Summary: Bought this after reading consumer reports
Review: I read consumer reports and noticed that the Uniden brand had the highest marks for sound clarity. Then I went to work on the Uniden website searching for the perfect phone with the features I require. This phone has been excellent. The sound quality is clearer than any phone, including any phone with a cord that I have used in my home. The LCD display and lighted keypad make it a keeper. I found that it is most inexpensive on Amazon.com. Buy a headset, you won't be able to live without it after trying it once.

Summary: after 3 other phones, a winner
Review: I returned a Panasonic (which had an annoying interference between your own voice and what you heard), a Southwestern Bell Freedom Phone (only $29, but sounded like it), and an AT&T/Lucent (which abruptly dropped calls for absolutely no reason).

I had pretty much given up, and then bought this phone. It has:

* crystal clear sound * useful display, including call-timer * good keypad layout (although I see other reviewers complaining about accidentally hanging up, but this hasn't happen to me in my first month of using it) * nice ring, handy since I leave it out in the backyard while gardening * allows you to start dialing and queues up the digits until it has contacted the base and gotten a dial tone.

Summary: A disappointing experience
Review: I was disappointed in this phone. To begin with, the enclosedbattery was almost dead. ..And as for the so-called superior sound, Idisagree. I wound up giving away the phone... I'd advise you to stay away from Uniden! END

Summary: If your looking for a new phone, look no further!
Review: If your interested in buying a new phone, this is the one you HAVE TO GET. The phone is basically flawless(no speakerphone). The clarity is perfect, many cool caller id functions, and a backlit display which is very useful when its dark. This phone is currently out of stock, because everyone wants it! If your planning on getting a new cordless phone, YOU HAVE TO get this one NOW!

Summary: Great Features & a Rebate!
Review: Just bought an EXS 9960, and also a headset, to eliminate"shoulder-hold cutoff" referred to by other reviewers. There's a $20 Mfr rebate to boot, on many Uniden models, through 12/31/2000.

To "an electronics fan" from Decatur, Ga, who desired a dual-keypad speakerphone version back in February, look at the EXS 9966 at Amazon.com.

Summary: Great quality and usability
Review: Just bought this to replace old Sony. Great quality and usability. The big flash button up top is great. Buttons are backlit and precise; make for easy dialing. Sound quality is excellent. Handset is a little big and hard to get your hand arouns, but a great phone.

Summary: THE BEST PHONE OUT THERE ! LOOK NO FURTHER!
Review: Like most of you, I looked at all the phones. I just had to write this because I feel more should enjoy this great phone. It's great because 1) It has a lighted keypad-great at night it lights up when it rings, displaying the callers name and phone number. 2) The caller ID is three line and has caller ID while on call waiting. If you have a caller ID unit more than a year old it probably can't work on call waiting. This is a great feature that your paying the phone company for anyway, so buy this phone and use it. 3) Voice clarity it clear clear clear. And with DSS there's no chance of people listening in. And for those of you in loud environments, this phone is great. It actually has three more loudness levels after the normal setting which is where it is normally. 4) The caller ID memory stores 50 names. Use it like an adress book, push talk and it dials the number automatically. 5) Uniden quality. I've had another Uniden phone for over 10 years, and no problem. 6) Comfort on the ear. This phones earpiece doesn't hurt like other phone where the earpiece doesn't protrude.

This is the perfect phone to add. Hide the base anywhere-the phone is all you need!

Summary: So where do I get a spare battery?
Review: One of the reasons I bought this phone was the spare battery charger--it's very convenient to just be able to replace the battery in the handset with a freshly charged one when necessary. However, this phone doesn't come with a spare battery, and so far I've had no luck finding one either on this site or in stores.

Maybe if they didn't deliberately put those 3 standard NiCad batteries in a special case that will only fit this particular phone, but used one that's more common...nah, then they wouldn't be able to charge big bucks for the batteries, which I'll no doubt be paying when I do finally find a spare.

Summary: Love This Phone!
Review: The Uniden EXS 9960 is a great phone. We've had it for a month now and have had no problems and are very pleased with the purchase. We get DSS privacy and great sound quality to boot. There is no echo that we can detect. People we call say the sound quality is much improved from our previous portable. Set up is a breeze and speed dial and Caller ID are easy to use. Volume controls are easy to adjust. Also, this was the only DSS phone we found that had a lighted key pad - a great feature if you keep it by the bed at night. Also has battery backup for power outages - a feature not found on many portables. The size of the phone is great - not too big or heavy. The only drawback, and it's a very minor one, is that the phone is just a bit too small to hold between your ear and shoulder - which actually may be considered a good thing, since that move is bad for the neck anyway. We highly recommend this phone.

Summary: Cordless Telephone EXTRAORDINARE
Review: The Uniden EXS 9960 is an electronic work of art that WORKS! I doubt that even Uniden knew it had such a real winner untill the reviews started coming in. This phone is CLEAR sounding, (can't tell it from our $100 corded phone),without a trace of echo or interference even when placed on a table next to my computer- not a recommended practice. It is full featured with a distinct feel of solid quality. It's buttons are of a functional size, they do not move laterally as on lesser brands and they are logicaly placed making the manual easy to follow. They are lighted, and the sound control parameters (ringer and volume) are realistic-no need to ever ask other party to "speak up" or the ringer to deafen you if its nearby, and it can be turned off. In short this is a solidly built phone that exudes complete durability as well as quality simply by picking it up. Its display is roomy and easy to negotiate AND it is affordable. Makes one feel like picking up some Uniden stocks! DON'T OVERLOOK THIS ONE!
