Summary: Why not just call it an expensive alarm clock?????
Review: Have purchased 2 of this particular item. The 2nd one only because I thought the 1st one must have just been defective - a fluke. Seems that they ALL have the same problem. Radio and alarms work fine... phone doesn't work at all. Have researched and spoken with others having the SAME problems with the same unit. The manufacturer's only response was to direct me to authorized repair centers. Guess there's a good reason why they discontinued it!

Save your money! If you want an alarm clock, you can get a <much less expensive version.>

Summary: Wish it still worked!!!
Review: I bought this clock-radio-caller-id phone about two years ago. Found it at Costco.... It's worked fine until a couple of weeks ago. Seems it's exhibiting the same problem that others have noted, mine just took a little longer getting there. I can dial and hear others just fine, but the person I'm calling cannot hear me. I liked the phone so much (before it broke, of course) that I decided to replace it with an identical one. The only place I could find it is at Frontgate.com.... Then after reading the reviews listed here, I've decided to pass on an exact replacement. Perhaps I'll find something with a more dependable history, even if I don't like it as much. Bummer.

Summary: GE Cordless Bedroom Phone
Review: I purchased this phone to replace a similar GE model that was a corded phone. I should have stuck with the corded model because it was giving me excellent service. The only drawback was that the cord kept getting tangled up everytime the phone was passed to someone on the other side of the bed so I decided to replace it with the cordless version. These new phones are made by Thompson under a license from GE and are terrible. Similar to the experience of another evaluator, I followed the instructions closely and charged the battery thoroughly before attempting to use the phone. The low battery light never goes off. Additionally, pressing the keys on the keypad do not always generate a tone, and hence a lot of calls do not go through. Unfortunately, this product is the only one on the market like it and was difficult to find. Today, I suspect that if you do find one it is probably one of the last around and has batteries so old that they no longer hold a charge. Obviously, I am returning the phone and will put up with miniscule shortcoming of the corded model.

Summary: Replaced it with the GE 26985GE1 Model
Review: I received this unit as a Father's Day gift. This is the first GE product I've had in a very long time. Everything worked satisfactorily until I made a telephone call. It seems the touch-pad is defective and sends out the wrong tones for a digit. Consequently, I kept getting numbers that I wasn't intending to call. I took it back to a retailer...thankfully they accepted it without a receipt. I exchanged it for the pricey next model upgrade that has Caller ID, etc., since they no longer carry this model. So far, I have had no major problems with it. However, this unit has a LCD display instead of the LED display. It is very hard to read and does not display the time or other information clearly. After all, why do you buy a bedroom unit anyway? A clock and a phone. Maybe GE will replace this model with one with the best-of-both features? Bottom line...I would never purchase another GE product again. They haven't convinced me to give them my business. That's why I rated this 1 star. At least the display on the GE 26980GE1 worked very well.

Summary: Better than I expected
Review: I was very skeptical about purchasing this item after I read the reviews of other consumers. I am very happy to say however, that I am a satisfied customer. I have never owned a cordless phone/clock radio before, but always wanted one. After looking locally to no availe, I decided to go on-line. I was surprised to see only one choice. While it made choosing the item a breeze, the comments on-line concerned me. I'm pleased to say that I have not had any problems with the phone or the clock radio. On the contrary, (knocking on wood as I write this) it has incredible radio reception, all the bells and whistles needed and more, dual alarms which I had never used before, (love it). The only complaint I can think of is the fact that the telephone ringer is not adjustable; (minor details). As I stated earlier, I have nothing to compare this item to, however, if you are looking for a cordless phone/clock/radio, I would recommend this item.

Summary: Canadian Product or 2002 Product Difference??
Review: I'm surprised how well this space saving decorative product works given the other reviews!
Telephone key dialing on this extremely light hand set is crisp, easy and accurate. No reading glasses needed for dialing. Volume/clarity in and out is good.
One must keep the phone line disconnected for at least 12 hours while the first battery charge occurs, following that procedure worked perfectly while not following it srews it up.
The red 'battery charging/in use' L.E.D. is really an 'on' indicator which stays on while the handset is in the cradle.
The other 'low battery' L.E.D. is for the 9volt clock back up battery, which of course will not go out if you do not install the 9v battery.
I am impressed with the range and clarity of the telephone having used it on the opposite end of a large two bedroom apartment with no difference in quality and have yet to experience static.
What stations I can pick up (never good without cable) in my bedroom come thru clear with adequate sound for a small speaker, but one of the drawbacks of this unit along with only one ringer level, is that it does not pick up many stations.

Some un-documented features were a nice discovery:
The volume level of the alarm can be set by turning the radio on and setting the digital volume for the alarm there then setting the alarm. I find vol level of 5 or 6 out of a max 16 more than ample to wake me up with the alarm while 10 causes a gestault type of levitation. When using the radio, the volume must be adjusted higher.
The flashing features of both the night light and red 'in use' L.E.D. feature when the phone rings is handy when you don't want the ringer on while someone else is sleeping while you are reading in bed etc.
The handset pager is amply loud!
The clock has a large well lit face angled to be seen from anywhere in a large bedroom and so far keeps perfect time.
I guess G.E. listened to those other reviews!!
