Summary: Battery life is TERRIBLE!
Review: Please reconsider pruchasing this phone. Uniden phones use NICKEL-CADMIUM (Ni-Cad) batteries. Under typical use, after 3-4 months, I would be surprised if you got more then 1 hour of use out of it. They develop a terrible memory problem if you are not obsessive-compulsive about using the battery to the fullest before placing it back on the charger/cradle. So, under normal, typical use, this phone's performance (or any Uniden cordless phone, for that matter) in under 4 months will be very upseting. I will never buy another phone that uses Ni-Cad batteries. EVER!

Summary: Uniden caller ID cordless answering
Review: Quality is a disappointment. The clarity on this phone is very good but no where in the tech data did it mention the volume of in/out recorded messages and the ring on the handset cannot be totally silenced. This is a real nuisance when used in settings where silent operation is necessary. At it's lowest setting messages can still be heard from the base unit by anyone in the room. Additionally, the handset quit working after only 1 year. This is the 2nd Uniden product that quit on me. A similar phone by G.E.has lasted me 10 years without a hitch.

Summary: Four, maybe even five stars stars but for one thing.
Review: The phone and answering machine work fine, calls are clear, range is more than adequate, and managing messages left on the machine is easier than on the old tape-based machine I had before.

First caller-id enabled phone I've owned. Between my telemarketer-unfriendly answering machine message and the ability to refuse callers using caller-id blocking, those annoying rings have been cut in half. Another nice thing about caller-id is that since I know who's calling, instead of a plain "Hello?", I can say "Hi, Pat!", or, if it's the answering service, "Hello, this is Ross".

The PROBLEM:

Battery life of the handset is much reduced compared to the old cordless handset. Too often, I've had it die, without warning, in the middle of a call (the base station remains connected, so if I can get to the base station before the other party hangs up, I can continue the conversation). Battery life itself isn't that big of a problem, it's the lack of warning. There's no BATTERY METER.

Summary: What a disappointment
Review: The phone worked only 4 weeks - suddenly the handset stopped working, the base and answering machine still worked, meaning I could only recieve calls via speakerphone and not call out at all. I called customer service at least 20 times, after holding for a while the computer said that there is an overload of calls and hung up on me. After several weeks (I work and therefore have little time to call) I reached a customer service representative. She instructed me to perform a series of test, indicating that this specific phone often has the problem that "the base and the handset do not communicate". Well, the tests showed no results. Another series of calls before I reached a customer service representative who told me to send the phone to them, they would repair it and send it back to me within 6-8 weeks. When I asked what I should use in the interim (I have another phone but no other answering machine), I was told that unfortunately they have no suggestion. I have one: DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE!

Summary: Great phone for the price.
Review: The reception on this phone is adequate, although going through a few walls causes some annoying buzzing noises. Still, not bad for the price. One bad feature: The answering machine playback stops if you try to use the phone at the same time. So if you are trying to dial a phone number someone has left on your answering machine, you must first write it down then turn the phone on to dial it.

Summary: No battery = no phone
Review: The short battery life is a gigantic problem. Sure the caller ID and speakerphone are nice to have on the handset. But guess what -- without a fully charged battery, the phone is completely useless! You can't dial without a charged handset (other phones will let you). You can't get caller ID without a charged handset (other phones will let you). And the kicker is ... you can't get a charged handset without a charged handset. Due to a combination of the connectors not working properly and identical and misleading feedback lights, the phone can sit happily for hours on the base appearing to charge, but in reality NOT CHARGING. You'll only find this out when it suddenly dies 30 seconds into your call -- because there's no battery meter! Who thinks these things up?? This thing is not user-friendly. Oh, BTW, the range sucks too, and everyone will complain about the sound quality ("it sounds like you're talking into a tin can" is the most frequent comment). Do yourself a favor. Get a different phone.

Summary: Great Quality, Great Price
Review: The sound quality of this phone is excellent IF you take the time to charge the battery a full 24 hrs. prior to its first use. I did so and have had no problems whatsoever. Friends of mine have bought 2.4 GHZ phones and I cannot honestly tell a difference in sound quality between the two. Handset is very durable and base set has every function people actually use and is so easy to use my grandmother could figure it out (literally!) If there is a drawback, I'd say it is the small caller ID window on the handset..but I soon got used to it. I've bought 4 other cordless phones with similar features and paid a lot more than I did for this one..it is clearly a keeper!

Summary: Great phone - if it Works!
Review: The Uniden Cordless phone had all the features I was looking for: caller ID, answering machine, and speakerphone. Also, it is one of the few cordless phones with these attributes that is WHITE! Well, the phone completely quit working within a week, and the phone could not be dialed from the handset sitting on the base if the answering machine was plugged in. If you're willing to take a chance, the sound was great and it was very user friendly. I recommend it provided there is a good return policy should anything go wrong. Although I returned it several weeks ago, I've been searching for something comparable and have not found it. Hoping this one was just a lemon, I would give it another chance.

Summary: UNIDEN EXAI7980 MY COMMENTS
Review: THIS CORDLESS IS MUCH BETTER THAN I EXPECTED. FEATURES, CLARITY AND CONVENIENCE ARE GREAT. THE ONLY DOWNER, AT LEAST FOR ME, IS THE DISPLAY. IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO READ. OTHER THAN THAT, I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT.

Summary: must get product
Review: This is worth every penny...Great range, excellent clarity, and easy to use. For maximum use, let phone charge for 24 hours before initial useage.
