Summary: Exceeds my expectation¿
Review: I used this phone in the Bahamas, where the phone lines are not the best, while staying at a large private house and I was impressed with the features and clarity while talking on the phone. I live in an area that has phone line problems and I keep purchasing new cordless phones. I have finally found one that meets and exceeds my expectations. I highly recommend this phone to anyone. Do follow the directions on where you install the phone.

Summary: Vtech phones constantly crash
Review: I thought this phone would be great,but.... I have 2 handsets and they both crash when I answer the phone. Just read the info about waiting for the caller ID to process thru before answering and will try that. I called Vtech about this and they told me that it was because I have a satellite dish and satellite signals mess up the phone. They where unable to explain why satellite signals constantly bombarding the entire earth cause no ill effects, only if you have a dish to recive them. Thats not even as good as telling me they dont know. My advice if you buy this phone is to keep your phone at least 1 mile away from any parabolic reflective surfaces and live in a place that satellite signals can not penetrate if you expect it to work.(according to their rep) My advice is to buy any phone but this one,a 10$ phone will at least let you answer it EVERY TIME. Buyer beware.

Summary: A big disappointment.
Review: This phone drives me nuts. I wish I could return it. Half the time, when I press the button to answer it, nothing happens. The range isn't that good either. Don't waste your money.

Summary: I can't recomend this phone
Review: I read the reviews and found them to be inconclusive. Some people love this phone, others don't. After spending a few days with the one I just bought (and returned) I have to say I come down on the negative side. There was an incessant hiss in the background which really got irritating. I also could not seem to get rid of a sort of echo/reverb that was quite distracting. While I liked the size of the phone, the handset is not paticularily comfortable to hold. The headset I tried, just made all the audio problems worse. Why can't someone make a small cordless phone that sounds good and works? The menu options are difficult to navigate, especially volume which varies from call to call for some reason. All in all, I would not recomend this phone. BTW: AT&T and Panasonic both sell this same phone in different packaging. Post review note: A friend of mine suggests uncoiling the power cord helps with the static, as they use it as the antenna.

Summary: PHONEPHANATIC
Review: I HAD THIS PHONE FOR 8 MONTHS, AND I LOVE NEW TECHNOLOGY WITH TELEPHONE. THIS PHONE CONTINUALLY SHUTS DOWN (SEARCHING FOR BASE), DURING YOUR CONVERSATIONS, WHILE YOUR PHONE IS RINGING (WHEN YOU ARE TRYING TO ANSWER IT). IT COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN FOR AT LEAST 1 MIN. I AM SO DISAPPOINTED IN THIS V TECH. I HAD THE V TECH CORDLESS BEFORE THIS ONE. NOW IM STILL IN SEARCH FOR A RELIABLE PHONE.

Summary: Pros and Cons
Review: I bought my VTech phone (and an extra handset) almost exactly a year ago. Since then I've gotten to know the phone inside-and-out and discovered just how "durable" it really is. Pros: - The phone size is excellent. The smaller the better and this is by far the lightest, smallest phone out there. I can fit it in my pocket easily. If you dislike small phones then this might be a con for you. - Handsfree dialing. I can dial my 7 digits and then hit talk. It's a silly feature, but I love it. Can't explain why. I can also hit the speakerphone button instead of talk and it goes right into speakerphone mode. - Great speakerphone mode. Very clear. I can set it on my desk and talk to someone at a comfortable distance and they can't tell I'm on speakerphone unless my AC is running. - Good range. I didn't measure the distance, but I live in an apartment complex and can go downstairs, around the building, past the next building, and to the pool before it gets fuzzy. It also chirps when it loses contact, which is nice to know. - Good features like the headset jack, speakerphone, and multiple-base support. Cons: - After a year, one of the phone's batteries is completely toast. They're not cheap either. - After 6 months of usage, the headset jack now makes static whenever you move even the slightest bit. - Caller ID works but could be a LOT more intelligent. You can't easily store numbers from Caller ID into your phonebook. - Volume is a pain to adjust. No easy up/down buttons, it's in the menuing system... which is slow and cumbersome. - If you answer the phone while it's gathering the Caller ID data (during the first ring) the phone will crash and you'll lose your call. This is VERY annoying. - I don't know why, but I never used the phonebook function to store numbers. I think I found it too cumbersome like the rest of the menu system. So.. if you don't mind the occasional crash or replacing your batteries yearly, then this isn't a bad phone. However, I have to hope that there's something better out there with a better interface, more reliable components, with the same feature set and small size. If only Nokia would make a cordless.

