Summary: Siemens Poor Quality
Review: We bought two Siemens 2.4 GHz two-line cordless phone systems and two one-line instruments. These phones have proven to be so bad in terms of voice quality that we are now going to replace them. Consistently, the phones have a stuttering voice quality making it very difficulty to understand us when we are talking.
Overall, despite the very high cost, these phones have to rank as the worst phones we have ever purchased. We have written to Siemens about the poor quality and received a polite non-response.

Summary: Nice Handset
Review: I have used this system for about a year and now have a base unit and 3 extension units. I've found it reliable, very durable, and easy to use. I appreciate the adjustable volume controls on the handsets. The range and clairity is fantastic. The batteries, though, seem to need constant re-charging. Also, the design discourages balancing the handset on your shoulder and holing it to your ear. But, really, this is a great improvement over the last generation of cordless phones.

Summary: I don't understand these bad reviews
Review: I've been reading the reviews, especially the negative ones and I have not experienced those technical and reception problems that you have received.

First I'll describe the one flaw I found in this unit. The phone (I think) picks a random frequency when dialing out, and on occasion that frequency is not so great (you get an on and off effect where the dial tone comes in about half the time) So if you choose to dial then and send the call, the phone will try to dial on this not-so-great frequency and you'll waste your time waiting for the phone to go through on that bad frequency. However if you just pick up and listen to the dial tone first, and THEN dial you'll never experience that annoyance.

Besides that minor annoyance it's an AWESOME unit. We've got 5 at my house and 2 phone lines. You can pick up on either line, transfer calls, put people on hold, switch between calls, itercom ... it's like the swiss army knife of phones.

Unfortunately mine broke because the headset insert broke off on the phone ... but I am buying another!

Summary: Poor Performance!!
Review: I have two Siemen's 2.4GHz Digital Phones - the base unit with digital answering machine and one satellite unit. About a month or two after getting them, the performance started to rapidly go downhill. I could hear everyone fine, but people on the other end said I sounded choppy, garbled or was simply "breaking up".

Initially, I thought it was interference. However, I am not near any telecom towers nor power lines. I have switched off every electrical appliance, florescent lighting, air conditioning, anything that might create a magnetic field or otherwise interfere with the signal. I have stood immediately next to the base unit - and it still refused to clear up.

I now think its the incredibly [...] quality batteries Siemen's ships with this phone - NiCad. NiCad is an outdated technology and clearly doesn't belong in a phone costing [...] or more. We should get Nickel Metal Hydride or ideally a Lithium-technology battery (like you get with today's cell phones). With such a cheap and nasty power source, you get totally [...] performance and this phone rapidly becomes a frustrating waste of everyone's time. I'm going to try and return mine to Amazon for credit - total waste of money.

Summary: Flexible and feature rich, but time is running out...
Review: I live in an older home with 3 floors and two phone jacks. The Gigaset was a great way to get phones everywhere without having to add wiring. The phone is loaded with features and the family has been actually been able to use most of them. CallerID is a must in a household with teenagers. Sound quality varies, so for important calls I still use a corded model. Time is running out on the Gigaset though. The batteries are standard AA Ni-Cd, but technology moves on and Ni-Cd are getting rare if not impossible to find.

Summary: Solid, but not for the Plug & Play Crowd
Review: I first bought a 2420 system with 2 auxillary handstes to support my home office throughout my home. I was pleased enough to then buy a 2402 system with 5 auxillary handsets for my residence lines. (I should add that one of my handsets, 6-months old, simply stopped working for no apparent reason, but I've had no other performance issues.)

The handset size is comfrotable and ideally proportioned. It can be clipped to your belt or carried your pocket. The handset's features are complete, (except that there is no intercom feature to track misplaced handsets). Reception is also great.

A big plus is that the auxillary handsets use any type of rechargeable AA battery.

Be forewarned, however, that someone in the house should read the detailed instructions that accompany the system. This is a sophisticated system. Summary instructions are embedded in the handset's LED and may be accessed by scrolling, but the LED instructions are cryptic. I, for one, did not understand them until after I'd read the User's Manual, (a first for me). But once you've completed the Setup procedures, you'll need only to remember: "When in doubt, take the phone away from your ear, (apparently a difficult motor skill for Teens), look at the LED screen, and press the button below the appropriate command."

Summary: Not very reliable
Review: I have had problems with two of the supplementary handsets. The batteries died in one unit and another unit just died. The base unit also malfunctioned. Line 2 is always off hook. Reliability, durability and service are poor. The lack of speaker phones and lit keys on the portable units along with poor quality make this a product to avoid.

Summary: Cellular quality in a digital phone
Review: This phone came highly recommended by telecom people in my company. However, the 2402 has yet to live up to the hype. I really enjoy the range on the phone. But whether I am next to the base unit or 2 doors down, the call quality is lousy. I am asked 4 out of 5 calls if I am on a cell phone. The cutting out is extremely noticeable. I can't believe the amount of money I spent for the quality I received. I'm sticking with my corded analog until I find something else and can afford it.

Summary: Major disappointment
Review: I wish I had read these reviews before plunking down around[the $] for the 2402 and four handsets. I got the same run aroundfrom the manufacturer about re-regestering the handsets andbase. After trying that around 4 times, the manufacturer is sending mea new base unit to see if that helps. By the way, if you have anyother electronics that use 2.4 GHZ technology,(i.e. security cam.,video sender/receiver etc. forget it. They just won't work if thephone is in use. Save your money until the manufacturer admits theyhave a problem and improves their system. Stick with 900mgz!
