Rating: Summary: Less than I expected from Plantronics Review: I bought this unit based on a few reviews that said it was great. Well, I find that the earphone has sufficient volume, but the microphone boom is inadequate. The boom is too short and I am forever trying to find a position where people can hear me. I don't understand why Plantronics made the boom so short and without any adjustment!I have tried maximizing the volume and have found that the only position that works is to have the headset twisted around so the earphone in half off my ear. That is the only position wher other parties can hear me. Quite frankly this product stinks.
Rating: Summary: Good product with querks Review: This headset is great, but takes some getting used to. Trying out the different earhooks takes time. I found that the most comfortable one isn't the best for sound. By reading the other reviews, it's probably because of the shape of my ear. For me, the speaker has to be up against my ear for me to hear well. Some of the earhooks push it away. I never had a problem when I used the headband. The mic worked great. Nobody had a problem hearing me. The swivel, or what's supposed to be the swivel, doesn't work too well. Sometimes I need to move the mic up when I'm not using it. It's easier to just remove the whole unit. Overall it was worth the price I paid. This review lacks the 5th star because it can be clumsy at times and the swivel doesn't work like it should. maybe it's not designed to.
Rating: Summary: Serious design flaws make this high-end product a gimmick Review: I got an M175 after much research. Below is some unflattering feedback I gave Plantronics on this product which I share now w/ you. The mistakes they made with this product are so brain-dead, I'm really surprised that any company, especially Plantronics, would let this product come to market. --------- Prior to making the purchase it seemed that a) the M175 was your top of the line model w/ a boom mike for cell applications b) the convertability seemed like a great feature Well, having used it so far I believe that a) earhook mode is a joke. it's flimsy and bounces around my ear even if I move my head only slightly, no matter what hook size I use. Very annoying. You should have a way to adjust the grip tension at the ear so that I as a user can trade off comfort for snugness or something. So basically, the "convertability" is at best a gimmick. b) Plantronics' online knowledgebase posits that with the boom mike which only extends somewhere down my cheek should still work satisfactorily from the standpoint of the people I talk to. Well, it doesn't. I get complaints from people I call even if I max out the mic switch at the plug connector. Frankly, I'm a little dubious that the short boom was a good idea and Plantronics should have made it adjustable like everything else and/or put a foam ball on it so that if I wanted the mike could extend the mike closer to my mouth. And this from someone with a normal-sized head. c) Plantronics also should have made the boom articulated such that it could rotate down my face without having to move the entire earpiece with it and in the process lessening the contact quality at the ear. These all seem like design flaws. I expected more from Plantronics who's supposed to have years of good experience making these products. I give the product at best an mediocre rating from a user standpoint. Your mileage may vary, but I doubt it.
Rating: Summary: Don't Buy This Headset ! Microphone is inadequate . Review: We bought this headset recently and returned it the same day it arrived. The microphone does not sit close enough to your mouth to pick up your voice . We tried it both over your ear and on the headband but neither method worked well enough to locate the microphone close enough to your mouth to make quality calls. All the callers we talked to with this headset said they could hardly hear us. When you use this headset you will lose about 60% of your voice volume going out to the callers you are talking to and there are no volume controls that will help the situation. My advice is to pay a little more and find a headset that places the microphone infront of your mouth to pick up your voice much better , those you call will appreciate that you did.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Product Review: This is a great product. I was able to purchase it from Amazon for only $25.00, and definitely got my money's worth. I like this model because it has volume controls for both your voice output, and your hearing input. I use it as a headset, and the only complaint I have is that the speaker has a lot of bass. There are not any highs in the voice you hear, so your friend's voice always sounds emotionless and flat. I guess it is this way to protect your hearing. The sound is quite clear, just a limited frequency response.
Rating: Summary: Problems with sound Review: I bought it to use with Nokia 6100 (which need an adapter) and with Siemens Gigaset. Sound breaks on both phones. You talk for 10 minutes and then it's gone. I liked all the features - mute, volume control but with disappearing sound it's no use. Besides, the voice tube is too short - it is more than an inch from the mouth. Luckily, I bought it from Circuit City so I can bring it back. Advice: buy it first at local store where you can return it later if it works for you. I wouldn't recommend this phone though anyway.
Rating: Summary: doesnt work as documented in amazon ad Review: I bought two of these to use with mobile phones because of the mute capability ... heh ... it doesnt have mute capability even though the ad reads volume AND MUTE control. I tried it anyway to see if it was more comfortable than the original headsets on my mobiles and the originals were better ... so it was a loss all around. And BTW, whoever decided to put a mute button that has to be held down continously on mobile phones was a sadist ... try holding on down for a hour or more while typing on your computer with the other hand ...
Rating: Summary: Excelent Sound Quality & Useful Information Review: This product IS compatible With Virtually All Cell Phones In SOME cases it needs an adapter. usually this is the fault of non-standard phone jacks to check to see if your phone is compatible with this headset. (without an adapter or to see what adapter you will need) go to http://www.plantronics.com/mobile/cellular.html for mobile phones and http://www.plantronics.com/mobile/cordless.html for cordless phones check these pages!
Rating: Summary: It Broke After 1 Week! Review: I got my headset and loved it, the people I was talking to couldn't tell a difference and I was convinced that I was saving my brain from radiation. That was the first week I had it. The second week everyone I called complained that they couldn't hear me because of all of the static on the phone. As soon as I would unplug the headset, "Oh, that is much better now!". I would have to recommend against this headset based on what is obviously cheap construction and second-rate components.
Rating: Summary: The BEST headset.... Review: This is one of the best headsets I have ever used--works great on my desk phone as well as my Motorola Startac cell phone--only complaint is I can only wear it with the headband--all the earpieces are too big and won't hold the phone in place. Other than that--EXCELLENT sound quality on both ends and Great price!
