Summary: Great Phone
Review: This is my tenth cordless phone, and it is the best. The sound is great, the features are great, especially the speakerphone and Do Not Disturb. Also, the phonebook copies between the 2 phones. Also can use the phones as walkie talkies within the house. I hope these phones last a long time. I originally got them so that my computer wireless system would no longer get interupted.

Summary: So close yet so far
Review: This phone had everything we wanted and more....speakerphone on both the base and handsets, the shareable phonebook, the baby monitor, the walkie talkie feature - yup it's loaded. Uniden forgot one thing: make the phone work. It's a minor thing you know, actually using the phone to make and listen to phone calls, but the core function of this product just didn't work. Our callers thought we sounded fuzzy, indistinct, and far away. The phone kept hanging up, three times on one call in 5 minutes was the record. When we switched to a 15 year old corded phone, a caller commented how much better the phone sounded.

This might be a product of the technology, that 5.8 ghz just isn't ready for true telephony, but we returned our system today. It's too bad too, I really wanted it to work out.

Save your money and don't buy this if you plan to make phone calls.

Summary: LUV THIS PHONE!!!
Review: This Phone is GREAT!! Only one problem, I did think that the voice mail was locally turns out you have to have a voicemail box provided by your telephone company, that didnt cost me anything so that wasnt a problem. LUV the baby monitor on any of the ten handsets... GET IT!!

Summary: Best Home Telephone System
Review: This Uniden telephone system is simply outstanding, especially if you work from home, and have Caller ID Deluxe available from your telephone service provider.
If you work from home, and have a wireless network (802.11b or 802.11g), you will experience no interference. This was the reason I switched from an older Uniden cordless. If you have several phones throughout the home, you can transfer calls to specific handsets. More importantly, while separate handsets do not require their own telephone jack, they have a degree of autonomy in terms of phonebook, caller ID memory, and redial memory.
Uniden has looked to the creature comforts common in cell phones and integrated them into this home phone (e.g. different ring tones, CWDX, mute, call transfer). There is also a phonebook feature which is extremely useful.

There is intercom, hold/transfer, walkie talkie, room monitor, and more. Both the base unit, and all of the hand units have speaker phone capability. The answering machine is incorporated in the base unit; however, messages can be checked from any of the handsets, and messages can be retrieved from any telephone while out and about. One of my favorite features is the "Do Not Disturb" function. With a touch of a button, you will not hear the phone ring during dinner, and the Uniden system will still receive calls, and take messages. All of these features work seamlessly - it is not a complicated piece of equipment that you'll never learn how to use.

Contrary to some of the other reviews, the Uniden 5.8 ghz system makes telephony a pleasure and an ease.
