Summary: Great when they work
Review: The title says it all. We purchased two of them for our small business, planning to buy more. One of them stopped functioning after just a couple of days. We returned it for replacement which was done expeditiously. The replacement is still working fine. However, the other one has now gone south. By any standard, this is an unacceptable reliability record. I will buy one more because I like these phones so much. But if the new one craters too, I will be forced to replace them with the bulkier Panasonic phone.

Summary: Great sound, good range, poor durability
Review: We have several Gigaset handsets at work in the network support department. With the base centrally located, we are able talk throughout nearly all of this 28,000 square-foot two-story concrete and steel building, with only a couple of spots that get a bit noisy. The sound quality at this end is nearly equal to a corded phone, and a callers at the other end say it's pretty good too. The convenience is great, we use handsfree headsets, to allow ourselves to be handsfree to work, or not be tied to the desk when on perpetual hold with tech support. It is easy to page and conference other handsets too.

However, they have some significant durability problems. We have gone through several handsets in the past year. The belt-clip does not grip well at all, and the phone drops frequently. When the fall is slowed or stopped by a handsfree headset, it can damage the jack it is plugged into, which is only held in place by it's solder pads. When they fall is stopped by the (mostly carpeted) floor, several have stopped functioning properly, some stopped completely. If Siemens could make these MUCH more rugged, or at least supply a cushioned case, then I could easily recommend these. Until then, be careful with them, and keep the receipt. Normally vendor extended warranties are a bad investment, but for these, it's not a bad idea.

Summary: Nice features if they would last
Review: Just as another reviewer mentioned, our cordless often made it sound as if we were talking under water. The cordless handset would not hold a charge very well either. Finally, after less than two years of use, the cordless died on us. The features are what sold us on this phone as we had hoped to use it for both our home and home office. We love the light-weight, slim cordless. The desk phone has great features. However, it's tough to swallow that we spent this much on a phone and the handset didn't last at all. We are left with a desk phone but can't convince ourselves to risk the money on another handset to replace it. Anyone care to buy a couple chargers? :)

Summary: Excellent System
Review: I love this phone system. The sound is great. The feature set is great. I have seen mixed reviews on the unit. One thing to remember, these run on the 2.4 Ghz ISM band. The FCC regulations require that the 2.4 Ghz ISM unlicensed manufacturers engineer their equipemnt to tolerate interference, and not to generate interference. However, this does not apply to Microwave ovens. If you crank up your Microwave to pop popcorn, and try to talk on the phone, I can guarantee that the phone will sound bad, or not work. The Microwave has a magnetron oscillator running in the 2.4 Ghz range. It is essentially, a wide band jammer transmitter. Another thing to note, with all the new wireless home networking coming out, you will start to see more issues with interference. Choice? The cool toys, or the Microwave.

Summary: 0 stars... I do NOT recommend this phone system!
Review: We have had this system for almost two years -- DO NOT BUY IT! After writing the manufacturer and getting a form-letter response, we still have had no luck. We have the base and 4 cordless extensions, and nothing works right! All of the cordless extensions continually sound like you are underwater or as our callers put it "have a helicopter flyng above you." Other times the phones just drop the call. And this is when the batteries are fully charged, although we have also found that they don't hold their charges for long.

The phones look cool, but that's all going for this system. Given the price, you would hope for something more functional, better organized (try getting through the answering machine menu... THAT'S a chore!!!), and more reliable. This phone system will NOT work in a cordless environment, is NOT easy to use, and should NOT be purchased!

Summary: An Excellent Cordless Phone
Review: THis is a great phone. We have a *big* old house with not very many phone jacks, and these phones are indespensable.

Summary: Afgter high hopes-a flop
Review: I started out with high hopes-and pretty good functioning on this set. I got it primarily for the extension feature. I have a room that will be hard to run a wire for, and I wanted a phone in there. Since my last writing last July-it has steadily deteriorated in its functioning. In a nutshell, one extension usually works, while the other had a difficult time searching, then connection where I could hear the speaker perfectly, but the listener on the other end would hear me like I was talking underwater, and give up. Have missed many calls. After calls to tech support-all with the same advice-reset all by unplugging, and reseting the handsets to factory specs. They then work for the first call, then go back to the same problem. These are high priced lemons. One last thought-I wondered if dropping one might have done this, but discovered after resetting everything that the other unscratched handset was doing the same thing the scratched one did before.

Bought a competitors 900mhz DSS unit-hope I have better luck here.

Summary: Great Features But Useless Product - No Range
Review: Let me tell you all first what I would write last. After trying for a week to make this system work, I returned it today and am buying a Uniden 900Mhz DSS phone.I bought three handsets and a 2402 base station in the hopes of replacing a few old Uniden 900Mhz phones for use in my house. This appears to be a very well made product with lots of usefull features, such as multiple handsets running off one base station and both global and selective handset paging. Unfortunately, it has very limited interior range. It would not work more than about 40 feet between rooms, notwithstanding trying different locations for the base station. To make matters worse, the handsets beep four time whenever the handset senses being out of range - which can happen on an intermittent basis, and for me during the middle of the night! Siemens' tech support confirmed that they have limited range and had no solutions for use within a normal size home. I never had an interior or exterior range problem with my 900Mhz phones. If you wnat to use a cordless phone for other than within one room, stick with 900Hmz.

Summary: Be careful when buying this one!
Review: I recently (one month ago) eagerly bought what I thought was a complete set, complete with next day air for fast delivery, (not knowing that it came with seperate remotes), only to discover when it came that it was not a complete base unit. I then had to decide either to; return the remote and get a different one,(minus my 20 dollars shipping), or go out and plunk down another bunch of money and get the one with the base unit to use with the remote. Naturally, I plunked down the money. The set itself is fairly good, with four drawbacks that I experienced. First, there is periodic shaking of voice that you hear (and apparently to the other party). Second, it is fairly fussy as to location. It only worked in one phone-jack location-the others had terrible reception in some locations in the house. One other thing-When answering, sometimes you can hear yourself through the earpiece at fairly high volume. The only way I can clear this is to turn off then on. I usually don't cut the other caller off. Lastly, there is a tendency for the earpiece to slide gradually, making me at first think that there was a fading of the signal. Actually, the earpiece was being blocked as the phone slid. A bit hard to notice. One thing the service rep on the phone suggested is periodically unplugging the base and turning off the handsets, then plugging in and turning on. This can clear up many problems-sort of like re-booting your pc. Another tricky process is getting the handsets to recognize the base. How to do this is only mentioned in the remote instruction.

Summary: lots of style
Review: This handset has a wonderful and beautiful design. Functionally it is even better than the base unit I have (2420). You can revisit the last few calls made for redialing. And you can really edit the directory entries. The unit is so small it is very comfortable in your hands, however this makes it hard to cradle and unfortunately, the included belt clip is a real pain to install. A shame for a phone of this price. The voice quality is great, but the range is not on par. Siemens should really market the repeater unit in the US.
