Rating: Summary: Phone works just less then a year, very bad service. Review: After four or five months, the speakerphone volume would suddenly grow faint and we could not hear our caller nor adjust the volume, so we returned the phone. But here the problem began:We sent it to the Thompson Exchange center in El Paso, TX. (the only official GE service center) there is no 800 number to call and check on the status. 2 MONTHS went by, after 25 min. someone told me they don't believe they can fix it and will "TRY" to replace it with a similar item. Another month past by and I called and protested, so after putting me on hold forever (on a long distance call) a lady took my phone number and said that since I have been waiting over 3 months, they will Fw: it to a different department, who will call me back in 5 days... (I wish!.. sweet dreams...) and they will tell me what they will do; most probably they will send a refund but maybe they will offer an exchange. Of course I'm still waiting for that "after 5 days phone call", but now I'm thinking if when I call back I should refuse an exchange, and rather buy the Southwestern bell model FM2575, which has the same features, and Wall Mart sells it for $$. People tell me southwestern is cheaper quality, I wonder, since that phone got better reviews. I might give it a try, since I can return it within the year to the co. "at their charge for the shipping", which means service, which I didn't get from GE. I believe GE purposely gives such a hard time for people who wish to return their products (non 800 #, long times etc.) to discourage busy people from exchanging, and for a lot of people it is easier and faster to just throw it out and buy a new one. Shame on them!
Rating: Summary: Don't Waste Your Money Review: After six months the answering machine doesn't work.
Rating: Summary: nice but Review: Has all of the required features -- answering machine, speaker phone, caller id, and corded phone. But ringer does not ring if power goes out (defeats the purpose of the corded phone) and volume on answering machine does not mute (defeating the purpose of the answering machine if attempting some sort of privacy in a household).
Rating: Summary: Very Disappointing Review: I bought this phone about 4 months ago. It seems to have a mind of its own. It randomly does not record messages or caller ID. This happens at least once a day, but up to 3 times a day depending on call volume. It it weren't for my wall phone which also has caller ID, I would have no idea these people called. I have sat next to the machine and listened to an incoming message and noted that the machine did not list it on the caller ID and did not have any history/recording of the call. It also randomly cuts people off about 30 seconds into their message. Other times it records a 2 minute message just fine. Very undependable. It also does not list incoming calls from the day in any kind of order. I will press the key to go through the calls from the day and get several calls dated from a day or two earlier mixed in with the current days calls. Would not recommend purchasing this model.
Rating: Summary: Lousy Speaker Phone but ok otherwise Review: I bought this phone because I wanted an inexpensive SpeakerPhone and guess what I got? A cheap unusable SpeakerPhone. The rest of the telephone seems to work ok, good contrast adjustment, Caller ID seems to work ok, voice clarity is ok. If you want a SpeakerPhone this one is not for you, if you want a decent corded Caller ID phone then it might work for you.
Rating: Summary: am radio comes in loud and clear Review: I have always had a GE phone and appreciated the quality and ease of use. This one has everything I wanted...digital answering machine, call waiting caller id, corded...and the am radio reception I didn't want. I can hear the local traffic and weather as well as the person on the other end. I exchanged it for the same brand thinking I had gotten a lemon...no luck. This one is exactly the same. So, it's back to searching for me. A few reviews mention the SW Bell, so I will try to locate one of those. Too bad GE lost a loyal customer:-(
Rating: Summary: Happy Talker in San Diego Review: I have been more than satisfied with this GE phone. I purchased it nearly three years ago, and it has worked fine ever since. It is easy to use and program. Prior to finding this phone I purchased several others but returned them because of poor sound quality or other draw backs. I was in the process of ordering another phone like this one (as a gift) when I came upon several less favorable reviews. I was surprised since I have been so pleased with it. Maybe I've just been lucky. Or, perhaps, dissatisfied customers might be more motivated to write reviews than satisfied customers. (Note: I do not have caller ID and thus have not used those functions of this phone.)
Rating: Summary: Looking to buy another one for a friend Review: I have had my GE 29893GE1 phone for almost four years. I have moved from Arizona to Oregon and now am up in Washington. This phone has really taken a beating and like a Timex, It keeps on Clicking.
In addition, I am severly hard of hearing and I can use the speaker phone with no problems at all. Well except if the party on the other end is talking too fast.
I strongly recommend this product.
Rating: Summary: Tinny sound quality and static Review: I purchased this phone with high expectations and was disappointed by the tinny sound quality of both recorded and incoming messages. But the main problem is the HUGE amount of static on incoming messages. I've tried this phone in other outlets and other locations and it seems to be a problem within the phone. Needless to say, it's going back to the store ASAP.
