Summary: The Gift Of The Year
Review: As noted by a previous reviewer, the Olympia InfoGlobe is indeed an object of wonder for all who see it. With it's rotating date/time, caller ID information, and pre-programmed/self-programmed messages, it is fascinating to watch.

The InfoGlobe allows you to program up to 3 personal messages to appear daily or on selected dates, and also has several timely greetings built-in. It also has a "snooze" feature that allows you to set it to go off at a certain time and back on at another (so as to prolong item life, and also for those who may not be able to sleep with it on).

The motor is a bit noisy, but is only really noticable when there are no television, conversation, etc. It's noise level is comparable to that of an ionizer, and one does get used to it very quickly.

The caller ID does not always show information for incoming calls (it fails to acknowledge roughly 1 out of 10 calls), but this may be due to the activity taking place when the call comes in. The InfoGlobe has some great effects it employs to bring the characters on and off the "screen", and it is a joy to watch.

The InfoGlobe is easy to program and comes with both the AC power cord and a 9V battery for backup.

Great gift for yourself as well as others!

Summary: Novelty item - not worth the price
Review: Bought as gift - didn't realize there was no "call-waiting" ID and it takes too long to register new calls. Wish it wasn't too late to return it!

Summary: Info Glode....Not bad!
Review: I consider myself lucky after what I have been reading. I do have the version that takes the 3 aaa batteries and for a week have not had a problem. A little noise but when you normally set things up, it is quiet and you have to understand how it works. It is bound to make a little noise....hey, it is a toy! Have fun and enjoy.

The only thing I agree with is the setup is somewhat confusing. Read the instructions a few times and you will figure out how to do it but there are still a lot of "clicks" to enter your 6 messages.

I do want one at work too.

Summary: lots of fun
Review: I got this for my parents for Christmas after their other caller ID died after an electrical storm.

My mother called to tell me that it was working and quite entertaining to watch. She said it made an audible noise, but since neither of my parents hear too well AND since they sleep with the TV on, it doesn't bother them.

My less than perfect rating is that the thing shipped with almost dead batteries. Batteries are included, but after my mom hooked it up, the message it read out was "Batt Low."

Summary: Does not work properly
Review: I liked this concept so much, however the actually function was not as good as I expected. The machine uses a spinning electrode to display information. This make a fairly audible humming sound that bothered me.

My biggest complaint is that the globe displays information all the time. I was hoping the unit would have a "sleep mode", and would only display a incoming call, but it doesn't. Thus if the unit is turned on, the unit displays date and time, or other messages 24-hrs a day. This was distracting, we sent the unit back for a refund.

Summary: Cool - but needs more refinement

Summary: Fun at first, but problems quickly surface!
Review: I love the design and the functionality, caller id, clock, greetings, customizable messages, etc... however, the noise is way too loud. i've exchanged it twice hoping the motor was defective, but it's always the same... noisy as hell!

Summary: INFO-GLOBE...Neat Idea, But Needs Refinement
Review: I ordered this item out of a catalog, as an alternative to a mundane Caller ID device, and because I collect unusual clocks. I found the Globe's display very easy to see from acoss the room (about 10 feet), and liked how the time of day alternated with a call count, and programmable message. All of those features work just as described in the product description. BUT, I ended up unplugging the thing, and packing it away, since the spinning display device within the blue plastic dome made a constant whirring noise that was too noticeable, and very annoying, in my opinion. I called the manufacturer's info line, to see if this noise was normal, and was told that as the unit continued in operation, the noise should lessen; however, after 2 weeks, I heard no improvement. It wasn't, to me, a tolerable white noise, like from a fan, but rather like hearing an electric razor in use by someone down the hall. I guess if you intend to place it in a relatively noisy area, the sound would not be an issue. My only other (small) complaint was that the Globe didn't have call-waiting Caller ID capability. When I placed the order (by telephone), the Customer Service Clerk advised me that it did have that feature)So, if ever a quiter version comes, out, especially with call-waiting Caller ID, I'd be interested.

Summary: This Caller ID Globe is great
Review: I recently purchased the Olympia Caller ID globe and I find it to be great! It has wonderful features and the 3D graphic display is awesome. I would have given this product a 5, however there is one major problem with this caller ID. It is very noisy. It sounds like a old noisy air conditioner running. Although I love the product we had to move it to the livingroom as opposed to the bedroom because of the noise factor. If I had one request to olympia I would say please make a newer, quieter version. It'll sell like hotcakes.