Summary: Looks Better Than It Sounds
Review: My reasons for purchasing this phone were threefold. First, I needed a cordless phone that was small in size and would work well in an office. Second, I was looking for one with a speakerphone. Lastly, the price was great. I have had the phone for about a month now, and am happy with the performance overall. I was expecting slightly better sound from the phone; I have had situations where I hear static on the phone and I am only feet from the base. One of the greatest benefits I have found with this phone is its ability to expand. Once you have this model, you can choose to add other units around the house. Each of those units work off of the original, so that you could theoretically have 4 phones working off of the same phone line. This comes in handy when you want to place a phone in an area that does not have an easily accessable phone jack. Of course, this feature is not intended to give you 4 independent phone lines, just the ability to utlitize 4 different phones in 4 different areas of the house, all linked to one line. For the user looking to put one in their small office/home office, I would rather go with the new Polycom VoiceStation 100 speakerphone. For those looking simply for a reasonably prices cordless speakerphone, this should be the one for you.

Summary: I'm Revising my Earlier Review - I'd Like to Give Zero Stars
Review: Okay, in my last review of this product ("Good Features, Not So Good Performance" by Silver Spring, MD), I gave the phone 3 stars because I liked the features and the look of the phone even though I was having technical difficulties with the phone. In the few days that have passed, I would like to give this product ZERO stars (however one star is the lowest rating that can be given). I returned the first phone I bought because of the problem with the phone dailing a number different than the number I dialed. I went back to .... and exchanged the phone for another vtech 2431 and had even more problems than I did with the first one: 1. This new phone also dialed numbers different than what I dialed. What was happening was the phone would sometimes double dial digits even though the display would show that I correctly dialed the right number. For example, when checking my voicemail, I would enter my passcode of 1234. These digits would show up on the display correctly, however the voicemail computer would say, "the passcode 11223344 is not valid". (The phone double-dialed the digits.) Also, sometimes when I would dial a phone number, the phone would repeat digits - most often zero - even though the display showed I dialed the correct number. 2. The voicemail indicator light on the base or handset doesn't come on if I receive a voicemail while I'm on the phone. The indicator seems to work fine if I receive a voicemail when I'm not on the phone, but if I'm on the phone and I let an incoming call go to voicemail, the indicator light never comes on - even if I hang up the phone a few times to let the message register with the unit. 3. The handset had static even when I was very close to the base. I put the base in the same location as the first phone and I had no static with the first phone. In summary - I am VERY, VERY disappointed with this phone, the technical quality is very poor. All three vtechs I've come into contact with (my 2 phones and my girlfriend's vtech) have all operated poorly. I'm beginning to believe that the reviews from the folks that claim their's works well are fake reviews planted by the manufacturer..

Summary: Good Features, Not So Good Performance
Review: When I compared the Vtech phone to the other phones in Circuit City, the Vtech looked to be the best buy. However, I've had it five days and I've noticed the following isues: 1. Sometimes (three times now) the phone will dial a number different than the number I dialed. For example, I will dial (301)555-1212 and I know this is the number that I dialed because it is the number that shows up on the handset display, however, I would instead be connected to a number that is one digit off - say (301)555-1213. I will ask the person who picks up the phone what number I reached and it will be different than the number on the display that I dialed. 2. The handset speakerphone sometimes loses the other speaker's voice and I have to ask them to repeat what they said. 3. I don't necessarily like the different ring sound options. 4. My girlfriend bought one of the Vtech phones three months ago and is now having multiple problems with the handset: 1. the ringer on the handset doesn't work anymore. 2. The hands-free on the handset doesn't work anymore. 3. The keypad tones don't make any sound.

Summary: Nice features but no range
Review: After reading reviews of the vtech and other similar 2.4Ghz products I had many concerns. At the store, the sales person was very negative about Siemens(sp?) and suggested vtech. As others have pointed out, the vtech is very good looking and has many features. It does not have the range of a 900 mhz DSS. In side by side comparison and with the vtech plugged into various locations, the vtech would reach about 100 ft outside the house while the 900 would reach over 200 ft. If range is your primary cocern this is not the phone for you. Otherwise, the phone performs well around the house. There is a very minor back-ground hiss regardless of location. Despite the warnings I ended up putting the base close to my computer - same circuit and phone jack. It seems to work as well there as other locations.
