Summary: Bad Choice
Review: I had this phone for over a year now. Everyone I know, who has this exact same phone, including me, has the same problem with the battery. It takes more than 24 hrs to recharge and dies within next 12 hours.

Summary: A Great Cordless Phone
Review: I have owned this phone for a year and never had a problem with it. The battery has never died even when I've accidently left it off the charger all night. The speaker phone option is a nice feature. I have never experienced bad reception even when used outside. For the money, I would highly recommend this phone.

Summary: Good Phone
Review: I like all of the features this phone has and I prefer 900 MHZ. It has a nice Caller ID but I've never come to like the "handset speaker". It's not that great. The directory where you can store numbers is outdated and I'd have to say the newer phones improved on that. I recommend this model in the form where you can have speakerphone from the base.

Summary: Not my first choice for Panasonic
Review: I purchased this Panasonic Cordless phone bc I already had another cordless by Panasonic and I absolutely love it, but it did not have caller ID. I generally have great things to say about Panasonic, but this is one of the worst. The problem that we have is that it doesn't hold a charge very long and it takes a good 24 hours to charge again. We also get static on the line. Other than that it is a great phone, but I would discourage anyone wanting to purchase this phone.

Summary: Battery Problems Galore !!
Review: I purchased two of this series phones from Circuit City in Salisbury, Maryland approximately six months ago. The phones will not hold a charge and they know it !! After several weeks of phone calls and Emails I finally had a tech person on the phone that would not give me a run around and admitted they were having problems with this phone. I was even referred by the Panasonic service site to contact a dealer thousands of miles away and after much frustration they could not solve the battery problem. I was told there was a kit that had to be installed by me to take care the problem. They could not supply it or the new Battery and did not know when it would be available... Forget It !! and Panasonic !!

Summary: Disappionting performance
Review: The 1703 is a comfortable phone with good voice clarity and some nice features, but can't seem to maintain a reasonably consistent signal. For the first couple days I liked this phone a lot and thought I had found the ideal cordless, but after I got a chance to use it more and really see how it could (or couldn't) perform, I was soon disillusioned and disappointed.

Features are important but the bottom line of any phone is send/receive clarity with a consistent signal that doesn't drop parts of conversations and cut off words. Send/recieve voice quality of the 1703 is very good with no annoying background hiss, noise or voice echoing. However, when experiencing even the slightest interference, it completely cuts in and out, dropping parts of conversations which requires the other party to repeat what they've said. Pretty annoying! Naturally, this happens more when outside, but has also occured in the house near the base unit. In some cases it got really bad. I tried relocating the base, making sure it wasn't plugged into an outlet shared by other appliances or electronics, but didn't help. Since this has happened with other digital phones I tried including DSS, my guess would be this is a problem with digital based phones. I have two older 900MHz analog phones that have never done this. Their reception can get noisy, but they've never cut off parts of conversations like the 1703. I also have an analog 2.4GHz cordless that never cuts off words or interferes with my conversations, and just got a Sony SPP-N1020 analog 900MHz (same price as the 1703) that's been perfect and probably the best cordless I've owned with the best range of any I've used. Even 3 houses down from ours, I've experienced only very slight interference. Pretty commendable. From here on out, I'm sticking with 900MHz analog until technology that's obviously proven better comes along.

Summary: The worst phone ever.
Review: The battery on this phone would not last more than 5 hours. I replaced the battery twice and had the same problem. The phone will not hold a charge.

Summary: DONT BUY THIS PHONE
Review: Think about this: I am an 18 year old girl with a very normal life. Lots of friends, lots of things to do. I am taking the time to write a review of this phone so you can SAVE YOURSELF! This is the worst phone I have ever had in my entire life. I'll be walking down the hallway from my bedroom, and it will start breaking up.And no, I do not live in a house with cement walls. Sometimes, I'll pick it up if it's ringing, and it will take a few seconds for me to hear who is on the other line because I have to wait for it to find it's signal. If you have a ceiling fan, forget it! I've yet to understand why my fan would interrupt my phone's signal, but nevertheless... The only thing good about this phone is the fact that it has a speaker phone option on the handset. Other than that, it's a complete waste.

Summary: Great Phone
Review: This is a very serviceable cordless telephone. I am on the phone a lot, making nearly 200 calls a month with this KX-TC1703B and a Plantronics M140 headset. I am even able to walk outside and stand at the far end of my one-acre property and talk on this phone without difficulty.

While some folks who have written reviews on this product have criticized its reception, I have had no such difficulties. However I did pay attention to the fact that there were reports of reception problems and carefully read the unit's instruction manual. My phone is mounted on a wall, about five feet from the floor and is positioned about three feet from my iMac computer. Thus, I have heeded the instructions in the manual that suggest elevation, antenna fully extended, and placing the unit a distance from a computer.

Bottom line: It's a great phone at a great price -- if one properly follows the usage and installation instructions.

Summary: Best phone around!
Review: This is one of the best cordless phones around. You can't go wrong with this one. It is very comfortable to use, has a pleasant ringing tone, and has some cool features. The best feature that I use all the time is the speaker phone which is in the handset. I can hear very well, and the caller can hear me just as well. Plus, I can roam about the house while using the speaker phone in the handset. It has a lot of other features that are extremely easy to use. For the price, it's a great deal. The base is small, so it doesn't take up a lot of table space. The battery charges quick, and I have not had a problem with it running down fast (as others have eluded to in their reviews). I can't say enough good things about this phone.
