Summary: PIECE OF TRASH
Review: Do NOT buy this phone. Following is a transcipt of an e-mail I am sending to Panasonic which should explain why I advise anyone and everyone NOT to buy this phone.

I am the PROUD owner of a Panasonic piece of trash telephone (model number KX - TG255OF). I read the negative reviews about it on Amazon (where I purchased the phone) and I thought, but it's so expensive! They MUST have worked the glitches out by now! Perhaps those people just got lemons! I purchased the phone on January 12, 2001-- less than a year ago. At this point, the phone will no longer work. I can be standing NEXT to the base, and the phone reports "Out of Range". I can be TOUCHING THE ANTENNA OF THE PHONE TO THE ANTENNA ON THE BASE, and the phone reports "Out of Range". I called your customer support. After nearly breaking the phone trying to get the battery door off, I managed to reset the phone. Guess what? The phone is STILL reporting "Out of Range". I spent a ridiculous amount of money on a phone that worked for less than a year. The customer service rep advised me to send it in for service, but I really don't know if it is even worth the time or effort. I just wanted to let you know that I will NEVER be buying another Panasonic phone and will advise EVERYONE I know against it as well.

Sincerely, Kate Stiteler

Summary: Great performance but...
Review: Hi. i have had this phone for about 6 mos now and performance wise i have been very happy. I have had no problem with function or clarity or range in the time I have had this phone. I have always had either a Panasonic or Sony cordless phones and have never been dissappointed. My BIGGEST problem with this phone and what I still find annoying after 6 mos of use is how the operations are laid out. The menu funtion is not at all intuitive and neither is figuring out soemthing as simple as how to redial a number. Redialing is a two button process which is very anoying. Also the flash button isn't the "on/talk" button but another button at the bottom of the phone. Again not great from the ergonomic stand point. I can't tell you how often I have hung up on someone while trying to see who is calling on the other line. I personally like a phone where I can figure out how it works w/o reading the instruction manual, which isn't possible with this phone. Otherwise as far as performance, no complaints.

Summary: Horrible
Review: I bought this phone about 1 yr ago, it was very expensive and never quite worked right. I can be standing next to the charger and it will tell me it is out of range, it does not allow you to answer calls or anything when it does this. Also when I dial numbers it gets all confused and makes these weird noises and I have to hang up and keep trying until I finally get it to dial correctly. I would not recommend any Panasonic phones after using this one. Right now I am in the market for a new phone and I am probably going with a V-Tech. I know a few people who have these and love them.

Summary: Good overall but has bad points also
Review: I bought this phone for the 2.4 Ghz. to prevent others from hearing as I could hear my neighbors coordless phones with my old Sony coordless and its range. Initially I had it in my last apartment and the range was really bad, not more than 20 yards! It was near a wall, but not obstructed. I have since moved to a house and guess what? It's against a wall and obstructed but I can go for more than 100 yards and reception is crystal clear. The phone is rugged as I have dropped it repeatedly and it still works.

As for the bad points I can say this:

1.- The user interface stinks, it is complicated to redial for example, and also to program the phone.

2.- Battery life is really, really poor. It will not go beyond 2 hours talk time even near the base.

Hope this helps you make an informed buy

Summary: Not My Ideal Phone - It Gets the Job Done
Review: I have had this phone since October 1999. I purchased it for several reasons:

1) It has the newfangled 2.4 GHz Spread Spectrum Technology

2) It is cordless and headset compatible

3) It has caller ID, caller ID with call waiting capabilities

4) It did not have an answering system

5) It worked with the voicemail I have from the phone company

At the time, it satisfied all of my needs perfectly.

Overall, the sound quality is acceptable. The battery doesn't last as long as it did when I bought it, but that is to be expected. I thought, though I was mistaken, that I could add an additional handset to the base system. Right now, I need more phones in my home. That I cannot add additional handsets is a drawback.

The headset option is key for me because I ruined my neck at work from long hours on the phone. I can only talk on the phone with a headset or I get a giant neck ache. This phone works well with a headset and allows me to do lots of activities while on the phone.

Unfortunately and ironically, the biggest advantage of this phone is also its worst feature. Once you have used the headset, the phone cannot be used in non-headset mode. After removing the headset, I cannot get a dial tone on the handset when I press talk. This is frustrating/annoying for people who want to use the phone without the headset.

I called Panasonic to find out how to fix this problem and the representative said it happened because I was not using a Panasonic headset. I bought one, but the problem was not eliminated.

By chance, I discovered that the phone could be restored to non-headset mode if the headset was removed, the handset was placed on the base, the phone was set to auto-pick up and the handset was picked up while receiving an outside call. I used the Panasonic headset after the phone was "reset" like this and the problem still existed.

I remain frustrated because I haven't been able to find my "secret fantasy" cordless phone. This phone meets part of the criteria, but falls miserably short.

Summary: Best phone I've ever owned!
Review: I love this phone! I have no idea what these other people are talking about. I owned a Uniden 900Mhz that would produce unbearable static levels when I was two feet from the base. Finally though trial and error I figured out that the problem was that the base was too close to my computer monitor and the magnetic field from the monitor was causing the static. The Panasonic 2.4 is unaffected by where the base or the handset is located and I think it's the best phone ever made. A friend of mine has the same model and we laugh we love our phones so much. Between the two of us we've had two dozen other models before this one and we both agree that this one far outperforms all of the others, not even close. You people with the out of range problems need to locate the base somewhere other than on top of your TV, microwave or the bottom of your pool.

Summary: Telephone Perfection
Review: I purchased the Panasonic KX-TG2550F (Blue) throughAmazon. ... . Having read so many conflicting reviews on the Panasonic 2.4 GHz cordless phones my biggest concern was the voice quality and range. This phone just blew me and my wife away. We were able to try side by side comparisons with a regular 900Mhz phone by VTEC which we have always considered a good phone. This Panasonic model was so far superior on quality and range that there really was no comparison. I could walk down the street and the voice quality was absolutely perfect where the 900Mhz would not work at all. In the house, which is a large two story, there was no place that the sound quality was not perfect. Programming in the 30 memory numbers was quick and easy. I felt that the phone was intuitive to use with many neat features. Additionally the styling and color blue is very modern. Since we live in the mountains and often might be outside when someone calls this phone answers a need just perfectly. Where the 900Mhz VTEC would be filled with static this Panasonic simply sounds like a wired phone. I would recommend this phone to anyone who has any static or range problems with a 900Mhz phone.

Summary: Don't be decieved
Review: It's easy to be decieved by this phone's cool looks, and multiple functons. But don't. This is the worst phone I have ever purchased. Static and range was absolutely horrible, and customer service is terrible. I had to send the phone back (to get a replacement) three times, before they would refund my money. By the way, all three phones had the same problem... terrible range, bad sound quality, static, and one had the 'out of range' error others have been talking about. You are better off saving your money.
