The SPPIM977 from Sony is a cordless phone with a number of useful features. It transmits on the 900 MHz frequency, employs digital technology for additional clarity, and supports one or two phone lines. Caller ID/call waiting compatible, the SPPIM977 also holds up to 20 numbers in its internal caller ID memory. The display-and-dial feature allows you to quickly scroll through the caller ID list and dial the displayed number with the touch of a button. Ten speed dial presets allow you to easily call the most frequently used outgoing numbers, while a 50-number phone directory provides a convenient way to store important phone numbers. A built-in speakerphone and headset compatibility provide hands-free communication methods, and four-way conferencing allows you to hold conversations with multiple parties at once. Handset and base LCD screens provide an easy way to navigate the phones many features, while a built-in data port allows you to attach peripherals such as a fax machine or modem to one of the phone lines. Handset and ringer controls let you adjust volume levels to your liking, and the flash button gives you access to call waiting (requires a subscription to a fee-based service). The NiCAD batteries have a talk time of about seven hours with a seven-day standby life. A redial button automatically calls the last outgoing number, while the hold button places the current conversation on hold, allowing you to answer an incoming call on the other line.
