Review: If you are a traveller, I would not recommend these headphones. The brackets which hold the cups have broken three times in different places in as many trips.

Review: Let's face it. Treat any electronic with kindness... So far they have held-up well.
Pros:
Highs and lows are there. After reading some of the reviews, I think the lack of bass, or mids, and highs could be an equalizer issue. Nevertheless, I purchased my h-phones on ebay for a mere $1.25 so, I am more than satified with this product. Volume control is nice. Noise reducer (notice that I didn't say eliminator)does more than an adaquate job. Head-set fits nicely on my head. I think as far as long distances are concerned, any brand of head phone will be a nuisence. But, that's my opinion.
Cons:
They are a tad bit flimsy. And if they do break, good luck on finding replacement parts. I've had my for 7 months now. No breakage. I agree with other reviewers. Handle them gently, no snowboarding with your mp3 player! And they should hold up well.

Summary: Can't say enough good things
Review: Really, I should give these 5 stars but two things stop me.
1) I travel a lot (hence the noise cancellation head phones) and both slide adjusters have broken and now have tape around them. The good part, tape works just fine, the bad bart, well, duh!2) The little button to turn them on is WAAAYYYY to easy to turn on. I had taken to placing the control unit in between the two headphones when collapsing them into the case, but that didn't even work. I finally had to resort to just removing the battery. Other than that the sound is excellent (slight dullness in the higher frequencies) and the noise cancellation works just like it should (all constant annoying noises are cancelled out). For the price I don't think there is a better deal.

Summary: Cheap materials
Review: The headphones do deliver a nice sound, and the noise cancelling quality is excellent. I also liked that they came with a range of adapters. All of this quickly became irrelevant after about six months however. After six months of light use, these headphones broke. The trouble is that the plastic joint that holds the headphones together where they fold away for convenient storage is too weak. Save your money and buy something more durable or you may end up regretting it.

Review: The noise cancelling feature works well plugged in or not. It comes with a handy carrying case to protect it from damage.
It is well priced compared to other noise cancelling headphones.
I have not experienced mechanical problems after 7 months of use that other have reported.
Its lightness makes wearing it more comfortable than other units I have tried.

Summary: Mediocre sound quality, too tight
Review: The Philips SBC HN100 noise cancellation headphones feature an active noise cancelling system. It supposedly senses ambient noise (e.g., humming or buzzing sounds) and emit a counter-wave to cancel out the noise. This sounds great in theory; in practice whether it works or not is not entirely clear to me. Luckily, you can turn off this feature and just use these as regular headphones with an inline volume control (but not amplification). I bought the Philips because the noise cancellation part seems to work as well as the much more expensive Bose headphones. But after two days of use, I'm returning this because 1) sound quality is quite plain, with little in the bass range; 2) the headset is a bit too tight, especially because I wear glasses. The Bose headphones have better bass and are slightly more comfortable, esp. for long periods of listening. Since the Bose offering is too expensive, my search for an affordable pair of noise-cancelling headphones resumes.

Summary: Nice sound poor quality constructioin & service
Review: The sound quality was good, but after a half dozen trips on an airplane the small plastic ear piece holder broke and I could not find service or parts for the unit anywhere. I tride to glue it but the material would not hold.

Summary: Definitely not worth the money, as cheap as they are...
Review: These headphones seem to suffer the same problem as all large over ear headphones philips has made: they lack bass. Well actually, let me correct myself, they lack DEEP bass. Now, if the only drums in your music are bongos, then i guess you wont really notice the bass problem. However, if you listen to any music with any other type of drum, the bass will be extremely hollow sounding. This is a strange phenomenon since i love philips smaller headphones for their cheap prices and deep bass. It may be due to the fact that this headphone lacks a bass port, however the drivers are so big you would think it wouldnt make a difference. I dont know, philips has to work something out.
As for noise cancelling, at best it is mediocre. You can definitely tell when its on, but it doesnt seem to be at a strong enough level. I have noise cancelling headphones from Targus (however, targus is not really known for making headphones so I'm guessing they had some third party company make these) which i got for 40 bux with rebate. They are AMAZING compared to the philips. THe bass is deep, the noise cancelling is amazing (although you have this feeling of pressure on your ears when the noise cancelling is on)and you can actually control the level of noise cancelling which i have yet to see on any other headphone.
ANother complaint is that philips put the switch for noise cancelling in the wire instead of the headphone itself. This wouldnt be such a problem if the button on the switch wasnt so flimsy. Definitely will break after constant use.
As for comfort, the headphones are great. But since this is their only completely positive feature, it might be a better idea to buy a pillow.
Basically i am in the market becuz the targus headphones are a little uncomfortable. However, I'm beginning to realize when buying low end noise cancelling headphones, your sacrificing lots of quality for a little bit of comfort.

Summary: Ahhhhhhhrrrrrgggg!
Review: Yes, they are too tight. Worse, the the headphone parts swivel on a very thin piece of plastic, such that both have broken when trying to unhinge them (they're collapsable). Much worse yet, Philips customer support is the worst experience of my life. I tried their chat support and found them to be rude, cutting me off. Their email support just gives you a number to some 3rd party who won't answer the phone. The headsets worked pretty well for the price, but if they're trashed after a dozen uses...?
