electronics and I'm happy to say it's good as new....reception is clear and I can take the phone down my block while still being in range of the base.

By reading a bunch of the other reviews on this phone, it sounds like most of these bad reviews are caused by a lot of people keeping their base unit on or near their other electronics. So don't let the other reviews discourage you from buying this phone.....it looks cool and has got a lot of nice features (Caller ID, Digital Answering Machine, long range, etc.).
