Rating: Summary: Nice features, but nobody could hear me Review: I bought this phone because of the features. I really liked the idea of having a separate dial pad on the base. Whenever I got myself into one of those automated menu systems it proved very convenient. The speaker phone on this phone is superb! It's full duplex, which means both parties can talk at the same time without having the phone chop up the conversation.I found the caller ID display on the back of the phone a bit awkward. When I recieved another call I had to turn the phone over to see who was calling. When I did this, of course I could no longer hear the person I was talking to. If it was on the front of the handset, I could have held the phone away from my face for a second to see who was calling and still been able to hear the one I was talking to. And finally the reason I returned the phone: Most of the people I talked to said that they could barely hear me, and just to let you know, I am a very loud talker. Callers kept asking me to switch to a corded phone. After this happened several times I couldn't see the point in having a cordless phone --at least this particular one.

Rating: Summary: poor implementation of perfect set of features. Review: I bought this phone for the two line capability, dss technology and built-in answering machine. I also liked the idea of having two keypads. The features are terrific but I hate the phone - the buttons don't seem to always respond - using many of the features is difficult (i'm always having to pull out the manual) and holding the phone on my shoulder often results in cutting off the caller. The keyboard on the base only works with the speakerphone-not exactly what I had in mind! So now I'm on the search for yet another phone with these feautes (minus the called ID which I don't use). Unfortunatley, I kept thinking I'd adjust to this phone and didn't return it promptly so now I think it's mine. I was recently at a client's home and noticed they had the same phone - I asked if they liked it and they said they hated it! So I guess I'm not the only one.

Rating: Summary: Disposable workmanship Review: I specifically wanted a Panasonic phone since I had been very pleased with their products in the past. Not any more. I purchased this phone for my elderly mother so she would have a reliable phone with all the features she needs. The phone was barely a year old, and it would not dial out. We assumed the problem was with her phone service, but it was the phone. This is not a cheap phone. From the start, the clarity and ease of programming were only so-so. I see no point in having it repaired, because I can't trust it's future reliability.

Rating: Summary: Very good phone, cool features, a few flaws. Review: My last cordless phone was also a Panasonic, it was an old49Mhz job, but it was very sturdy and reliable. I went with thePanasonic KXTC1870B 900MHz because I wanted something with better security and range. I was wanted something durable and reliable. The KXTC1870B has an effective range of about 250 yards or so, beyond that it starts to click out. So far I am very impressed with the sound quality and range. This model also has some interesting features such as a Pager Mode, that will dial your pager and notify you when new messages are recorded. The Caller ID on the handset is also pretty handy to use. I also like the Headphone-Mic jack that is built into the phone. Hands free talking is cooler than you may think! There are a few things that I would like to see improved on though. When I first bought the phone I thought that you could manually enter in names/phone numbers on the Caller ID display, sort of like a built in phone book. This is not the case. The LCD display will only show names via the Caller ID, you cannot manually enter in names. Names and numbers can be stored, but they are automatically entered into the phone via Caller ID. Also with the autodialer system, it does not display the phone number of stored numbers. You must write down on a sheet of Post-It which phone numbers are stored in which memory slots. Very, very sad. It would not have been difficult to tie in the autodialer directory to the LCD display, I don't know why Panasonic did not do this. The overall setting up of the phone is pretty confusing, it is not very intuitive. Plan on referring back to the manual often. The earpiece could also be a little more comfortable, the earpiece on my old Panansonic phone was much more comfortable. Finally it's unfortunate that Panasonic does not have a battery backup on any of it's models. Answering machine messages are stored on flash memory, so they are safe during a power outage, but during an outage you cannot use the phone. Other models like Uniden and Toshiba have battery backups that let you you the phone during a power outage. I still like the phone, despite the minor annoyances that I've mentioned. I expect my phone to provide trouble-free service for years. END
Rating: Summary: poor implementation of perfect set of features. Review: Set of features is perfect, but what's most important for phone -- how it sounds. This phone distorts the sound, use of callerID is complicated (reverse side of the receiver), answering system, time setting are complicated and not user-friendly.
Rating: Summary: For the money, there have got to be better phones out there. Review: The signal often breaks up even when you're very near the base and you have to keep pressing the channel button to find a clear one-- something that in a phone for this price should be automatic. The flash/call-wait button is on the back of the phone next to the caller id window and it's very easy to press this button (and hang up on your party) if you brace the phone against your shoulder. Sometimes when you pick the handset up off the base and then quickly press the Talk key (like a normal person would when you're trying to make a call) the phone gets confused for five seconds and then beeps at you after failing to give you a dial tone. Speaker phone sound quality and operation is excellent though the base only has 5 speed-dial slots. Range seems pretty good once you've found a channel that isn't plagued with static. I have not used the answering machine capabilities so I can't comment on them. I would not recommend this phone, and generally regret purchasing it.
