Rating: Summary: good phone, but the signal does cut in and out Review: dont get me wrong, i like this phone a lot. has a nice look, lots of features, good range, and is sturdy. but, like a few other customer reviews, i have to agree that during your phone calls, the call will cut in and out. not too much, but the fact that it happens is quite annoying for the price youre paying. another complaint is that the answering machine is very garbled- not clear sounding at all. some messages i cannot understand the name, number or message.
Rating: Summary: Keypad failure Review: Generally, a good cordless phone with easy-to-setup and use features; however, keypad failed in one year nearly to the day of purchase. Have returned phone to VTech for new one and waiting for their response.

Rating: Summary: Better Quality Equipment Review: I bought this telephone as a gift for my parents so they didn't have to run to the phone to check their Caller ID. The phone has performed very well with no problems and since they were so happy with the way it worked we bought another for our own home. I would recommend it to others looking for the features this one carries.
Rating: Summary: Fourth time lucky Review: I had to exchange this model four times (my ninth cordless this year) and settle for the newest flimsy antenna, but the unit I have now is great. The sound quality is the best, the spare battery is very, very convenient. Placing the base unit in as high a spot as you can and still use the answering machine improves sound quality. The headset capability was the biggest selling point. Now that I have one that works, my biggest gripe is that the Caller I.D. only dials seven digits while I live in a 10-digit city.
Rating: Summary: a good cordless Review: I live on a boat and wanted a phone that would have good enough range to reach the shore. This phone is the first one that accomodated that need. I have been able to maintain a clear connection up to about 200 feet. This is with the battery fully charged and the base located inside the boat near other electronics. This seems pretty good to me as I have had much poorer results with similarly priced phones. The keypad and display are ergonomically sound and the buttons are durable and easily depressed. The caller id function is flawless and the physical design is attractive and functional. Since I've had this phone I can walk my dog to the park, and not worry about missing important calls. Lastly, the rebate program is great, making this phone an even better buy.

Rating: Summary: Lots of Features will not make it dependable! Review: I purchased this model V tech VT-1970ci Cordless phone for my work desk a while back, and I was very disapointed by it. I bought it because of its wonderful feature set, which is vast, and makes it a very easy phone to use and operate. Here is the bad news though folks. This phone is just unreliable. Sometimes my calls will fade in and out, and it seems like there is a great distance between me and the person on the other line. If you do adjust the volume the voice just becomes fuzzy and gargled. I suggest you avoid this V Tech phone, spend about ... more and get a digital 900 Mghz phone from Sony. My Sony I have had at home for two years now has been nothing but fantastic.

Rating: Summary: not bad, I've had worse Review: I really like all the features this phone has to offer. My favorite one is that you can put a spare battery in the base unit and it will charge it. The best thing about this is that if your power goes out, it will use that battery as a power source and you can still use your cordless phone. I'm still looking for another phone that does this. The problems: 1)The screen starts going out one line at a time. A friend of mine has one that did the exact same thing. 2)The antenna bends very easily. I thing mine came loose inside the phone because now sometimes it shuts down to channel search. Especially when someone is trying to call and you can't answer because the phone won't work at all. (This is probably my own fault for letting my one year old get a hold of it.) If Vtech could fix these problems, I'd buy another phone from them. I've had this one for over 3 years and have never had to replace the battery.
