Summary: Better Than Most - But Not Perfect
Review: Much better than 900 mHz for range - almost double in our neighborhood. We bought a top of the line 900 mHz Sony (equivalent price to this 2.4 Ghz)and returned it because the noise was worse than our 10 year old analog cordless phone. Uniden clarity is much better than top of the line Sony. Caller ID functions are very easy to use, logical to figure out, and lots of options. Speed dialing is easy to use, logical to figure out, but cumbersome to program. It only has 10 speed dials which could be improved to 15 or 20. Answering machine funtions are great with the choice of different delete options, play, and skip. Easy to leave greeting but sounds "digitized" not very life-like. Messages are sometimes hard to understand if the caller doesn't speak well or talks too fast. This is the main thing we would want improved. Customer service has a lot to be desired. Very long wait times (30 minutes +) and the operators don't know how this product works. We had to contact a service manager to get our questions answered. This product is not currently on the Uniden website. Overall this is a great phone but still too pricey. If the price scares you stick with a 900 mHz around 100$-130$. You should be able to get the same features but will miss out on the extended range. If you have a lot of interference problems on 900 mHz products then pay the extra money for the 2.4 Ghz.

Summary: best so far, but still has a ways to go
Review: so far i've tried the siemens gigaset, the panasonic 2570 and this phone. this is the best so far with a few qualifications.the sound of the phone was great, way better than the panasonic or siemens, and the distance was fine. this is the only one of the three phones that has a backup battery charger and can be used during a power outage. here's the down side; the speaker for the answering machine isn't so hot. it's not loud enough and it's not a real good quality sound. the phone has a dearth of features. there is no way to access the answering machine from the handset, there are only ten spaces for favorite numbers, there is no way to completely silence the ringer of the handset, no redial button, the belt clip is tiny and i doubt it would actually support the handset. i'm still going to look for something better. good luck!

Summary: Very good features, unreliable clarity
Review: The caller ID and answering machine worked very well. The recorded voice was very clear and easy to understand and the caller ID worked fine. The reception was very spotty. At times, the phone worked flawlessly; however, on other occassions, the poor reception made the phone practically useless. The phone was affected by microwave ovens and florescent lights. In short, I am returning the phone.

Summary: Talk button keeps breaking
Review: The phone came with a one year warrenty. At 13 months, the talk button on the handset broke. We could not make a call or answer a call using the handset. Called Uniden, but never could get through to customer service. Finally, we bought a replacement handset through Uniden... The handset had a 3 month warrenty. In the 4th month, the talk button on the new handset broke. We now have a fully functioning base unit and two handsets that don't work. This Uniden is heading toward the trash. My big question now is do I give any more of my $$ to Uniden. The reception on the unit was great. Very clear, but considering the cost of the phone, then adding [the money] for the replacement handset, I spent [a lot of money] to use a phone for 15 months !!

Summary: Incredible Clarity and Range
Review: This phone is amazing! I really didn't need an answering machine, but I picked up this cordless gem for $50 (refurbished), and I'm very happy with it. I've had the phone for a week now, and I take it with me when I'm walking the dog. The calls are clear with no breakup. I have tested this phone and have talked on it from almost a block away. I experienced problems when the microwave is on and I'm in the same room, but so what? All I had to do was move about 12 feet away to stop the static. The only reason that I'm not giving it 5 stars is that it's a bit difficult to program the speed dial numbers - mainly because I'm trying to read the instructions while pushing the buttons - after a minute or so, if you don't get the info entered quickly enough, you have to start over again. But that's a small complaint. I have no comments on the answering machine - I am using the phone over the Internet (Vonage) - so all my unanswered calls go to a voice mailbox. In short, if you want a great phone and can pick this one up refurbished, I suggest doing so. Obviously, I can't comment yet on durability or long term reliabilty yet, but I felt stongly enough about my initial experience with this phone to write this review.

Summary: Uniden EXR-2480 2.4 GHZ Cordless Phone
Review: This phone is loaded with great features! (Most importantly features that you will use.) Overall, it's a solid buy. The good points: answering machine is top notch, very high quailty digital playback/record; great caller-id features (3-Line display); excellent range (well over 500 ft LOS); very secure phone; ease of use; appearance/design; price/performance The bad points: terrrible vibration in the mouthpiece when talking (I find this personally annoying - don't have this problem with V-Tech phones); 2.4 GHZ is great, but in small places (like apartments), an active microwave will cause direct EMI; ni-cad battery (Uniden too cheap for ni-mh or li-ion?)

Review: Uniden,Motorola, and GE's older (black/blue w/antenna ringer light) are the best mid-priced phones. Look out for Columbia, Panasonic and V-Tech.
