Summary: Many problems with this phone
Review: I bought this phone about 6 months ago swayed by the positive reviews and the features on this phone. Just a month after purchase, this phone has developed many problems. The main one being that when I make phone calls, the people I am talking to always complain that they cannot hear me. I have to speak very very loudly for the other party to hear me. Additionally, if the TV or music is on, it creates a lot of echo on the headset so that it becomes impossible to hear the other party. I do not know if I just got a bad unit, but I am not too happy with this purchase.

Summary: Superb Phone - consider no other
Review: Having used the full variety, this is why this phone is the best:
1) Solid build - will last
2) Good programmable options
3) Well lit LCD screen
4) Superb speaker phone
5) Good functions (Caller ID etc)
6) Answerphone is digital
The range is brilliant, phone is well shaped, it's so close to a perfect phone - though you may want to consider the 1733B if you won't use the main unit to dial - it's the same otherwise.

Summary: Good and Functional
Review: I just bought this phone from Amazon, although I saw it at a large electronics retailer for the same price TODAY, so no special bargain here. I DO like all the features, the handset was easy to store all my #s in without even looking at the instruction booklet. >The speakerphone is convenient, and it gives good quality sound without clipping. It's cool to have it on the handset as well as the base so you can make it portable too. I don't subscribe to caller ID, so I can't tell you about that, but the call waiting beeps come in nice and clear. I hear the people I'm calling quite well, but my mom complains that I am echoing on the handset, and the speaker too. She prefers I use my corded phone when I speak to her. Another friend who I put on speaker, wanted me to pick up the handset. There is popping and clicking if I leave the room with the reciever base. Also, just sitting in my living room, with the phone base on the other side of my house, I was talking to a friend and the phone was cutting out as we spoke to the point of having to end the conversation, even when NOT moving around. I do have solid steel construction, so maybe that has an effect, I don't know. The handset is fine if I'm in the room with the base. Of course, the idea of a cordless phone is NOT to have to stay in one room while talking. >All in all, I enjoy the features, and the ease of use. It's fairly uncomplicated to figure out when you sit down and fool around with it for a bit. It looks nice too. I like to keep all my ringers off at night too, and this one has ringers on the handset, plus the base. One touch turns them on or off, the handset is slightly more complicated to shut, but still very simple.>The answering function has a pleasing non-staccato natural sounding male voice that will answer your calls if you don't leave your own personalized greeting too, which is very easy to record, by the way. A lady living alone might like that this has a MALE voice that can be employed as a deterent against unsolicited phone harrasment, my last was female voiced. Worth mentioning I think. You program the time, day and date with the handpiece, and it enters everything on the base this way. You can't program from the base.>I think, for the features, this is a good phone for the money, (...)

Summary: So close to perfect 4.5 Stars
Review: I have looked and looked for the perfect cordless phone and this is the best I have found. One of my criteria is a speakerphone in the handset. So useful for being on hold and listening to voicemail. This phone has: No hiss, speakerphone is one of the best (I've tried them all, Vtech, AT&T, etc.), callerid, digital answering machine that sounds very clear. Size is nice, much better then the smaller Vtech, Panasonics, etc. Sound is much better and speakerphone is much much better. Only drawback is they didn't put caller id on base, only handset. Would have gotten 5 stars if on base also.

Summary: An average model
Review: You get what you pay for. I wanted an inexpensive model with Caller ID and voicemail.
Most of the features are just fine. However, the handset is way too quiet and the battery life is just horrible. It would not let you talk for more than 40 minutes - needs recharging.
(I owe that model for over a year.)

Summary: I Will Not Buy Panasonic Again
Review: I bought Panasonic, because I thought that it was a reliable company that made good products. I chose a phone which I thought would last for at least a year, but I ended up having trouble with this one from the beginning. I contacted the company immediately to let them know that there were problems, but they refused the resolve the matter. I was so disappointed by their lack of response that I boxed up the phone up and ended up with a vtech instead.

I had a lot of problems shortly after purchase with static, with the phone cutting out, and with the range from the base that I was able to walk. It got worse, and pretty soon I had to stand next to the base to talk. Of course, that defeats the purpose of a cordless phone!

After many calls to the company, which only resulted in a run around, they told me to send the phone in at my expense and they would send me a refurbished phone for an additional $50. I told them at this point I was so disappointed in customer service that I just wanted a refund. The refused to give me a refund, and they refused to send me a label to return the product at their expense. I had paid almost $100 for the phone, and they wanted me to pay MORE money for a USED phone!

Having to pay $150 total plus double the shipping cost just to get a used phone that was "refurbished" was out of the question. I boxed the phone up and left it in my closet. It is still there, and I have avoided Panasonic products ever since. (I have, by the way, decided to purchase a vtech, which has never once given me problems.) I am very disappointed in the lack of customer service, the poor quality of the product, and the unwillingness of Panasonic to resolve this issue. It was a complete waste of my money, and I would not reccomend anyone buy Panasonic.

Summary: Great features
Review: This model is being phased out (as are all the 900MHz phones).
Everyone is going to the 2.4 or 5.8 --for greater distance.
If you will be using this phone in your home or apartment or small office, you do NOT need a more powerful phone. Plus the newer 2.4 and 5.8 powered phones do not have clearer sounds---just longer range. So if you really want long range--get a cell phone instead.
I bought this phone used/refurbished. It came with the original manual. I love this phone. Very clear sound. Period. Lots of (easy to use)programmable options: ringer loudness, # of ringers before answering machine kicks in, day/date/time stamp, speaker phone, etc. Also has caller ID ready, Call-waiting ready.
I think this model was one of Panasonic's last 900MHz phones: so they have already worked out any 'bugs'. But like I said---get one soon as they are going out of stock. I ordered mine from refurbdepot.com and got it in just a few days.

Summary: Stellar phone!
Review: This is the only cordless phone I have ever used that was truly worth it's price. The reason? Well built. A very sturdy handset, solidly constructed, with just enough heft that it can be handled without having the occasional fumble because it was too light (maybe it's just me). I never dropped mine, but I'm sure it could take a couple of drops on concrete before it conked out. Another awesome feature is the dual speakerphones. Convenient for answering and talking when I'm doing dishes, or happen to be in the middle of a video game or the like for the cordless, and the speakerphone on the base makes answering calls when I'm in bed easier than nailing the snooze on my alarm clock, plus the mic's pickup and clarity are stellar...a speakerphone you can actually use without standing on top of it.

Also, living in a rural area, lightning stikes usually take out a spanking new cordless the first time at my home. I hated rushing to unplug my cordless phones everytime I heard a rumble. That rarely did good because they would fry whenever I wasn't home to do it. I took a huge chance on this phone with it's retail price, which I paid when it first came out, and decided to see if it would hold up to a storm while it was still in warranty. Remarkably, this sucker lasted three years before meeting it's maker yesterday. I'm so pleased with its performance I got the exact same model as a replacement (...). I never even considered a newer model. Must buy!
