Summary: I liked it, my wife hated it!
Review: Basically the phone worked as advertised.. however. a. The sound was tinny and weak b. The controls were much too complex for my wife. (How do I get line 2??) c. Range was not what I expected.

Summary: Sound Quality Ruins IT
Review: I loved the design of this phone as soon as I saw it. Picked one up, and instantly noticed the background noise. Tried different outlets, different phone jacks, moved around the house, etc. Nothing would get rid of this noise. I traded it for another at Office Depot, and same thing. I really hoped it was a defective unit, but it looks like they're that way.Too bad, because it's a slick looking phone with all the features I'd ever need.

Summary: Love it!!!
Review: Interesting to look over the reviews after I read them b/4 I bought it and now after using it for 2 months. The only point that was a problem that I've encountered was the "no hands- cradle thing". Sound quality - great! (my friends and family got tired of me asking how it sounded to them), range - fine, my base is in my office in the basement, and it works up to the second floor like its a hard wired line.(I don't need to talk out in my yard - never even tried). I think it might seem a little intimidating to a non-techie, and that seems to be a thread in many of the complaints. But for a very sophisticated easy to use system I couldn't be more pleased. This is not a take it out of the box and plug it in system. I followed the setup intructions and was going in 5 minutes. I have never had to look at the instruction book once I was up and running. It is really easy to use. I like the fact I can take my caller ID listings and just slap them into my directory and then share the diectories with all the other phones. I think the caller ID issue is more with incompatable telco systems, have no problems with mine, other than folks I never "saw" b/4. I can redial with 2 button hits, that become very intuitive, like the redial list. This is a really fun intuitive system and like any involved product requires use. I wish my Nokia was as easy to use as this!

Summary: Overall good phone system
Review: I have had the Siemens gigaset for about 2 weeks now. I have found this phone system easy to use. As far as range, I have taken it to the laundry room in my building, out in the back parking lot and down the road (which is about 1000 feet) without a problem. The walls here are brick and concrete, so this is entirely acceptable (why anyone would need to walk a half-mile away from their house with phone I don't know). If you want alot of range you should get a cell phone, they are cheaper anyway . The voice clarity I found to be good and I have had no complaints from the people I call. The features on this phone were meant to be used from the handset. Hence, if you want to know how many messages you have the handset will tell you (dial "int" 9 to acess the answering machine from the handset). This phone performs well with "normal use" if you buy this phpone expecting it to perform miracles, you will be dissapointed.

Summary: What a BUMMER! "White noise" static won't go away.
Review: I too am getting the "white noise" static that others have talked about here. I tryed doing the technique Siemens recommends to make it go away (de-register/power down/re-register), but it's not fixing the problem. There is nothing in my house that should be interferring with the phone. I've tryed two Gigasets now with the same problem. I've since tryed a Panasonic 2.4GHz phone in my house and had no problem with static at all. Obviously, there's a flaw with the Siemens phones. Siemens customer service says there's nothing else they can do about it. That's very disappointing. I really wanted to use this phone because of the expandibility, but the "white noise" static is just too annoying, and apparently, not fixable.

Summary: Terrible transmission quality
Review: This 2.4 G (?) phone is unable to send or receive calls anywhere in my house except within 10 ft of base station. I bought the base + 4 handsets with the hopes of having communication throughout my house. As it is, all the handsets are useless and I have to stand within eyesite of the base unit.

Summary: Excellent Phone! Here's how to solve reception problem:
Review: I loved this phone from the moment I opened the box! First thing I noticed is that it uses standard rechargable AA batteries (no propriatary format). Battery life is excellent, provided you take care of them. The handset is sleek and light with more features than I have seen on any other cordless phone. Most are easy to use: the more advanced ones take a bit of learning (If you don't like them, don't use them). Answering machine controls are intuitive and easy to use as well (double speed playback works great!). I also appreciate being able to view the status of and retrieve my messages from the hanset without having to go to the base. Expandabliliy to multiple handsets is unique at this price range and, coupled with intercom, conferencing, and room monitoring features a definite plus As for reception: I did experience white noise on the handset with the factory-set frequency. Siemens' web site prominently displays their customer service number 2 clicks in (when was the last time you saw that?), which was well staffed and provided me with a resolution in minutes. If you hear "white noise" on the handset: 1) deregister the handset, 2) disconnet power to the base unit, 3) disconnect power to the handset, 4) wait 5 minutes, 5) restore power to the base unit FIRST, 6) restore power to the hanseet, 7) re-register the hanset. This will force the system to search for and establish the best frequency to use between the base and the handset. This technique gabe me crystal clear reception. It seems like one should loose all settings, but in my case this did not happen. I was impressed by how quickly Siemens helped me root cause and resolve this issue (far faster than returning/buying another phone!) The only improvements I would make to this phone would be to add battery backup to the base. Other than that, I would give it my rare rating of "Almost Perfect"!

Summary: Elegant idea, but too complicated to use
Review: I thought this would be the perfect phone. Unfortunately, it had two drawbacks, one minor and one major. The minor inconvenience is that this phone can't be wall mounted. (I wanted it for the kitchen wall.) But more dissapointing was the difficulty of use. The soft menus are really annoying, and I missed some of the easily accessible features that my old phone had. I returned the phone in favor of a more straightforward design from AT&T.

Review: The reception on this phone has been worse than my 900 Mhz phone. Both handsets exhibited the same problem with the reception going in and out.

Summary: Piece of trash--wish I could put no stars
Review: ...The phone is difficult to hold and is easy to disconnect, but that is only the start of the problems. The caller i.d. often does not register the phone number until the phone is answered. (Before that it says "ringing"--big help if you're trying to screen calls.)There is no message indicator for how many new messages you have, you don't find out until you listen to them one by one. The final straw is that it isn't charging properly, often not connecting with the base unit when resting in the cradle. Interestingly, I was in Germany this summer and the Siemens phone in the hotel room had a similar charging problem. I'm going to buy an AT&T phone instead because I like the features of that phone better. Unfortunatly, I haven't found a cordless phone with decent reception quality. I think there's a lot of money out there for someone who can make a decent phone.
