Rating: Summary: This system is an excellent buy Review: As in most anything of significance that we buy, my husband and I did a lot of shopping both on line and in stores before we bought this telephone system. We found that both in looks and features, it had most systems beat that cost up to twice the price. On top of that, most brands wanted $50 or $60 more for an extra handset which is already included in this system. We have been using this telephone system now for several weeks and certainly have not been disappointed. It is comfortable and easy to use and the fidelity is very good. Delivery took only two days! Thank you Amazon!!! We highly recommend this system if you need two handsets and also recommend Amazon as your source. Marcy P

Rating: Summary: Save yourself the trouble... Review: For the past year my husband and I have been fighting with this phone. The features of the product work fine: caller ID, answering machine, mute, etc. The problem is that it continuously beeps in the ear of the person to whom you are attempting to have a conversation with. The beeping has gotten so bad that a 5 minute long conversation can have over 10 two-second long beeps.
It is very frustrating, especially when I am attempting to take a conference call or trying to make a doctor's appointment and I find myself constantly apologizing for the poor quality of my phone. Please save yourself the disappointment.
Rating: Summary: Solid phone, but lacking important features Review: I found the 2256 to be a rather decent phone, especially at the $100 price-point, however it's lacking some important features. First, there is no speed-dial. Dialing a memory number requires a minimum of 3 keypresses (Directory, then the first letter of the person's name, then dial), and many more if the person isn't the first name in the list under that letter. You might have full access to any messages even when you're in another city, but you don't have that access when you're upstairs or in another room! The answering machine functions are completely innaccessible from the handset. This is a major annoyance. Also you cannot leave memos from the handset. All these functions are in the base only. Also, the base is operated completely by voice-prompt. This may be normal these days, but I find it extremely annoying. A simple LCD display--or even controlling the base from the handset LCD--would suit me much better. Voice prompts are slow and tedious. There is no speakerphone on the base, only on the handsets, although the quality seems quite good. Finally, and most importantly, there is a very distinctive hissing sound on the phone. The quality itself seems good, but this hissing sound is always present, and annoying. The hissing does not appear to be as strong when using handset-to-handset intercom, so it is possible this is an issue with my phone line, however none of the other cordless phones in my house (either very ancient or very cheap) exhibit this problem. I am going to purchase a Panasonic KX-TG2382B and compare the quality of that phone, which is supposedly much better.

Rating: Summary: Very bad Review: I have had problems with this phone too. One headset has died and the beeps that everyone mentions are a very big problem. I bought this because I work from home and the speaker phone option on the headset was a must have, but everyone on the phone hears random beeping! I spent hours on the phone with ATT customer support and they had no idea how to fix it.
Rating: Summary: A disappointing choice Review: I have had the AT&T 2255 - a nearly identical model - for nearly a year, and can't recommend it. From the beginning, people complained about the quality of the outgoing message, no matter how many times I re-recorded it. Some months ago, the second handset died; recently, the battery on the main handset seems to be going. I've never figured out how to check call-waiting calls without disconnecting the first caller. In short, the phone is a disappointment in a number of ways. There are better choices out there. Pick another phone - you and your friends will be happy you did.
Rating: Summary: Don't waste your money on this phone system Review: I have had this phone for about 1 1/2 years and have been disappointed with it. The person on the other end is getting annoying beeps that are loud enough to interrupt the conversation. The talker doesn't hear it but the listener gets a loud beep in their ear about every 30 seconds to 1 minute.
Rating: Summary: Terrible equipment Review: This has been a piece of junk from the moment of purchase, and it keeps getting worse. The quality of the outgoing message is terrible, and there is nothing I could do to make it better. Calls are full of static. The phones don't seem to keep their charge for more than an hour or so. And now the caller ID readout has disappeared, leaving me without a caller ID function. Our Uniden phone is older than these, but have given us no problems whatsoever. I will never buy another AT&T product.
Rating: Summary: the worst phone ever Review: This is the worst phone I have ever owned. I had to return it after a few weeks. Actually, the phone itself was fine, but the answering machine was unusable. There was so much static that we could not understand any of the messages. And when leaving a message, there was horrible static as well. I wish I had seen the reviews before I bought the phone.
