Summary: Phone AOK, Base Risers Can Cause Unt To Wobble
Review: GREAT VALUE!1) The phone allows for multiple area codes that DO NOT need to be preceded by a 1 (A PLUS for any larger city going to 10 digit local dialing!). 2) The display shows what you are currently dialing so if there is a question about finger cooperation, one look will tell (YES, finally!). 3) The sound quality is good, with volume controlled by the speaker phone volume control. 4) If a number is displayed, and "dial display" is pressed, it automatically uses the speaker phone ability, or the handset can be picked up when the called party answers. 5) The third line (summary) shows NEW as well as the number of calls in memory. Just be careful when using the small legs that can be extended from the base to enhance the viewing angle. It is easy to cause them to partially retract back into the base, leaving the unit wobbly. Overall, I really like the unit (therefore I have two), and it works well with my headset...

Summary: Buyer Beware: Not All Features Work
Review: Handset and touch tone dialing work well. Speakerphone does not function consistently, Caller ID name removal is tedious and repetitive. ATT Customer Service website and 800 number do not provide support nor answers to questions. Phone manual is very limited and does not provide thorough troubleshooting answers.

Summary: phone shorts out my whole phone line
Review: I am here after much less than a year buying a new phone because this one shorts out and affects the ability of any phone in the house to get a dial tone! Today it shorted out IN THE MIDDLE OF A PHONE CALL and so it is going in the trash. BEWARE!!

Summary: Loaded With Useful Features
Review: I have used this phone for a year with no technical problems. Sound quality is OK. LCD display has good contrast, which is also adjustable. Good features besides those mentioned in other reviews are a line status light to let you know if the phone line is available without picking up the receiver, and a "Directory" function that can capture caller ID names and numbers and display them sequentially in alphabetical order for later retrieval and automatic dialing. Lots of functionality for the money.

Summary: phone shorts out my whole phone line
Review: The phone itself is pretty good. I've used it for about a week. The handset is comfortable. The buttons work. The speakerphone is OK. All this sounds silly, but finding a good corded CID speakerphone at this price that works isn't easy. So far so good. The caller ID part (which doubles as a directory/speed dial) is fairly easy to navigate once you get used to it. If the name and phone number are unavailable, the display will tell you so, in addition to a weird three letter code to show if the info was blocked by the caller, or the phone company, etc etc. Setting up the CID is kind of awkward (multiple area codes and such), and I'm not sure if my parents (who are definitely not tech oriented) would be able to figure it out. As for the directory part, I'm used to having separte buttons for each person on my speed dial. However, think of the directory like a modern cellphone design in that you use up-and-down keys to scroll through your list of names, or you can use a number key to skip to a particular letter. When I first programmed the phone, the names weren't listed alphabetically, but it automagically re-sorted them (don't know how or when). The LCD display is fairly clear but it is not backlit so it might get washed out in bright light. There is a light that shows if the line is in use, as well as a voice-mail message waiting indicator. Overall this phone is pretty good. Partner it with that fancy 2.4Ghz cordless with el cheapo NiCd battery that runs out after two hours.

Summary: Beware: This Phone Cannot Store Large Numbers.
Review: While the price is hard to beat, this phone becomes dysfunctional should you try to store numbers longer than 10 digits. Yes, ATT will tell you that storing large numbers is possible. Here's what they dont tell you:'the Directory "hangs" on every, single entry in your phonebook that includes a calling card number, 10-10 dial around number, etc. This means that if you had 10 numbers stored in this phone, it could take as much as 10 minutes to reach the final number, because the program "hangs" for at least 45 secs on each number as you try to toggle through the list.This made the phone basically useless for us, as we do alot of international calling, with a dial-around prefix.
