Rating: Summary: Poor Design and System Limitations Review: 1. This system does not come with either a dual phone jack or a pass through connector to put it in-line with an existing phone. It has to be a standalone line 2. Does not work with some PBX based office phone systems so if you were thinking about going wireless in your office, check with your IT/Phone group first.
Rating: Summary: Don't buy if you have wireless router-otherwise awesome Review: As with other reviewers, I have had problems with the CT12 signal interfering with my linksys G wireless router. No one-Linksys or Plantronics-has a solution for the interference.
If you don't have a wireless router, the CT12 is well worth it.
Rating: Summary: Great new product! Review: Big improvement over the predecessor model CT10 since Plantronics has added a caller ID feature and an in-use indicator light to this one. If you are looking for a single-line cordless telephone for your home or small office, and if you don't mind not having the option of a traditional cordless handset receiver to hold up to your ear, you will like this model. Be aware that you have to use the headset for every call (no handset), so if several members of a family use the same phone, get yourself some spare ear cushions for hygeine. The only negative is that the dial pad buttons are very, very small, so maybe I would not recommend this for some elderly users, visually impaired users or anyone who feels more comfortable with larger buttons to press.
Rating: Summary: Nice Product and 2 Gripes Review: Excellent sound quality, range and comfort. A visual cue (blinking red light on mic boom) when you are in an active call is an innovative addition. Two gripes: Unlike the other reviewer, it does interfere with my Linksys wireless router, so beware if you want to use these two devices competing for air space. Also, the mute feature requires that you depress the button for 2 seconds in order to activate. Not sure what Plantronics was thinking here.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Sound Quality, Works with my wireless network Review: First, I get excellent sound quality. I use it for conference
calls every day, and the other conferees say that they can
hear me really well, much better than a former cordless (Uniden)
phone also at 2.4 Ghz.
Next, I have a wireless 802.11b network, based on a Linksys
WET11. Yes it can totally shut down the network, but if I push
the "chan" button while attempting to transmit data on the
network, after several pushes it seems to find a set of channels
(it uses spread spectrum) that allows me to talk and use the
network at the same time. I found that an even more reliable
method is to be accessing a webpage or somesuch at the same time
that I push the "talk" button. In that situation it consistently
chooses a channel combination that coexists peacefully with my
network. In fact I know I've hit the right combination because
I hear a small amount of static in the headset when transferring
data over the network. Oh, and by the way I have my wireless-b
channel set to 11.
Overall I'm very pleased with the phone.
Rating: Summary: READ THIS REVIEW Review: I am a young business man that make his money by talking on a phone. This phone is stellar. Its limitations are mostly having to do with the phone systems of some offices. Firefly light is the best invention yet. It is very light and small. It can definately be used in conjunction with a multi-line phone as long as you are not constantly transfering calls like a switchboard operator. Don't be afraid to buy this phone if you get it for under a bill.
Rating: Summary: best money spent Review: I am so happy with this headset/phone--it is absolutely the best money I spent on setting up a home office this year. I was hesitant to buy it because I worried about feedback, but I can walk all over the house--hands-free!--and rarely get fuzzy reception. Even if I'm standing by a radio or computer there is no feedback. I bought it 8 months ago and it is still going strong. I would by this phone again!
Rating: Summary: Tops for Comfort & Sound Quality Review: I have owned a couple hands-free phones in recent years and find this to be a big step forward in sound quality, comfort, and size. The boom microphone is excellent. It doesn't reach around in front of your mouth the way old-fashioned headsets did, which is an advantage. A red LED at the end flashes to let people know you are on the phone. Drop the phone into the base unit and it charges automatically, giving you about 5 hours of talk time. A stalk on the base unit swivels up so you can hang the headset up when its not in use. Comfort is so good you can forget you have it on (I wore it out to my car the other day. Doh!). The handset has a belt clip and there is a shirt clip to keep the cord out of your way. You can switch the ear piece and mic from one ear to the other in about three seconds. Likewise, you can pick up the headset almost as quickly as you could a regular phone. Range is good. I pace around my office and don't find the signal degrades, although walls, partitions and doors will obviously shorten range. If you need more range than this offers, you probably need a cell phone. Build quality and metrials are both excellent. It takes normal wear and tear and has been dropped several times with no ill effects. Design is modern and attractive. The only shortcoming worth noting is ergonomic -- I had to dock it one star because the buttons are needlessly small (think TV remote circa 1990), though they are clearly marked and easily readable. Recommended.
Rating: Summary: Best(very small), and best sound quality ever! Review: I just got a used CT12 2.4 GH phone, and it's sound quality is great! Unlike my last 2.4 GH phone, this one doesn't interfere with the microwave. even when i'm standing next to it. This is a overall very good phone, except the buttons are kindof small. But that's nothing.
Rating: Summary: Lot's of Wireless Networking issues Review: I purchased this phone with high hopes of using it as my primary home office phone. The phone directly interferes around 50% of the time with my 802.11.B wireless network. Since the phone channel can not be fixed, the Plantronics CT12 will randomly knock me completely off the network. No amount of calls to Plantronics or fiddling with my wireless channels improves this problem. Thier answer is that the channels are choosen by the phone and there's nothing they can do. I've returned the phone for a refund. The other problem is that the phone can not be used while it's in the charging base, so you'll need to have another office phone for when the battery runs low. If it weren't for these two major issues, it's a nice phone with clear sound and the little red light on the mic boom is cute.
