Rating: Summary: The phone is a lemon, and Uniden doesn't stand behind it Review: After reading the rave reviews, I had high hopes for this phone. Unfortunately, the phone's base had a chronic electrical problem which caused it to fail to recharge the handset. Two other "symptoms" of this same problem were: the handset would say "out of range" while I was standing right next to the base, and the clock would have to be reset. And this happened three times a week for the first three weeks I owned the phone! Tried other electrical outlets, but the problem was clearly with the phone. So, I sent the phone back to Amazon, and replaced it with another of the same model, thinking I had just gotten a bad set. Wouldn't you know it, the second 5260 I got had exactly the same problem. So I am going to return this one for a different model - and not a Uniden. By the way: before returning the first phone to Amazon, I called Uniden to see if they could help me. Had one of the very worst customer service experiences EVER! The service rep told me she had heard about the recharging problem from a number of customers, but had no solution for me - except to tell me that I had better do something or my phone would stop working. That piece of advice not being very helpful, I asked for a supervisor. The supervisor said that Uniden would replace the malfunctioning phone with a new one for a fee of $12.99. It didn't matter that the phone was only 3 weeks old. As disappointing as it is to get a malfunctioning product, it is all the more frustrating when the manufacturer refuses to stand behind it.

Rating: Summary: Finaly a cordless phone that looks as great as it works! Review: Great phone! I have owned a lot of expensive systems (siemans was my last disaster) and all have failed what they claim to do. This phone is packed with features that are very user friendly with a display you can actually read almost across the room. The reception and range is excellent. Trust me when I say the phone feels great. The ultra slim design fits so well I never feel like its falling out of my hands. The key pad is responsive and firm. It is the best phone I have owned to date. Hint: When I called the store to see if they had in stock, the guy said yes and told me he was on one and the whole store uses them. This phone is under priced if you ask me, so enjoy the savings you will have from the more "expensive failures". John in Florida
Rating: Summary: Finally, a decent phone... Review: I bought this phone along with 2 additional handsets when I had a three story house. I needed a cordless phone that had decent range and caller ID so my wife could use it outside with the kids. Also DSS security was important, didn't want to have to chase down a corded phone if you need to give personal info on over the phone. I've not been happy with cordless's in the past, either their battery slowly underrecharges to the point of no charge, or you (oops), drop it once and it's dead. I replaced the AT&T 2230s with the dying battery issue (I think AT&T sub-ed those out to Vtech to make, and it shows), but before then we had the 900 mhz DSS Uniden. After a ton of reseach, I bought the 5260. Works great. Speakerphone is an added bonus. So is the multiple ringers (we finally replaced Christmas music with Irish Eyes for St Paddy's Day). The phones have been dropped on multiple occasions, and not even a hickup. I recommend them they have restored my faith in Uniden. The only negative is don't plan to use the phone next to your 802.11b wireless network. It will kill your connection, but I think that is indicative of any 2.4 Mhz phone.

Rating: Summary: Great phone but sound quality lacks Review: I have been an electronic technican for over 25 years and am pretty much on the money when I talk about something. I am looking to replace an old AT&T 9100 900mhz phone that I bought 10 years ago. The only reason I'm replacing it is because it has no display, just a basic phone. I have been looking at a lot of phones lately and came across the Uniden DCT 5260. This is a very cool phone. I am diabetic and don't see well at night so I was very interested in the backlit display and keypad. Very easy to see at night, nice large letters and numbers in the display, lots of neat ringers and melodies, a voicemail indicator light, and 1 button voicemail dial. This is the first phone I have seen that doesn't set the time by the incoming call, you have to manually set it. Also it doesn't give you the date, just the day of the week which you also have to manually set. The big and only real complaint I have about this phone is the voice quality. I called several of my friends who are also telecom technicians to see what they said about the voice quality. They all said the same thing; (You sound like you are in a tin can). So I called my voice mail and left myself a message and then played it back; they were right, I sounded like I was 1000 miles away. Also, if you turned up the volume to hear it OK then you got background noise. As much as I liked this phone, I took it back yesterday because after all, all the fancy features in the world aren't worth it, if it sounds like crap. A phone has 1 main purpose, to carry a voice signal, all the other fancy options are just that, fancy options. I've come to the conclusion that the best sounding phones are still the old 900 mhz. You don't get any greater distance with 2.4. It just helps eliminate interference. 5.8 is a different story. But in my opinion, a good 900 mhz phone can't be beat.
Rating: Summary: Very happy with this pruchase Review: I read all of the reviews for similarly priced phones, and decided to give this Uniden a try. I have had the phone for several weeks and am very happy with my purchase. I would recommend this phone to anyone. The reception is excellent, and even works when I walk down the street. the menu and internal phone book are easy to use and navigate. I also love the one touch voice mail access as well as the message waiting indicater. Overall, this phone is definitely worth it, and has many features one would find on a much more expensive phone. This is one purchase I am glad I made.
