Summary: Caveat Emptor
Review: If this model did what it is advertized to do, it would be a good buy. I like the look and feel of the unit. But the unit I received did not work properly, at least after a few weeks. I should have returned it then for a refund or exchange, but did not. That was my mistake. Instead, about a month after I bought the unit, I called the Uniden repair service, explained my problem, and was told it would have to be returned for repair. It was still well within the warranty period. I returned the unit, paying for the shipping. In an accompanying letter, I stated that I thought I should get a new unit, rather than a repaired one. This request was ignored. After a month, I got the unit back, and the most serious problem -- I could receive calls but no one could hear me -- was repaired, but another one (I couldn't dial when the phone was on the cradle, one of its advertized features) was not. I am going to live with this problem, because I can't afford to ship it back and wait a month or so for the repair.

Incidentally, I chose this particular unit because it was the top recommendation of Consumer Reports. This is not the first time I have gotten burned by one of their top picks on an electronic product.

Summary: Uniden caller ID cordless answering
Review: Quality is a disappointment. The clarity on this phone is very good but no where in the tech data did it mention the volume of in/out recorded messages and the ring on the handset cannot be totally silenced. This is a real nuisance when used in settings where silent operation is necessary. At it's lowest setting messages can still be heard from the base unit by anyone in the room. Additionally, the handset quit working after only 1 year. This is the 2nd Uniden product that quit on me. A similar phone by G.E.has lasted me 10 years without a hitch.

Summary: No battery = no phone
Review: The phone and answering machine work fine, calls are clear, range is more than adequate, and managing messages left on the machine is easier than on the old tape-based machine I had before.

First caller-id enabled phone I've owned. Between my telemarketer-unfriendly answering machine message and the ability to refuse callers using caller-id blocking, those annoying rings have been cut in half. Another nice thing about caller-id is that since I know who's calling, instead of a plain "Hello?", I can say "Hi, Pat!", or, if it's the answering service, "Hello, this is Ross".

The PROBLEM:

Battery life of the handset is much reduced compared to the old cordless handset. Too often, I've had it die, without warning, in the middle of a call (the base station remains connected, so if I can get to the base station before the other party hangs up, I can continue the conversation). Battery life itself isn't that big of a problem, it's the lack of warning. There's no BATTERY METER.

Summary: Great phone - if it Works!
Review: The Uniden Cordless phone had all the features I was looking for: caller ID, answering machine, and speakerphone. Also, it is one of the few cordless phones with these attributes that is WHITE! Well, the phone completely quit working within a week, and the phone could not be dialed from the handset sitting on the base if the answering machine was plugged in. If you're willing to take a chance, the sound was great and it was very user friendly. I recommend it provided there is a good return policy should anything go wrong. Although I returned it several weeks ago, I've been searching for something comparable and have not found it. Hoping this one was just a lemon, I would give it another chance.

Summary: Good Price - Hope you like to yell
Review: We bought this phone only because it was the cheapest with Caller ID and an answering machine together. We were constantly hearing complaints from people we were talking to that we did not sound loud enough. The sound on our end was just as bad! If you like to yell this phone if for you...If not, look for something better.

Summary: One year and several problems later...
Review: We purchased this phone last year when our cordless went to telephone heaven. It worked great for about 9 months, then it started acting funny. For one thing, the phone suddenly refused to charge if the keypad was facing in (toward the base). Just last week, the phone began to emit a strange buzzing noise at periodic intervals in the conversation; changing the channel on the phone, recharging it completely and moving to another room did not resolve the problem. Once every three or four months, the answering machine "resets" itself, losing the time and date and our greeting message.

One thing I found uncomfortable about the phone is the proximity of the "Talk" button to my jaw. When I cradle the phone between my shoulder and head while talking, I inevitably hang up on the caller. Sometimes it doesn't hang up - it just puts the person "on hold" and I can click back into them. This, of course, is quite random.

Another feature I don't care for is the fact that you have must delete the message while you're listening to it. If you have any old messages, you must hit PLAY, then delete it. Not a major incovenience, just a minor annoyance.

Occasionally, the answering machine will pick up on the second ring instead of the fourth as it normally does. Again, random.

The phone base fits well on our wall and the phone itself is easy to use. The ring tones and volume is adjustable and the channel features are useful.
