Summary: Thank you Jon Scott!!
Review: After dealing with panasonic for over a year regarding the short battery life (1 hour at most) I have finally gotten somewhere thanks to Jon's review. I wrote to panasonic after my friend returned her phone to them and it was repaired. I asked them if knew they about the problem with this phone, why weren't they letting people know? They refused to provide any help and said if I was still in warrantly I could return it. Otherwise, I was out of luck. Panasonic was certainly aware of the problem with this phone, but clearly refused to publicly accept responsiblity or issue a recall. Thankfully, with a post it note, I have been able to solve the battery problem that has been plaguing me since I purchased this phone. If you own this phone, try Jon's suggestion it works!

Summary: It's an expensive FIXER-UPPER, but it'll work.
Review: I bought this phone from ... for only [$$$]. If you have the phone... this is a GREAT price! However, mine fell subject to the same problem that the other people here have written about - Incredibly short battery life and long charge times.

I read...that Panasonic told them to stick some double sided tape on the back of the battery, as the problem was a loose battery compartment (design issue). I wrote Panasonic as well, a company that I have ALWAYS preferred to buy my electronics from, and after one entire week, they have not bothered to get back to me...

The answer to the problem is this: take your phone back to the place you bought it from, and get your [money] back. ... Once you get it in the mail, open the battery compartment, take out the battery and find yourself a small piece of paper, a post-it note for example. Fold the paper over and over at about the width of the small part of the battery, and tape it to the bottom of the battery.

Now carefully stick the battery back in, with the paper holding it firmly against the springs (contacts) and put the cover back on. After having done this a 2 hour conversation barely took more than one bar of the phone's power and solved the problem easily NO THANKS TO MY TRUSTED FRIENDS AT PANASONIC.

Summary: Waste of Time and Money
Review: I have always had success and liked Panasonic phones and cell phones...until now. Like other reviewers I had trouble with battery life and ring tones soon after I bought it (about a day after the Circuit City warranty ran out). Now, the phone can't hold a charge of more than a few minutes and if it's jostled at all while using it, it dies. When I called Panasonic, they said that these batteries have a "memory" and will stay charged for as long as you leave it off the charger (intuitively makes no sense and is a pretty poor design strategy either way). They sent me a cushion to insert in the battery casing to improve contact; it didn't work. Also, it will randomly stop ringing and the only way to know if a call comes in is when the machine goes off (that, at least, has worked).

If you're looking to buy a cordless phone/answering system, look elsewhere.

Summary: Horrible sound quality
Review: I have always like Panasonic phones - some of the best battery life and sound quality I have ever had. This one was different. It has some of the worst sound quality I have ever heard. No problem with battery life, just very annoying sound quality.

Summary: Can't hear the rings!
Review: I have this phone for a week and I love the design and features. I was worried because I've read a lot of reviews about the faulty rechargable batteries and limited range from this line of Panasonic phones (KX-TG2237, KX-TG2247, KX-TG2257). I tested it by leaving the handset off the base for more than 24 hours and the battery strength did not decrease. So I think mine is OK. The range of this phone is fine for using inside the house. I have no need to carry my phone 300 feet away from my apartment, I'd carry my cell phone instead. The sound of the handset is a little bright but the clarity is excellent. My only complaint is the ringer volume, it comes in 3 settings (ringer off, low and high), low is inaudible and high is you can barely hear it. I could hardly hear the rings if I have my TV on in the living room while I was in the kitchen. Panasonic should definitely correct this problem for their future products. overall, I think I can live with this phone.

Summary: Great Phone/Answering Machine Combo
Review: I tried 4 different phone/answering machine combos and took them all back because the voice quality of the answering machines were so bad. Finally I bought this one. It cost a little more, but is well worth the money. Messages sound great. Phone has lots of features, including a handy speaker phone that is on the cordless phone rather than the base - handy while on hold and wandering around the house while you wait.

Summary: Would Be Nice If I Could Use It
Review: I've had this phone since August. It's actually our second one. We returned the first one because it couldn't keep a charge. At the time of return (we purchased ours from Sears), the Sears employee suggested that perhaps we did not charge the battery correctly. I was a bit irritated, but returned it for the same phone. This one doesn't keep a charge either. I thought we had a faulty battery, so I attempted to purchase a new battery and as it turns out, they are completely sold out everywhere. Apparently the manufacturer doesn't even know when the battery will be availabe. This phone would be nice if it held a charge, but after having a full charge and talking for only 5 or 10 minutes, the phone completely dies. Who needs a phone that looks like it has a lot of nice features when you can't even use the thing?!? Also, when I'm at work or out and about and my husband calls me from this phone at home (when it's working), it sounds like he's in the bottom of a well. It sounds terrible. I would not recommend this phone to anyone.

Summary: Buyer beware
Review: If you purchase this product, I hope you are completely satisfied. It is my opinion that the reliability of Panasonic products has slipped in recent years, and this was confirmed to me when a product I purchased quickly failed. The reason I'm posting this is to warn you that the warranty that accompanies Panasonic products only has value if the company chooses to stand behind it. In my case, they weaseled out of it, leaving me with a total loss and no further recourse. Good luck with your decision.

Summary: It's a turd
Review: Like every one else says, it won't hold a charge at all. It also has problems answering while it's ringing. Additionally calls are filled with static when near a microwave.
