Summary: Not a good phone
Review: This phone didn't meet our expectations. We used it in the kitchen for a long time, and found that it is very hard to get clean, even with normal cleaning fluids.

Battery life is an issue for this phone. Two new batteries lasted 9 months before they wouldn't hold a charge.

When power goes out, there is no electronic memory for time, so when we have a power outage, which is frequent, we have to reset the clock. The outgoing message doesn't erase, so why not the clock???

There is no speakerphone capability either.

Summary: Piece of ...
Review: This phone is a piece of .... It beeps at people when you're on the phone, which causes a moment of silence. The battery is terrible! You can't talk on the phone for more than 20 minutes before the phone dies, even if it's been charged for 2 days. Do not buy this phone; you will be very disappointed.

Summary: Would give it less than one star if I could
Review: This phone is a piece of junk. I have usually been very happy with Sony products and this phone was excellent out of the box, but now 5 months later it is falling apart.

The caller ID has ceased to work, the display is going out, and the answering machine gets worse and worse.

Very disappointed in Sony on this one.

Summary: I'm glad I'm not the only one....
Review: This phone was fantastic for about 8 months. I could go about 100 yards from my house while talking without any interference. However in the last month the handset started "Channel Searching" no matter how close I was to the base and how good the signal. Two days ago the handset went into channel search mode and literally has not stopped searching since. I have done everything I can think of including change the battery and it continues to search and while it searches the answering machine doesn't seem to work. Oh well, no more Sony for me.

Summary: Great phone!
Review: This was my family's first cordless phone. We bought it because our answering machine blew up in an electrical storm and we needed a new machine. Since we could only find phones that come with answering machines, we went with a cordless-even though my parents were less than thrilled because of a previous bad experience with a cordless phone. We came home and hooked it up, let it charge overnight, and it worked excellent!! The Caller ID in the handset was great(no problems yet) and the answering machine quality was excellent. We had a problem later on with it, but it turned out to be the phone line itself, not the phone. It has a simple keypad, no fancy buttons, and is easy to use. I have taken this outside with me before within the 100 YARD radius of the base and have had no problems. It channel searches when you are too far away from the base. The reason other phons may have had problems is because you are not supposed to put the base near electrical stuff such as TV, etc. and the base should be in the middle of the home. It also has a directory where you can enter people you know and instead of dialing their number over and over, you can access the directory and dial from there-speed dial basically. If someone on your "speed dial" list is calling, the phone gives a lower pitched ring so you know it's someone important and not a telemarketer or something. The answering machine has 3 different "mailboxes" that are-again-easy to use. An excellent product from Sony!!!

Summary: A phone that rots
Review: Very similar experience to most other reviewers here. It started out great, with some "fuzz" on the receiver's sound but still clear and audible. I used it happily for many hours of teleconferencing. Now it mysteriously drops out frequently, the voice quality has degraded, and the battery runs out too quickly. We've only had it for 6 months or so, and it is too soon for it to be ... out like this. I would give it a chance and buy a new battery, but from the other reviews here it sounds futile.

Summary: Ditto, don't waste your money
Review: We've had this telephone for about one year, and we love the features. However, we've had to replace the battery already (the replacement is very expensive, as batteries go). Also, the phone is constantly muting -- it makes a terrible clicking sound, too -- resulting in having to ask people to repeat themselves over and over. It must be channel surfing, but there is no need for this. I will be buying another phone, but not a Sony.
