Summary: This is the best phone of 5 that I bought!!!
Review: I returned four other phones, that I recently purchased, for this one! The quality of the phone sound is the best!!! I like having the speaker phone, and use it when dialing, then "pick up" using the hand set if someone answers. Lots of other great features. I currently use this phone with an external answering machine. If my machine ever goes bad, this phone has a voice mail light, that I can use if I purchase voice mail service with my local phone company. I was not happy with the panasonic phone/answering machines. I returned the 2583 and 2670N as their answering machine, when playing back messages--in between messages--would give this annoying "grown sound?

Summary: Good Solid Cordless Phone
Review: I was very surprised to see ony two stars for this phone. I have had one for over two years and this phone has been a good solid performer. I am a self-proclaimed gadget freak and have tried many different cordless phone brands. I think that Panasonic and Sony make the best phone and I think that Panasonic, while the cheaper of the two generally makes better equipment. With two small kids ours has been dropped and moved multiple times and has never given us trouble. It has provided better clarity than my more expensive Sony phones as well. I will admit that the features that are jammed into this phone are a bit over the top but this is a very useful phone. In fact, I'm on the site to purchase one for my mom. Happy Holiday!

Summary: Please don't waste your money!!!!
Review: I wish I had taken heed to the warnings before I purchased this phone in Feb. 2003... The battery life is the worst I've EVER seen! You probably get a good 10 mins. of talk time per charge...

PLEASE DON'T BUY IT!!!!

Summary: Buyer beware
Review: If you purchase this product, I hope you are completely satisfied. It is my opinion that the reliability of Panasonic products has slipped in recent years, and this was confirmed to me when a product I purchased quickly failed. The reason I'm posting this is to warn you that the warranty that accompanies Panasonic products only has value if the company chooses to stand behind it. In my case, they weaseled out of it, leaving me with a total loss and no further recourse. Good luck with your decision.

Summary: Replace the Panasonic Battery with a non-Panasonic battery
Review: In my earlier review, I spoke of having the now infamous Panasonic battery problem. Since then I took the advice offered by one of the other reviewers of this product. They replaced their poor Panasonic battery with a non-Panasonic battery and have seemingly fixed their problems.

So I headed to the nearest Radio Shack to buy one of their Radio Shack brand phone batteries and thus far it's working great. The battery I purchased was catalog number 23-270 ($14 and change after tax) and it's a Radio Shack 3.6V/1200mAh NiMH Battery. The battery itself is a little smaller than the Panasonic battery, but still works like a charm.

So if you're having a problem with the battery, replace it with a non-Panasonic battery and you should be fine. I thank the previous poster who offered up the idea originally. For whatever reason, I never thought to try an off-brand battery. I hope this helps those who ran into this problem like myself.

Summary: For Your Consideration Before Buying A Panasonic Phone
Review: It is a phone with many nice and unique features and a pretty good range. Before you buying any Panasonic phone, be aware that all Panasonic phone products may have some common issues. The following list for your consideration:

1. You can never turn off the ringer unless unplugging the phone line;
2. You can never turn off the sometimes-annoying keypad tone;
3. Don't operate it too fast or you get the famous Panasonic "out of range" problem even if your phone is 1 inch away from the base. To reset it, you need to unplug the power for a few minutes;
4. If you call in to check new messages, the first choice is "play all messages" rather than "play new messages". Be patient with the slow prompts and there's no shortcut.
5. it's not likely you will remember how to set the clock, so don't unplug the power.
6. Your recorded greeting will never sound too good over the phone. The caller should not speak too fast or too low when recording. This is not just Panasonic's issue though.
7. Nobody liked the way it looks when I mounted it onto the wall;
8. The phone is water-resistant, but not the marks for the buttons. They may fade out before the battery dies;
9. Average sound quality;

Summary: Great phone. And i love the design
Review: Ive had this phone 3 weeks now, and its been working like a dream. Its so clear, and it feels nice in my hands. Ive dropped it a couple of times, and nothign has happened. THe shock-resistent part is not a lie. This is the most durable panasonic phone ive ever owned. My last phone was the Gigarange Elite, and that broke within 3 months. I know panasonic phones normally decline with time, but i think this one is going to last. I also bought "Plantronics Headset M175 for Mobile & Cordless Phones". NO MORE NECK CRAMPS. All in all, i recommend this phone. Go get it!

Review: my first panasonic 2563 works great...this 2583 won't hold a charge for more than 10 minutes talk time...and it's only two weeks old!!!!!!!!!!customer service offered to replace it with a refurbished model when all i'm looking for is a new battery...i paid top dollar so that i could trade it in two weeks later for a refurbished unit...........i'm very dissapointed with them...never another panasonic.

Summary: Panasonic 2563W
Review: Not very happy with the clarity of this phone. Also, very uncomfortable the way it rests on my ear and it also feels like I am talking into an echo. Taking it back to Staples tomorrow. Overpriced. Unsure of what else to buy. Just glad to dispose of it.
