Summary: Battery life is awful
Review: I have had this phone for about two years. I kept blaming the kids for not putting it back on the cradle to recharge, but then they went away to camp this summer and I know it was on the cradle whenever it should have been. Fully charged it only lasts about an hour. Replacing the battery helped for a month or two, but now it has started to drain too rapidly again. I don't think having to buy a new battery every three months is reasonable. My other phones have never had this problem.

Summary: Battery can be Changed to NiMH for better Performance
Review: I have owned this phone for over a year, and after replacing the original NiCd Panasonic battery with a GE 1300 mAh NiMH battery (TL965600187), the battery performance has been exceptional. The features of this phone are excellent and the performance has been great. However, recently we have been unable to use it at all due to large amounts of 2.4GHz interference in our home. Beware of too many wireless devices in your area. The 2.4GHz spectrum is the wild west. Other than that, this phone is great!!

Summary: A Wonderful Cordless Phone! Very Clear Speakphone!
Review: I have used this phone for one month. I love this phone.

What I like:

1. Very clear voice quality. My friends said they can't tell the difference from my cord phone when I called them with the handset. The speakphone works very well. My friend said he didn't notice I changed to use the speakphone to talk to him.

2. Good range! I can walk around the aptment and talk with the handset, when the door and the windows are closed.

3. Easy setup! I only read the manual when I need it. Normally I just follow the commomsence to set up the phone.

4. Reasonable keyboard design. Compared with my old VTech cordless phone, I like my new Panasonic's design. The "Talk" key is located in the left side of the phone, so that my face won't accidently pressed the "Talk" key and end the phone call, which had been happened several times with my old VTech cordless phone.

5. Ok battery life. The battery can be full recharged in 6 hours. I Can talk for 6 hours with a full charge.

6. Easy retrieve the voice mail.

What I don't like:
1. Don't have speed dial key in the handset.

2. Even I answered the phone, the Caller ID signal was keep on flashing. I must check the caller log to stop the flashing.

3.

Summary: Lousiest piece of electronic equipment I've ever owned
Review: I liked the design of this phone. It had all the features I wanted. My only complaint before buying it was that it would not stand up on a table and had to be laid in a prone position. After purchasing the phone I found much more to complain about! Little good it did. Panasonic has the worst customer service of any company I've ever dealt with.

Now about this phone. When you try to make a call, check messages or Caller ID log, most of the time the display says "Searching" followed by "Out of range". This can be anywhere in the house including no more than 2 feet from the base! When you can get it to turn on and you're speaking with someone, the interference is so bad it could have been used as laboratory sound effects in the original Frankenstein movie! Oscillating buzzing, humming and clicking. I've thought perhaps I have some sort of emissive signal nearby but 2 other 900 mhz phones I have work fine (see Sony below).

When the phone rings the display (Caller ID) just says: "Incoming call". Almost without exception my voice messaging answers the call (on the 4th ring) before the phone has figured out who is calling!

All I've gotten from Panasonic is, "Unplug the phone for 5 minutes and plug it in again so it will re-sync." That has not worked and Panasonic has been non responsive. I've decided to not even bother sending the phone in for repair. I'll just never buy anything from Panasonic again.

I've switched back to my perfectly clear Sony 900 mhz. It doesn't have NiMh batteries, the display isn't lighted, and there's no indicator for voice message, but it works every time, Caller ID displays on (or even before) the first ring, and no special effects!

Summary: Panasonic KX-TG2563W 2.4GHz Cordless Phone
Review: I love this phone. It saves me so much time. I use the Plantronics (over the head type) headset with it. Then I carry the phone in a jacket pocket, or clip it on my belt, and I can do my housework (yuck) while on those long phone calls with my mom (fun). Combining "yuck" and "fun" makes the housework so much more palatable. On the practical side this multitasking makes better use of my time.

I tried another cordless phone first, but it didn't work very well. It had a constant low level of static and there was always too much interference from the refrigerator; every time the fridge came on the static was unbelievable. (That phone was returned.) Then I checked E-pinions and found out that most people loved their Panasonic phones, so I bought one. Now, the only time I have any interference is when too close to a computer in use or a microwave in use. The fridge, washer, dryer, television, etc. all no problem. A major plus when you like to do housework while on the phone.

Now my mom wants one and I am so, so happy! I have struggled for years (since 1998) to hear her over the interference on her old cordless phone - she nicknamed it "the funny phone" it works so poorly. While I am here to order her one, I thought I should write a review because the only other reviewer said he hated this phone. I love mine.

Besides the technical stuff, the white color is quite attractive in the kitchen. This is another plus that finally sold my mom on buying a decent phone. She will only buy white electronic devices. It sounds funny, and we joke about it, but I must admit that her home because of her color choice.

Summary: Dis-satisfied with the phone.
Review: I purchased this phone a few weeks ago. The best I can say about it is that it works. The battery only holds a charge for four hours. It is complicated to use. For example, you can't just adjust the ringer volume...you have to either refer to the owner's manual or play with all the function keys to figure it out. I really dislike this phone.

Summary: Battery can be Changed to NiMH for better Performance
Review: I purchased this phone in January 2003. I had seen the poor ratings from others with the battery problem, but I had such a great experience with my earlier Panasonic phone that I foolishly overlooked the complaints.

The first few weeks, the phone worked remarkably well. Now I can't even use this phone for 15-30 minutes without it dying. And I have to leave it on the charger 24/7 or else it dies just sitting on my desk doing nothing. And perhaps the most annoying aspect is that you won't even get a battery is low noise. Instead the phone simply cuts off your call.

I've had no other issues with this phone. The speaker phone is good and the keypad is fine. But the battery makes this phone a very poor purchase. So please do yourself a favor and steer clear of this phone. I've owned some great Panasonic phones, but sadly it seems the Panasonic phone line has come on hard times since other current Panasonic phones seem to have a similar problem. I hope this helps any who are looking at this phone.

EDITED MARCH 02, 2004, TO ADD FURTHER NOTES:
I decided to try a solution offered by one of the other reviewers of this product. They replaced their poor Panasonic battery with a non-Panasonic battery and have seemingly fixed their problems.

So I headed to the nearest Radio Shack to buy one of their Radio Shack brand phone batteries and thus far it's working great. The battery I purchased was catalog number 23-270 ($14 and change after tax) and it's a Radio Shack 3.6V/1200mAh NiMH Battery. The battery itself is a little smaller than the Panasonic battery, but still works like a charm.

So if you're having a problem with the battery, replace it with a non-Panasonic battery and you should be fine. I thank the previous poster who offered up the idea originally. For whatever reason, I never thought to try an off-brand battery. I hope this helps those who ran into this problem like myself.

Summary: so far so good
Review: I recently bought this phone. I really like the phone so far. It is great to retrieve voicemail, it even stores your password to make it simple. It stores 50 names and numbers which make using the address book a pleasure. The clarity so far are very good and the speakerphone is awesome. The only two improvements I can think of is one: there is no speed dialing from the headset, and two entering the directory takes one too many keystrokes. Other then that great solid phone.
