Rating: Summary: Ineffective, Fault Prone Technology Review: I bought a Siemens Gigaset 4015 and several 4000 handsets a year ago, and have had nothing but trouble with them. They cut off phone calls in mid-conversation, and are so unreliable, I can no longer use them. I've called Siemens Technical Support multiple times, and am given useless troubleshooting tips. What's been my solution? I bought an inexpensive AT&T cordless phone from my local drugstore, and it works like a charm. The low $ AT&T phone beats the higher $$$ Siemens phones hands down. I don't buy all the excuses that try to make up for the Siemens cordless products' faults -- my AT&T cordless works like a champ in a home that has a wireless network, where I use my microwave, and where I do all the other everyday things a good phone should be able to handle.
Rating: Summary: clear voice quality and nice features Review: I bought the 4000 as a remote to my 4210. It was a mistake. The 42XX series will automatically download your adddress book. The 4000 does not have this feature. You will have to input you phone numbers again. The 4200 adds voice dialing and called ID. For a basic remote in a Siemens phone network, this phone will be fine. I use mine with a Vonage VOIP (cable) phone system and it works great. It broke my heart to say goodbye to Verizon. NOT!
Rating: Summary: One of the most stylish 2.4 Ghz phone out there! Review: I have been using this phone for almost 2 years now and the only problem I have encountered is with the base charger refusing to charge if the phone is not placed exactly upright. Otherwise, reception is always crystal clear, range is incredibly FAR! I live in second floor, I took my phone to the basement through elevator and the only static I heard is after I got into my car! Every time my friend came to my place the look with awe at this stylish phone. I would recommend this to everyone who wants a quality phone that doesn't have those geeky style in it.
Rating: Summary: Good overall, but one key problem. Review: I just discovered in another review here that there truly is no mute function. I had been searching the Web for advice on how to do just that. With small children and regular concalls, I need to be able to mute. Ack. I am happy with this phone otherwise.
Rating: Summary: A great phone for the price. Review: I love the phone for all its features - alarm, clock display, 10 ring tones, volume settings, the ability to lock to key pad with a single touch of a button, ability to disable the ring again with a single touch, ability to change ring settings based on time, etc. In my case the ring automatically disables from 9PM to 6AM. I have tried other 2.4 gig phones, and none comes closer in this price range. Yes, it does not have a face contour. Well that's why you use a headset which plugs into this set to keep your neck muscles in good shape. The ability to use NI Metal Hydride or NiCd rechargable batteries is a big plus. I would not have to spend a fortune ordering special batteries in the future. Again please never use regular batteries. The product is made in the US, where people are paid fairly. Compare that to how China comes up with cheap [stuff] to dump in Canada and the US. I had an issue with a Siemens product a year or so ago, and they went out of their way to keep my business.
Rating: Summary: Great quality phone, but lacks face contour Review: I love this phone, but my only complaint is that it lacks any face contour, making it nearly impossible to shoulder against your head. But, nobody's making phones like that anymore... sigh... :-)
Rating: Summary: Thumbs Down (Low Headset Volume, No Mute,Other Shortcomings) Review: I really wanted to like this phone, but here are the problems: 1. When a headset is plugged in, the volume (for listening) is too low and can't be turned up sufficiently. (This is not a problem with the headset.) 2. No mute button. Terrible if you use the phone for work/meetings. 3. Limited speed dial. I like to program access codes (like mailbox number and password), since I use my phone for work purposes. I can't do that with this phone. 4. The buttons are not very responsive and there is a delay until you hear a "beep" indicating that you pressed a button. Sounds petty but the result is that, when dialing, you often miss a number but don't realize it until it's too late. Then you have to start over. 5. The size and shape of the phone are not conducive to holding it between your head/ear and shoulder.
Rating: Summary: Neat features but poor performance Review: I recently purchased two Gigaset 4000 2.4 GHz handsets and the appropriate base unit. My previous Uniden EXS9960 cordless phone had died, and I liked the expandable features and intercom ability of the Gigaset. Keep in mind that I loved my Uniden phone. It was crystal clear at over 650 feet away from the base unit. I could actually be below the horizon with it and it still sounded fantastic. Never any clicks or other interference....just clear, crisp sound. So I held the Siemens phone to a high standard. What a let down! The Gigaset won't even make it 500 feet, and performace degrades every step away from the base unit you take. I get all kinds of annoying clicks and buzzes, even if I'm in the same room as the base unit. I had hoped the 2.4GHz technology would be at least equal to the 900 MHz Uniden I'd had. I'm truly sorry I made the purchase. I'll list the few "good" features quickly, but overall I'd say the poor performance of the phone should be enough to prevent you from purchasing it. The shape is nice and comfortable to hold in your hand. There is no external antenna, which is a nice feature. My main reason for buying the phone was that it runs on normal, everyday, buy-them-at-any-gas-station AA batteries. Each handset comes with two Ni-Cad AA rechargables, or you can use NiMH batteries if you like...the charger will take both. Don't know why other manufacturers haven't taken to this...sure wish they would. The expandable feature is cool. You can have up to four handsets per base unit. The intercom feature is nice, especially if you move around outside and someone inside can talk to you easily. Too bad the Gigaset 4000 is so limited on range or it might be a great feature.
Rating: Summary: Pleasantly Surprised Review: I searched for months for a phone that offered more than 7 hours talk time. I was thrilled when I found one that offered 10. The display screen is mediocre at best, and the 4010 doesn't have a mute button. Otherwise, a nice phone for the price.
Rating: Summary: Excellent phone Review: Was looking for an easy solution to phone quality and ease of use with an integrated answering system. Persistence in reading the documentation thoroughly was key in setting the phones up properly. The quality is really far and away much better than any other phones I've used. I love quality stuff so this fit me to a T. Price was good. So far, after about 6 months we've had no problems. I am a very satisfied customer.
