Summary: Siemens Gigaset
Review: This phone has some very nice features including but not limited to the ability to add up to eight handsets. However, the battery life on both the NI cad and NIMH batteries are terrible. I find this phone more often in the charger than anywhere else. In addition the range is certainly not what I expected out of a 2.4 ghrz system, in fact my 900 Mhz digital has more range. I even have trouble getting a good signal in my back yard. The features are amazing but the standard performance is very poor. I would recommend waiting to purchase when these bugs are worked out

Summary: Don't buy-read further
Review: I'm taking this back to the seller for two reasons. First, I've inserted fully charged Ni-Cd and NIMH batteries in it on separate occasions and the usage is disgusting. The batteries have used up all the charges within one day. Second, Siemens' 2xxx phones cannot be used when DSL service is installed on the same line, per two separate calls with Siemens. Beware!

Summary: Sleek, Feature Rich, Cordless System
Review: This product has about everything you could ask for in a cordless phone, and more. The handset design is excellent. It is slim, light-weight, and has unbeatable range and clarity. The antenna is built-in instead of poking out the top. It's powered by 2 rechargeable AA NiCad or NiMh batteries. It comes with 2 NiCad which offers 36 hours Standby and 4 hours talk. I recommend the Eveready "double A" NiMh which offers at least 50% longer performance. Each charger has a separate compartment for charging two extra batteries. The handset, also, includes a headset jack, a very slender, detachable belt clip, and a four line, backlit, LCD display.

The base is a separate unit, which is the only device tethered to a phone jack. All handsets come with their own chargers, free of phone cords, and can be placed anywhere there's an electric outlet. The base will "register" up to eight handsets and manage calls between them ( intercom ), as well as incoming/outgoing calls for two separate phone lines, or any combination of intercom and outside calls for up to four handsets simultaneously.

Each handset has its own programmable feature configuration and security. The system, also, has programmable administrative features. Each handset has its own directory, up to 120 entries, and can send entries or the entire directory to other handsets.

Shortcomings: The "Hold" feature is, somewhat, iron fisted and merciless. Once a line is placed on hold, it can't be released by any other phone or handset except the handset which placed it on hold. Even after completing the call from another phone, the base will, still see the line as on hold until it is released using the handset which initiated it. This has caused some frustration and confusion during our period of adjustment. There was, also, another minor discrepancy between the user's manual and actual operation of the Line Auto Select feature.

Overall, the system out-looks, out-feels, and out-features most anything else on the market at a very competitive per-unit price. We use it at home along with several other corded and cordless phones more disposable priced for the kids. I'm quite pleased with it.

Summary: What a pity!
Review: The Siemens system is designed very straightforwardly, solid, and works amazingly well - if it works.

We have had two handsets in this series, and both of them occasionally have one-way communication problems: you can hear the other end just fine, but they can only hear every second word. Apparently, you don't fade out, you just drop out.

I called Siemens and was lucky that the phone failed during the service call. To add insult to injury, they were annoyed with me and told me to use another phone. Their service is hopeless.

What a pity, this could be a great phone system! I wonder if the 5.8 GHz systems are
any better.

Summary: Seimens Gigaset 2402 is Total crap!
Review: I've had this phone for two years. Since day one I have had trouble with the audio "warbling" on both receive and transmit making it it nearly impossible to understand the caller. I have had Seimens replace both the base and the handset twice (I had to forcefully press them them to exchange anything). The problem seems inherent in this phone's design. The unit is not near any microwave or any other transmitter. I can stand 2 feet from the base and the problem persists. Strangely, when I slap the handset in my palm sharply the sound clears up for a few seconds.

Seimens support is as terrible as the phone. They refused to refund my money after swapping out the entire phone twice. So I am forced to live with a $300 phone that drives my wife crazy.

I will never buy any product made by Seimens again.

Summary: great product, unfortunately faulty
Review: I've had my 2402 for almost 3 years. I have two handsets and
use them both frequently. Siemens has replaced both handsets at
least once each.

After 10-12 months of use the phones consistently develop the
warbling in and out problem that seems to be common with this
system. They refuse to admit there is a problem.

I have a friend with the same system with 2 handsets. He
has also replaced his handsets at least once.

I just made a final call to Siemens, they told me to upgrade to
their latest phone. Fat chance considering I'm already into
Siemens phones for $300 and they have failed prematurely.

It's unfortunate as this is a great system overall. It just
seems to be fatally flawed.

I will _not_ buy another Siemens product.

Summary: Siemens Has Lost My Business
Review: I bought a Gigaset 2420 2 line cordless phone from Siemens two years ago and have had endless problems with the 3 handsets that I have for the system. My problems started soon after the purchase. I turned one off and it wouldn't turn on again when the power button was pressed. I dropped another one soon after a VERY VERY short distance and it went dead.

I called Siemens to see about getting replacements since I was still in warranty and was told that the Gigaset 2420 was a new product and they didn't have their replacement process setup yet and I should call back sometime in the future... So, I replaced those two handsets with my own money. And then the buttons slowly started failing on two of the handsets that I use most often. I had to press the number buttons a certain way to get them to work. It was a major pain when dialing a number.

I called the support center again. I'd had the phone for 13 or so months at that point. The support people told me that they'd had a lot of problems with the durability of the handsets. They acknowledged reported cases where the phone had been turned off and would not turn back on. They didn't seem too surprised about my buttons failing. They offered to replace my current handsets with refurbished ones.

That was about a year ago. In the last few months I noticed the buttons are failing again on the 2 main handsets. It's getting harder and harder to dial a number. One of the handsets also seems to have a worsening reception problem that sounds like I'm getting interference from a microwave but that's not it. The other handsets don't have this problem...
